Chapter 113: Chapter 113: This Guy Has a Big Background_1

In Tiandu City, inside the interrogation room of the Xitan District Public Security Bureau.

Zhang Xian sat on a chair cuffed, his handsome face always wearing a casual smile, showing no signs of tension.

Mayor Tan Yaowei, Chief Tao Weiran, and many other officers stood by with grim faces.

This guy in front of them was so damn arrogant. He keeps smiling as if he’s in a luxurious hotel, not realizing the severity of the situation.

"Chief Tao." Tan Yaowei took a deep breath, and said: "Even though the incident at Flying Bird Entertainment didn’t cause much damage, we, as government officials, cannot ignore it. I hope you will take a series of measures to crack down on such criminal behaviors, prioritize the safety of the people’s lives and property, and contribute to building a harmonious society."

Tao Weiran understood that Tan Yaowei was asking him to deal harshly with Zhang Xian. He repeatedly nodded, "Don’t worry, Mayor Tan. I will personally handle this matter."

Zhang Xian overheard Tan Yaowei’s underlying message, and he sneered.

This Tan Yaowei was a hypocrite with a thick skin!

"Mmm, I have other official duties and can’t stay long. I just came by to check on the case." Tan Yaowei nodded, turned, and walked towards the door.

Zhang Xian looked at Tan Yaowei’s serious face with a frown.

He has seen shameless people, but Tan Yaowei was on another level. His words flowed flawlessly, dripping with bureaucracy.

As Tan Yaowei moved to leave, Zhang Xian’s lips curved into a strange smile.

Just then, Tan Yaowei, who was about to step out the door, somehow bumped his nose into the door frame. A piercing pain rushed through him causing tears to flow.

Damn, what just happened? How did he bump into the door frame?

"Uh, Mayor Tan, please be careful." Tao Weiran quickly approached, smiling awkwardly.

Tan Yaowei, suppressing the throbbing pain, waved him off and took another step. Suddenly, he felt a push from behind and found himself sprawled on the ground.

"Mayor Tan, what..." Tao Weiran was puzzled.

Mayor Tan seemed full of energy and spirits just a moment ago. How come he now seemed dazed, bumping into walls and falling on the floor?

Furious, Tan Yaowei sprang up and glared at the officers, including Tao Weiran. "Who pushed me just now?"

Tao Weiran was stunned, "Mayor Tan, nobody pushed you..."

"No one?" Tan Yaowei’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot, "When I stepped out, I clearly felt someone push me from behind. Are you saying there was no one?"

"No... no, Mayor Tan, really no one!" Tao Weiran looked bitter.

He was the one standing behind Tan Yaowei and he didn’t push him. Why was Tan Yaowei insisting that someone did?

Was Tan Yaowei just trying to find an excuse for his sudden fall? Wasn’t that too shameless?

Tan Yaowei’s gaze swept over every officer’s face in the room. All had the look of confusion, which was starting to make him lose face. With a cold snort, he turned to leave again.

Then the bizarre happened again. As he took a step, he felt a push that unbalanced him and made him fall again.

"Bang..."

The imposing figure of Mayor Tan once again tumbled before everyone’s eyes.

"Uh..."

Tao Weiran and everyone else’s eyes widened.

"Damn..."

Furious, Tan Yaowei sprang up and bellowed, "Who is it this time?"

"No... no, Mayor Tan, honestly no one pushed you! We were all standing by the door!" Tao Weiran looked frustrated.

He had planned to see Mayor Tan off, but was afraid to get too close due to the previous incidents. However, to his surprise, Mayor Tan actually fell again.

This time, they were several meters away from Mayor Tan and there was no movement at all.

Tan Yaowei had felt someone pushing him twice, and he insisted on it, "Isn’t there anyone who can explain this?"

Tao Weiran wore a bitter smile, "Mayor Tan, truly, no one pushed you."

"Cough, cough... One must always be decent!"

A voice suddenly came from the interrogation room, "Chief Tao, how could you do this? Although Mayor Tan is not a good person, you don’t have to be so insidious, right?"

The color drained from Tao Weiran’s face, "No... Not... Mayor Tan, don’t believe him. All the other comrades can testify for me."

"Tsk tsk, so Chief Tao is one of those petty people who dare to do but not admit! I don’t know what grudges you have against Mayor Tan, but I just saw you playing tricks behind his back."

"I didn’t... I didn’t..." Tao Weiran was as pale as a ghost, drenched in cold sweat.

Tan Yaowei angrily stormed off.

"Fuck..." Tao Weiran was furious, "What just happened?"

The police looked at each other helplessly, none of them had an answer. They had all seen what had happened; nobody had pushed Mayor Tan.

However, it was clear that Chief Tao was in trouble. If Zhang Xian’s case went well, it could leave a good impression on Mayor Tan. If it didn’t, the Chief would probably lose his job.

"Are you all deaf?" Tao Weiran seethed, "What did you see just now?"

"We didn’t see anything," they all shook their heads.

Tao Weiran’s heart fluttered uneasily at their responses. It was broad daylight, but that eerie incident was spine-chilling. Could it be a ghost prank?

"Chief, could it be that guy inside playing tricks?" one police officer suggested, "He did claim that you pushed Mayor Tan. It must have something to do with him."

"Impossible," Tao Weiran shook his head, "We were outside, he was inside. How could he have done it?"

"I don’t know," the officer admitted, "But currently he is the prime suspect."

"Let’s take a look." Tao Weiran nodded and walked into the interrogation room.

Zhang Xian was still sitting there, handcuffed to the chair. He hadn’t left the chair from the beginning.

Upon seeing Tao Weiran and the others coming in with sullen faces, he grinned, "What’s the matter, Chief Tao? Why are you looking at me that way?"

"Brat, did you cause that incident just now?" Tao Weiran snapped.

Zhang Xian feigned surprise, "What...what are you talking about?"

"Shit, don’t play dumb with me," Tao Weiran snarled, "Are you responsible for Mayor Tan’s fall? Admit it now, honesty will lighten your punishment, resistance will only make it worse."

Zhang Xian shook his head and sighed, "Chief Tao, you’re being ridiculous. Can’t you see that I was handcuffed here?"

"Then why did you say I pushed him?"

"That? Oh, sorry, I was just joking," Zhang Xian laughed, "Chief Tao, is joking illegal? If it is, then I suppose I have another charge."

"You’re joking? You think this is a FUCKING JOKE?" Tao Weiran exploded with rage and raised his hand to slap Zhang Xian.

This damn bastard! Who in the world jokes like this? His little joke could potentially end his political career! Unacceptable! Completely intolerable!

"What now? You want to hit me?" Zhang Xian crossed one leg over the other and smirked, "Before you do, why don’t you call and ask Zheng Youhua if he agrees. After all, he is your superior, right? If he doesn’t have the time, you can ask Secretary Qian. If they don’t give you permission, hitting me would be like shooting yourself in the foot. Honestly, Tan Yaowei isn’t that important"

Tao Weiran stood frozen, still sputtering about wanting to beat Zhang Xian. This bastard was absolutely infuriating.

"Chief... Chief... don’t lose your temper..." a police officer tried to restrain Tao Weiran, "Calm down, calm down! Let’s call and find out."

"Can you guarantee that this guy isn’t causing trouble?" Tao Weiran snapped, "If I call, and Director Zheng doesn’t even know who this guy is, won’t I have offended him again?"

"How serious could that be!" the officer reassured him, "It’s just asking, Director Zheng wouldn’t get upset for no reason, would he?"

"You’re right, I was too furious just now." Tao Weiran slapped his forehead and pulled out his phone to call Zheng Youhua, "Director Zheng, are you busy right now?"

"Hmm, Chief Tao, what’s up?"

"Not much, one of the suspects here said he knows you, and I just wanted to confirm."

"A suspect? Knows me? Who is it?"

"Some kid named Zhang Xian. He’s quite arrogant and claimed that he knows Secretary Qian as well."

"Zhang Xian? Are you sure his name is Zhang Xian?"

"Er..." The sudden agitation in Zheng Youhua’s voice startled Tao Weiran, "Yes... that’s correct, his name is Zhang Xian."

"Alright, wait there, I’ll be right over. Remember, make sure Mr. Zhang is well taken care of. If anyone dares to mistreat Mr. Zhang, I swear I’ll have their heads!"

Tao Weiran just held his phone, bewildered.

What the hell was going on? Was this guy really someone important? The city police department was already treating him respectfully without asking any questions and rushing over. What was happening?

After a while, he quickly pocketed his phone, walked up to Zhang Xian and said convincingly, "Young man, I was a bit hasty just now!"

Zhang Xian just chuckled, "No worries, I’m not one to bear grudges."

"Good." Tao Weiran forced a smile, then stood upright, put on a stern face and barked, "What are you guys standing around for? Uncuff Mr. Zhang immediately!"

The officers hesitated, then one of them stepped forward to unlock Zhang Xian’s handcuffs.

By now, they realized that this guy was someone big. The city police department’s attitude already made it clear. They just had to see what Secretary Qian thought.

One of the officers whispered nervously to Tao Weiran, "Chief, this situation feels too strange, you should call Mayor Tan immediately."
