Chapter 598: Chapter 617 How Much to Spend the Night

With a frown, John Brown said to Boss Qian, "Boss Qian, are you going to do business or not?"

Boss Qian immediately replied, "Of course, opening a shop means doing business, but today I need to entertain these two, so I can only ask you to come another day or check out another place."

John Brown nodded and said, "Alright, then I’ll just have to take my 300,000 business elsewhere."

"300,000... wait a minute!" Boss Qian jumped up at hearing the amount, eyes gleaming.

John Brown turned his head, frowning, "What else?"

"This... do you really have a 300,000 business to give me?" Boss Qian rubbed his hands, showing a flattering smile.

John Brown replied impatiently, "Nonsense, while you have the time to waste, I don’t have the time to waste on you."

Boss Qian gave a dry laugh, "Can you let me see the purchase order?"

Lily Joe interjected disdainfully, "Boss Qian, do you really believe that? Just him, a lousy security guard, handling a 300,000 order? That’s hilarious, what company is so ridiculous?"

Boss Qian realized as well, 300,000 isn’t a small amount, usually supervised by a manager or higher, not a mere security guard. John Brown saying so seemed to deliberately upset Lily Joe, to stand up for Jessica Wilson, so he quickly said, "Haha, then forget it, little brother you’re busy, I have business to talk about too, won’t entertain you."

John Brown smiled and nodded, "Alright, we won’t disturb you then, wish you great profits, Boss Qian."

Boss Qian let out a dry laugh, feeling uneasy with John Brown’s smile.

"Such a pretender, a mere security guard acting all important." Lily Joe sneered at John Brown with disdain.

John Brown smiled at Lily Joe, "Miss, do you think you’re valuable?"

Lily Joe glared, "Nonsense, what qualifies you to compare with me?"

John Brown eyed Lily Joe up and down, smiling, "And how much are you worth? What’s the rate for a night?"

"You..." Lily Joe realized he was calling her a prostitute, her face turning green.

John Brown shook his head, "But even someone like you isn’t worth much, with so much makeup, you’ve got to look horrible without it. Your figure’s alright, and your chest is quite high, hey, how much silicone did you fill in there?"

John Brown’s words were harsh, Lily Joe had never been insulted like this, her face looked indescribable, wanting to curse back but couldn’t think of anything.

John Robinson hadn’t said much initially, but seeing John Brown insult his girlfriend, his face darkened, standing up he shouted, "Kid, shut up!"

John Brown squinted at John Robinson, "Hey brother, your taste is really poor. As a man, I pity you, can’t even tell real from silicone. Ugh, imagining touching silicone daily is disgusting to me."

Cold light flashed in John Robinson’s eyes, he said deeply, "Kid, which company are you from? I want to see which company employs a security guard like you."

Jessica Wilson quickly said, "Forget it, let’s go."

Sarah Utah didn’t want trouble either, but Lily Joe had gone too far, and it sounded like she would continue to bother Jessica Wilson in the future. If this wasn’t resolved, Jessica would surely suffer. But she couldn’t confront them herself, so she lightly tugged on Jessica’s hand, "Jessica, it’s okay."

Jessica Wilson whispered urgently to Sarah Utah, "It’s not okay, his dad is a deputy director at the Q County Urban Construction Bureau, very powerful, and Lily Joe’s family is in business, they have money and some shady connections, we can’t offend them."

If it were in the past when her father had influence, she wouldn’t be afraid of these two, but ever since the incident with her father, she could no longer afford to mess with them, so she had to endure it silently.

She had always had a good relationship with Sarah Utah and didn’t want to involve Sarah, which is why she was eager for both of them to leave.

At this moment, James Brown swaggered forward like a small thug, holding a cigarette at a slanted angle, and casually caught John Robinson by the collar, glaring at him and saying, "So what, you figured out which company I’m with, and now you’re having our boss fire me?"

John Robinson was caught by the collar, and his momentum instantly faltered. He was the kind of person who wasn’t afraid of those who followed the rules, but dreading these small thugs, these rascals who didn’t overthink but would beat you up first; even if you retaliated later, that beating was in vain.

"What are you doing? I’m telling you, if you dare touch me, I’ll make sure you spend a lifetime in jail."

James Brown sneered and said, "Do you think the Public Security Bureau is owned by your family? Just because you’re some petty official doesn’t mean you can act all high and mighty. Let me tell you, the whole country is cracking down on corruption now. If I report you, you won’t be able to handle it. And you dare act arrogant with me here."

Lily Joe was different from John Robinson. John Robinson’s family was always in government, so he preferred to overpower people with authority. Lily’s family business had some mafia-associated elements to it, so the family conducted itself in a domineering manner, which groomed her to have a dominating personality that couldn’t tolerate failure. This is why she had always targeted Jessica Wilson. Now, seeing James Brown’s fierce demeanor, she was not afraid at all, stood beside John Robinson, and shouted, "Kid, don’t give me that crap, believe it or not, one call and I’ll have dozens of people here to cripple you?"

James Brown suddenly flicked his cigarette at Lily Joe, scaring her into a scream. Although the cigarette butt didn’t fall into her clothes, it did burn a small hole in them, and the pain from the burn caused her discomfort.

"You filthy woman, who are you trying to scare? When I was roaming the streets, you hadn’t even been born. You know a couple of small crooks and think you’re some mafia boss. Today I find you guys annoying, and I’m going to deal with you. Let me see what you can do."

Then he gave John Robinson a shove, making him stagger, pulled up a chair, sat down in a grand posture, and said, "Go ahead, call your people. I’m curious to see who you’ll call. Today I’m going to waste my time with you."

The arrogance from James Brown truly overwhelmed John Robinson and Lily Joe. They could bully others when they were easy targets, but dealing with someone like James Brown, who wasn’t easy to bully, was a headache for them.

Sarah Utah saw James Brown behaving like a ruffian and couldn’t help but reveal a sweet smile. Big Brother Brown was really amusing, doing such a convincing impersonation of even a small thug.

Jessica Wilson was very thankful for James Brown standing up for her, but seeing his demeanor, she felt something was amiss. Watching Sarah Utah’s enamored gaze at James, she felt a bit alarmed, pulling Sarah aside and whispered, "Is he really a street hooligan?"

Sarah Utah didn’t want to spoil James’s act, so she smiled and said, "Maybe."

Jessica Wilson frowned and with a lowered voice, said, "Sarah, why are you hanging out with people like this? You were always such a good girl. Hanging out with someone like this could be dangerous, you might end up in trouble any day."

Sarah blushed and retorted, "No, he’s just my good friend, not that kind of relationship. Besides, Big Brother Brown won’t be in trouble."

"Look at you, you’re practically mesmerized by him. I know I shouldn’t say this now, but Sarah, a man like that really isn’t suitable for you."

Sarah bit her lip and softly said, "Even if he was like that, I’d still like him, but he won’t be with me."

Jessica felt a bit confused by Sarah’s remark. Sarah seemed smitten with James, but her words suggested that it hadn’t progressed to that level between them. Could it be that James hadn’t agreed? That would be strange, Sarah was beautiful and had such a great personality, any man would be pleased. But this guy hasn’t made his move yet, what on earth is he thinking?

At this moment, Lily Joe had flicked away the cigarette butt and was only momentarily intimidated by James. She snorted coldly and said, "Kid, you’ve got guts, you wait here for me, and I’ll see to it you don’t walk out of this shop under the name Joe."

Saying this, she pulled out her phone and dialed, "Soldier Joe, there’s a punk here who’s harassing me, bring some people over to teach him a lesson... Yeah, bring more, I’m on Second Street."

After hanging up, Lily looked smugly at James Brown and said, "Kid, if you’ve got guts, stay right here."

James Brown lit another cigarette and said, "You expect me to stay just because you say so? That would make me an idiot." Then he stood up and said, "Let’s go, I’m not playing with you anymore."

Lily’s breath caught, James had been so fierce before, and now that she made a call, he wanted to bail. How would she stand for that? But if she and John Robinson stopped James, it seemed they didn’t have the guts, so she immediately said disdainfully, "Kid, weren’t you all tough-talking just now? Why are you chickening out now?"

James Brown cheerfully said, "With normal people, I keep my word, but with a cheap person like you, do I need to?" Then he really left with Sarah Utah and Jessica Wilson.
