The next day, John Smith and Lisa Johnson left, and in the evening, Emily Berns, John Brown, and Sarah Grandy went together to pick up their daughter.

Emily Berns held Emily Brown in her arms and got into the car, seeing only James Brown and Sarah Grandy there, the little girl asked in a childish voice, "Foster Mother, why didn’t Dad and Mom come to pick me up?"

Emily Berns smiled and said, "Emily, your parents have some things to take care of and will be away for a few days. During this time, Foster Mother and Foster Father will take care of you, okay?"

"Oh... Where did they go?" the little girl asked again.

"Out for work. They have to go out to work to buy lots of delicious food and toys for you, Emily."

"Oh, alright, I’ll stay with Foster Mother then."

Although the little girl didn’t know Emily Berns was her biological mother, she was already quite familiar with Emily Berns. When Emily would come home, she would occasionally bring her daughter to stay with her overnight, so the girl felt completely at ease with Emily Berns.

Sarah Grandy, sitting in the front, turned around and said to Emily Brown, "Emily, how about I play with you these days?"

Emily immediately responded cheerfully, "Yes, yes!" Yesterday, Sarah took her out to play and they had a lot of fun. At home, John Smith and Lisa Johnson tended to treat her like a little princess, which made them very cautious and not as intimately connected as ordinary parents and daughters are. Although Sarah was eighteen, she was quite playful, able to hit it off with the little girl quite well.

"Emily, what would you like to eat tonight? Foster Father will take you out to eat," James also wanted to get closer to his daughter, so he asked with a smiling face.

Unfortunately, his daughter seemed the least familiar with him, as she looked timidly toward Emily Berns. Emily quickly said, "Emily, your Foster Father will love you just like Foster Mother does, so if you want anything, just tell your Foster Father."

"Oh, then can I have KFC?"

"Sure." Even though James knew that these things weren’t necessarily good for her health, he wouldn’t refuse his daughter’s request.

The three of them took the little girl to KFC, and the four of them lined up together. Emily Berns held her daughter, who twisted and turned in her arms, looking around, which made James very envious. He said to his daughter, "Emily, let Foster Father hold you, okay?"

The little girl turned to look at James, blinked her eyes, and said, "No, I’m a girl; I can’t let you hold me."

James was immediately at a loss for words, while Emily Berns and Sarah Grandy both burst out laughing.

Seeing James looking both envious and dejected, Emily Berns immediately said, "Emily, this is your Foster Father, not a stranger. It’s okay to let him hold you. Besides, we are all short, only your Foster Father is tall. If he holds you, you can see farther and pick out more delicious food, right?"

Emily quickly stretched out her small arms and said to James, "Foster Father, hold me."

James was overjoyed and almost didn’t know what to do with himself. He hurriedly stretched out his arms and carefully picked up his daughter.

James had never quite understood what the connection of kinship felt like, but as he held Emily in his arms, he immediately got it. It was truly an indescribable feeling, thrilling him to his core. Holding his daughter, it seemed as if nothing else in the world mattered anymore; she was his precious little one.

Emily Berns saw the look on James’ face and felt immeasurably pleased. James was good to his daughter, loved his daughter, which made her even more confident about being with him. Her lips couldn’t help but turn up with a sweet smile.

James felt like buying everything in KFC for his daughter, just to make her happy.

Even while sitting down to eat, James couldn’t bear to set his daughter down, letting her sit on his lap, feeding her by hand. Such thoughtfulness made him an exemplary father.

Emily Berns held a chicken wing, smiling at the two of them. This was a scene she had imagined countless times, and now it was finally happening, making her feel as though she were dreaming.

"Is Foster Father good?" Emily Berns handed over a napkin to wipe her daughter’s mouth while smiling and asking her daughter.

"Good!" The little girl nodded vigorously, then turned to give James a sweet smile.

James was absolutely delighted, immediately saying, "Emily, in the future, whenever you want something, Foster Father will give it to you, okay?"

"Great, Foster Father is nice, even better than my dad."

This made John Brown feel so proud that even a snot bubble was about to pop out. When his daughter said that, didn’t it mean it was easier for her to accept him?

Children are simple. Whoever treats them well, they like, without distinguishing between close and distant relations. Now that John Brown is good to her, she naturally thinks he is a good person. Plus, with Emily Berns as her well-known foster mother around, she didn’t feel uncomfortable despite John Smith and Lisa Johnson not being there.

After eating, John Brown took his daughter directly to the toy store, letting her pick and choose freely, no matter what it was, as long as she wanted it, he would buy it for her.

John Brown’s actions were not those of a qualified father. A good father should not only love his daughter but also discipline her. Yet, John Brown was indulging, and would even try to fetch the stars in the sky if his daughter wanted them.

Of course, one cannot blame John Brown. The arrival of this daughter was sudden, and he wasn’t prepared to be a father. In a hurry, all he could think of was love, coupled with his guilt towards his daughter, leading to his natural indulgence.

When they got home, little Emily Brown was overjoyed, displaying all her toys. John Brown, Emily Berns, and Sarah Grandy all played with her, making the little girl so happy that she completely forgot about John Smith and Lisa Johnson.

After getting tired of playing, Emily Berns and Sarah Grandy helped Emily Brown take a bath. John Brown initially wanted to join in, but eventually gave up. His daughter wouldn’t mind, but with Emily Berns and Sarah Grandy there, a grown man squeezing into the bathroom seemed inappropriate.

Emily Brown quickly fell asleep, with Emily Berns sleeping in the same room with her. After his bath, John Brown returned to his room. Not long after, Sarah Grandy, wearing thin pajamas, ran into his room.

"Don’t you have your own room?" John Brown gave a light slap to Sarah Grandy’s butt as she lay on him.

"Still, I want to sleep with you." Sarah Grandy pecked John Brown’s face, wriggling a bit.

"No way, what if Emily Berns sees, what would it look like."

"Who cares, I’m your mistress, she agreed too. She takes care of the daughter, and I sleep with you. That’s normal, right?"

"You, stop fooling around and go back to sleep."

"I won’t." Sarah Grandy said, her hand already catching hold of John Brown’s sensitive part, giggling, "If you want me to leave, then you have to do it with me."

John Brown rolled his eyes, saying, "Then just sleep here."

Sarah Grandy burst into delighted laughter, pulling John Brown’s arm under her neck, entwining her legs around his, her small hand slipping inside his pants familiarly.

"Why are you still doing this?" John Brown was already reacting to Sarah Grandy’s touch after just a couple of times.

"Hehe, don’t worry, Uncle, I won’t force you. But isn’t it fun to touch? I’m used to it. I can’t sleep if I don’t touch."

These days, due to John Brown’s indulgence of Sarah Grandy, this little girl had been doing this constantly. Seeing Sarah Grandy is in a good mood now, he wanted to stop her, but she had gotten used to it, and it was too late to refuse.

When comrades meet, they drink old spirits, delighting in their drinks from morning till around two in the afternoon, getting quite tipsy.

By then, patrons started arriving at the bar, and upon ten or so people entering together, Martin Miller’s eyes lit up.

Everyone followed Martin Miller’s gaze, showing odd expressions. John Brown also looked at the group, all young people, none older than thirty, and the youngest over twenty, seven men and four women. One woman, with long hair and a shapely figure, especially her long legs, was captivating, and she had the looks of a true beauty. Martin Miller seemed to be looking at this woman.

Among the seven men, John Brown recognized two of them. Those two were from Hawk Squad, entering only as John Brown was about to leave. They were from some big family coming to gain experience, and John Brown particularly disliked them.
