Chapter 408 - 415: Emma Campbell’s Father Gambles Again_3

Emma’s house had three rooms: the central hall and a room on each side. The mahjong game earlier was played in the central hall. Emma directly pushed open the door to the room on the left, pulled Big Brother Brown inside, and with a loud "bang," shut the door.

"Emma, I’ll go buy some groceries first. Later, I’ll have a drink with Little Lee. You take good care of Little Lee," Emma’s father shouted from the central hall, then walked out with a big smile.

"Big Brother Brown..." Emma twisted the hem of her shirt, tears streaming down her face.

Big Brother Brown held Emma in his arms, wiped her tears, and said softly, "Don’t cry, it’s nothing to feel so wronged about."

Emma said bitterly, "Why does he keep lying to me? He said he wouldn’t gamble anymore, but look at him—he’s gambling here again. He must’ve been gambling before too, and only cleaned things up because he knew I was coming back."

"People don’t change that easily, especially with gambling—it’s like a drug, deeply addictive. Give him some time. At least he knows not to gamble openly in front of you now. I doubt he had such scruples before, right?"

Emma nodded, her mood improving slightly, then whispered, "Big Brother Brown, look at the kind of family I have..."

"No one gets to choose their parents. Some are born into powerful or wealthy families, have everything handed to them, and live carefree lives. But for people like us from poor families, we have to rely on our own effort to change our lives. We’re going to make sure our kids become second-generation rich, aren’t we?"

Emma flushed crimson at once, but a sparkle of hope and longing appeared in her eyes. She said, "Big Brother Brown, would you really let me have your child?"

"Of course I would. I can’t let you stay with me for a lifetime without even having a child."

"That’s wonderful! I was afraid that if Big Brother Brown gets married, having a child would make me a burden to you."

Big Brother Brown felt a bit awkward and said, "Emma, don’t worry. I’d never leave you behind, no matter what. Besides, I do have some money saved up, so taking care of you and the child wouldn’t be a problem."

After saying this, Big Brother Brown’s face turned a little red. He realized that he was practically admitting he planned to keep Emma as his mistress.

But Emma didn’t overthink it. She said excitedly, "As long as Big Brother Brown lets me have a child, I’ll earn money myself to raise them. I won’t let you have a burden, and I don’t want to make things difficult for you with your wife."

Big Brother Brown was deeply moved. A good girl like Emma was truly rare. He hugged her tightly and whispered into her ear, "Your Big Brother Brown saved up a little private stash; taking care of you is definitely not a problem."

Emma chuckled softly and said, "Big Brother Brown, you’re so bad! You’ve been hiding a private stash!"

Big Brother Brown laughed heartily and said, "Of course! For my little Emma, I have to save up something. Originally, it was meant to be my dowry. But now that I’ve married Gina, a rich woman, I no longer need it, so it’s just right for you."

Emma’s cheeks turned red. When Big Brother Brown mentioned Gina Lopez, she didn’t feel upset at all. She looked up at him and said, "Big Brother Brown, I don’t want money. I just want you to like me."

"Hmm, Big Brother Brown will like you forever, never changing." Big Brother Brown made Emma a promise—a promise he intended to keep for his entire life. No matter how great the difficulties, he wouldn’t back down.
