Chapter 405: Chapter 413 Emily Lopez Notices Again
John Brown immediately felt powerless when this topic came up and said, "Melody, I swear I didn’t mean that."
Melody Yoody glared at him, "Then what do you mean? I’m already carrying your child, and instead of marrying me, you choose to marry her?"
"Don’t get upset, don’t get upset, think about the baby," John Brown said hastily, rubbing her back and patting his chest.
Melody’s anger gradually subsided as she saw John acting so cautious and worried. She replied, "Alright, don’t act like some servant—I’m not the Empress Dowager."
"If I were a servant, how could I make the Dowager pregnant?"
"Hmph! You’re not right now, but make me mad one day, and I’ll turn you into an actual servant," Melody threatened, grabbing John’s pants in a bold move.
"No, no, my dear little ancestor, please let me go—it hurts," John begged.
"Hmph!" Melody shot him a contemptuous look but instead of releasing him, she changed her grip—she began to caress lightly.
"Melody... you..." Melody’s actions immediately sparked a reaction from John, his breathing quickening.
"I want you," Melody said, her eyes shimmering with desire.
"This is the office... isn’t that inappropriate?"
Melody raised her wrist and smirked, "Haven’t you noticed it’s already past office hours?"
Only then did John realize it was after five and the entire town office was eerily quiet.
Stretching out his arms, he pulled Melody into a tight embrace and kissed her passionately. Melody responded with equal enthusiasm.
John was thoroughly engrossed in the kiss. Knowing Melody was carrying his child filled him with joy, mingled with guilt, and he was determined to make up for it in his own way.
It was nearly seven when John finally returned home. Opening the door and stepping inside, he saw Sandra sitting on the couch. Changing out of his shoes, he asked, "Where’s your sister?"
"She knows you’ve been messing around out there—she’s furious and stormed off," Sandra said, pouting and glaring at John.
John sheepishly sat beside Sandra and said, "Sandra, why are you so upset?"
"Hmph! You have such a good wife like my sister, yet you’re always fooling around outside. How could I not be mad? If you’re going to cheat, you might as well do it with me—I’m right here!"
"Cough, cough, cough..." John choked on his own saliva, nearly suffocating. He could never allow such a thing to happen—messing around with his own sister-in-law was unthinkable!
"What’s up? Am I really worse than those random women outside?" Sandra scowled at John.
John forced an awkward smile, saying, "Sandra, how could you not be as good as those women outside? You’re adorable. Today I went to meet Melody—your sister asked me to go, so don’t get any crazy ideas."
"My sister asked you to? She must be out of her mind! She knows you two have history, yet she lets you meet up? Isn’t she just inviting trouble and rekindling old flames?"
"Well... my marriage to your sister happened quite fast. I still have some loose ends to tie up. She agreed, Sandra, stop making trouble—how about Brother-in-law makes dinner for you?" He immediately got up to escape into the kitchen.
But Sandra followed him, standing behind him. "Brother-in-law, I’m not mad anymore—I just have one question for you."
"Go ahead," John replied while swiftly chopping vegetables.
"Have you seriously never thought about cheating with me?"
"Bang!" His knife slipped and almost cut his hand.
"Don’t lie! Liars get eaten by wolves," Sandra teased.
"Absolutely not, never! You’re my sister-in-law—I see you as my own sister. How could I cheat with you?"
"Liar. Men love to cheat with their sisters-in-law—they just don’t always have the guts to act on it."
John coughed again, unsure how to respond.
"If you don’t want to, why do you always look so enchanted when you touch my feet?" Sandra raised her brows.
At that moment, John broke out in a cold sweat. Normally, he acted nonchalantly around Sandra, thinking their situation was somewhat amusing. But now that she brought it up so plainly, he was mortified.
Sandra giggled, "Brother-in-law, don’t be embarrassed—I’m not mad. In fact, it makes me happy. If you stop treating me this way, I’ll really get angry! If you do something bad again, I won’t just refuse to help—I’ll sabotage you! Hmph, whether it’s Emma Campbell or Melody Yoody, don’t even dream about them."
"Um... Sandra..."
"Hehe, naughty Brother-in-law, you’re one of those guys with a wandering eye but no guts to act, huh?"
Coughing again.
"Haha, relax. I’m just teasing. My sister went out for a bath—she’ll be back soon."
"Why go out for a bath? Why not use our home bathroom instead?"
"She said she wanted a good soak and something fancy like a milk bath or rose bath—to smell good and be ready for you tonight. She’s trying to keep your wandering eye in check."
John knocked Sandra lightly on the head. "You little troublemaker, stop talking nonsense."
"Seriously, my sister’s so good to you—you’d better stop wandering around."
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Sandra sprang up to open it and Gina Lopez walked in.
"Sis, Brother-in-law’s back! I’ve checked—he hasn’t done anything bad," Sandra said, taking Gina’s bath bucket with an impish smile.
Gina glanced toward the kitchen where John stood, smiled faintly at him, and turned back to Sandra. "How did you check?"
"I sniffed him to see if he smelled like other women. My nose is sharp, you know. He smells like women but not like he’s been up to anything naughty—so he’s innocent this time."
Gina looked at her sister skeptically. "Since when could you distinguish these scents?"
"I just figured it out from you two—from now on, I can always tell. When you and Brother-in-law have been up to something, I can smell it immediately!"
Gina’s cheeks turned bright red. Having such private matters exposed so bluntly in front of her sister was unbelievably awkward.
After the initial embarrassment, Gina grew irritated, grabbed Sandra’s arm, and said, "From now on, stop sniffing me and your Brother-in-law!"
Sandra giggled. "I don’t need to sniff deliberately—you just walk by, and I can tell."
"You... Then you should move out—don’t live here anymore!"
"Haha, big sis, I’m joking. I don’t have that skill, come on."
"You..." Gina was speechless with frustration at her mischievous sister.
John came to the kitchen door, saying, "Dear, don’t get mad at Sandra—she’s just joking around as usual."
"This crazy girl—what kind of decent lady jokes like this?"
Tonight, neither Lucy Campbell nor Emily Jenkins came over, unlike earlier days when John was living alone. Back then, they visited freely and often. Now that it’s John and Gina’s home, those carefree visits no longer happen.
Later that night, John obediently gave Sandra another foot massage, rubbing her legs as well, though he couldn’t stop thinking about her earlier words: "If you’re going to cheat, you might as well cheat with me."
This sister-in-law was almost too alluring. To say John didn’t harbor such thoughts was pure denial. Daily being around a gorgeous, carefree woman like Sandra, especially with her casual, revealing attire and the privilege to touch her smooth legs and feet—it felt like she was teasing, daring him to act.
Fortunately, Sandra became engrossed in a TV show tonight, staying relatively quiet despite asking for a massage. John managed to end the seemingly erotic yet torturous task earlier than usual.
Finally retreating to his bedroom, John lay down with a heavy heart. Melody Yoody was now pregnant with his child, a responsibility he couldn’t ignore. He knew Melody wasn’t the type to lie about such a thing—she might push him, but she wouldn’t fabricate stories.
But now that he was married to Gina, could he really abandon her to be with Melody? He couldn’t bring himself to voice such a decision.
"How’s Melody?" Gina asked as she settled onto the bed next to John.
John nodded, lying beside her. "She’s alright."
Gina lowered herself onto the bed and turned off the bedside lamp, cuddling close to John. "Don’t let it get you down. You can’t give her marriage now, but she’ll figure out her own life—isn’t that still a good thing?"
John sighed quietly. If things were as Gina described, he might eventually come to terms with it. But reality was far more complicated, leaving him feeling trapped.
"Honey, guess what—I took a bath today," Gina whispered, nudging him lightly.
"Oh, I know," John replied absentmindedly.
"Ugh, you’re annoying. I mean, I took a bath today," Gina repeated with emphasis.
John hesitated for a second, then suddenly understood what she meant, making him visibly excited.
