Chapter 380: Chapter 387: Everything is the Same
At this moment, Robert Johnson showed no trace of hostility on his face and could still face James Brown with a smile—a man with quite a deep and calculating mind.
"I’m older than you, so I’ll take the liberty of calling you James," he said.
"That’s only right," James replied.
"James, you’re really going to make me jealous. Gina was the campus belle at our school, pursued by countless admirers who all came back empty-handed. And now you’ve won the prize. If those college pursuers knew about it, I don’t know how many hearts would be broken," said Robert.
James Brown turned and smiled at Gina Lopez, saying: "I’ve always thought myself very lucky that Gina would marry me, which indeed makes me very proud."
Gina Lopez, meeting James Brown’s gaze, immediately showed a happy smile on her face, unconsciously holding his hand tighter. Between a husband and wife, feelings do tend to grow easily—in just a few days together, Gina Lopez and James Brown were already so close.
Robert’s expression changed slightly; he had been hoping that Gina Lopez was just pretending, but seeing their affection for each other, especially the sweet, happy look Gina gave James, he knew that Gina Lopez had truly married this James Brown.
"Haha, then I won’t keep you from shopping. Oh, by the way, Gina, I’ll visit your company on Monday about the cooperation. I hope you’ll give it some more thought," he said.
When it came to business, Gina Lopez immediately became serious and said: "Senior Johnson, I will seriously consider it, but the company isn’t mine after all, and I’m just an employee. Whether we can successfully collaborate isn’t something I can decide on my own."
Robert nodded, "I understand, business is business, and I’m confident in our proposed terms of cooperation."
"Alright, let’s talk more about it on Monday then."
After Robert left, Emily Lopez teased James Brown while hanging on his arm: "Brother-in-law, that was a rival in love, wasn’t it?"
Gina Lopez immediately protested: "Don’t talk nonsense; I have nothing to do with him. He started a company which might be a good fit for us to cooperate, so we were just discussing that."
Emily Lopez grinned mischievously, "I didn’t say you had anything to do with him. I just said he wanted to pursue you, didn’t you see how sad he looked when he found out you were married?"
Gina Lopez looked anxious as she turned to James Brown, who firmly squeezed her hand, reassuringly saying: "I know, my wife is so beautiful that I wouldn’t believe it if no one pursued her. But it’s their business to pursue; can’t blame you for that."
Gina Lopez relaxed, gripped James Brown’s hand back, and they sweetly continued shopping together.
After finishing in the men’s section, James Brown ended up with several bags in hand—all purchases made by Gina Lopez, with strategic advice from Emily Lopez. The latter was even more proactive in picking out clothes for James Brown than Gina Lopez, his wife, commenting on every outfit as if she took it more seriously.
They moved up to another floor to the women’s section, where Gina Lopez and Emily Lopez were in their element. Gina Lopez usually shopped decisively—liking something meant buying it—but this time, she was particularly choosy, seeking James Brown’s opinion on every outfit she tried.
Women in love do indeed change, and for Gina Lopez, who was both married and in love, the changes were even more pronounced.
After selecting a business suit, Gina Lopez was about to pay when Emily Lopez suddenly said, "Make it two."
"You want one too?" Gina Lopez asked in surprise.
Emily Lopez giggled, "I feel good matching with you. From now on, whatever you buy, I’ll buy."
Gina Lopez rolled her eyes at her sister and said, "Let’s see if you actually wear what I buy you."
Emily Lopez sneaked a glance at James Brown and said: "Of course, I’ll wear it. When we were young, we always had matching stuff, and it was quite a surprise for others when we went out. I miss that feeling and want to try it again."
Gina Lopez seemed to reminisce about the past as well, showing a smile on her face.
But James Brown couldn’t shake the feeling that Emily Lopez had some other ideas in mind, ideas that involved him. Perhaps one day she might play the game of pretending to be her sister again—it would not be easy to handle if by any chance he mistook Emily Lopez for... James Brown’s heartbeat quickened, and he couldn’t help but glance at Emily Lopez.
When they reached the lingerie department, James Brown hesitated, but Emily Lopez dragged him in, saying with a grin, "What’s there to be embarrassed about? You’re choosing underwear for your sister-in-law, right?"
James Brown thought to himself that she was there as well, yet he found himself unexpectedly pulled along.
Gina Lopez and James Brown had shopped for lingerie together before, back when James was still pretending to be her boyfriend. But the feeling back then was completely different from now. At that time, she was too embarrassed to let James see the lingerie, but now she actually wanted James’s help in picking them out. After all, he was the only one who would see her in it.
However, since Emily Lopez was here, Gina Lopez still felt a bit shy about asking James to help her choose, so she just dragged Emily around, turning James into a bodyguard following them.
Watching the two pick out lingerie, James couldn’t help but feel his heart heat up. Although Gina was now his wife, she was still quite conservative. To this day, he hadn’t really had the opportunity to appreciate Gina’s body. But looking at Emily, a wicked thought suddenly crossed his mind: what would Emily look like in these lingerie?
James had a very comfortable weekend. After shopping with Gina and Emily, they had a meal outside before returning home. As soon as the two sisters got home, Emily pulled Gina into her bedroom. In a short while, they both came out together.
James was stunned. He spent every day with the two sisters, but they had never dressed exactly alike. Yet today, they wore the same clothes, had the same hairstyles, and even had identical smiles on their faces. They stood before James, not saying a word, obviously waiting for him to tell them apart.
James looked at the one on his left, then the one on his right. No matter how he looked, the two seemed identical, indistinguishable as to who was Gina and who was Emily. He finally said with a wry smile, "Wife, Emily, stop teasing me, I really can’t tell you apart."
The one on the left immediately giggled and winked at James, "Well now, brother-in-law, this isn’t too good, is it? If you can’t even recognize your own wife, what if one day you mistake me for her? That’d be quite the mishap."
The Gina on the right spat at Emily with a scolding tone: "Are you dumb? If he wants to take advantage of you, you’d just let him?"
Emily replied playfully: "Hehe, he’s my brother-in-law. What’s a little advantage taken between us? It’s not like it’s someone else. We’re sisters, and your husband is practically mine too. I don’t mind."
James was suddenly at a loss for words; this little aunt of his really knew how to stir things up.
Gina wasn’t angry either. She was already accustomed to her sister’s mischievous nature and, feeling particularly good today, even joined in on teasing her sister: "If you want to take advantage, go ahead. One is my sister and the other’s my husband, both the dearest to me."
Emily laughed out loud and ran over to hug James’s arm, cheerfully saying, "So now your husband belongs to me."
"You can have him. I’m too lazy to deal with you guys." With that, she turned and went back into the bedroom.
Emily turned to James and said, "Well, brother-in-law, now that sis has given you to me, come on, give your lady a leg massage."
James knocked on Emily’s head, "Let’s get that head of yours clear first before anything else."
Emily giggled, let go of James’s arm, and said, "I’m gonna try on more clothes!" And with that, she ran into the bedroom, not even bothering to close the door.
Gina immediately glared and scolded, "You little devil, close the door!"
Emily said cheerily, "Are you afraid to let brother-in-law see?"
"What do I have to be afraid of, I’ve still got you."
"I’m not scared either."
"How can your skin be so thick?"
"Hehe, well, he’s my brother-in-law. Brother-in-law, come close the door."
James’s face darkened, this Emily really had a way with things. But knowing that she hadn’t changed her clothes yet, he went over to close the door, thinking to himself, "With this little aunt around, life is certainly going to be full of excitement. And it seems it’s going to be quite enduring too."
Lighting a cigarette, James relaxed on the sofa, randomly answering his phone. No matter what, he really liked this kind of life: having a beautiful and capable wife, a naughty and cute little aunt, endless joy at home every day. It seemed there was nothing wrong with living like this for the rest of his life.
The phone rang; it was Alice Brown calling. James looked at the bedroom door and decided to answer. As soon as the call connected, Alice urgently said, "Mr. Smith, something’s wrong, Laura has been taken away."
James’s brow furrowed, "Is it John Smith?"
"No, Laura attended an event tonight, drank a bit, passed out, and then was taken to the M Hotel by someone who doesn’t seem like a good character at all. It was one of Laura’s friends who called me, said that person seemed suspicious and might be intending to harm Laura."
"Alright, I’m on my way." James stood up. This issue was almost certainly caused by John Smith, and since it arose because of him, he had no reason not to get involved.
