Chapter 333: Chapter 341: Shotgun Wedding_2

"Big Brother Brown, don’t you like Sister Lopez?"

"It’s not that I don’t like her, but being with her doesn’t feel the same as being with you, so right now I’m really in a dilemma."

That was enough for Emma Campbell. With a sweet smile, she said, "Big Brother Brown, no matter what you do, I’ll support you." Then she laid her face against James Brown’s chest, feeling nothing but sweetness in her heart.

The next morning, James Brown took the dependent Emma Campbell back to school, and on the way, he received a call from Gina Lopez, asking him to pick her up and take her to the company.

James Brown had no choice but to detour to Gina Lopez’s apartment complex, where Gina was already waiting for him at the entrance. She opened the car door and got in.

At this time, Gina was once again the image of a shrewd and capable woman, her hair done up in a bun, in a professional suit, seemingly not showing any signs of the tiredness and helplessness of the past two days. However, James Brown could still see a trace of anxiety in her eyes.

"Why did you leave yesterday?" Gina asked, turning her head to look at James as soon as she got in the car.

James felt a bit unnerved by Gina’s gaze and said, "You were sleeping soundly yesterday, so I went home."

Gina spoke in an irrefutable tone, "You are my husband, aren’t you? Why aren’t you staying with me? You will cancel that room today and move into my place."

James’s mouth twitched as he replied, "No need, I like where I live, and I’m used to it."

"Fine, if you won’t move in with me, then I’ll move to your place. Even though your place is smaller, we only need one bedroom."

James gave a wry smile, "Gina, can you give me some time to adjust? Right now, I really don’t feel like I’m married."

"No way, you’ve already promised my mom that we’re going to have a baby. How will I get pregnant if you’re not living with me?"

James took a deep breath, looked straight into Gina’s eyes, and slowly said, "Gina, I hope you don’t push me. Having a baby is a big life event, it’s a life, not a tool. We can understand mom’s wishes, but we must also be responsible for our offspring. Think about it, if you were born for some purpose and not really wanted by your parents, how would you feel? Plus, what if, because we weren’t ready, we had a baby with health problems? Wouldn’t we feel guilty for a lifetime?"

Gina and James locked eyes, and she saw in his gaze a resolute firmness she had never seen before in him. To her, James had always been easy to talk to, but on this matter, she felt his unyielding determination.

"What about my mom? What if she gets mad or her condition worsens because I’m not pregnant?"

"I’ll talk to mom about that. I guarantee she won’t get mad or anxious. How’s that?"

"Really? Can you do that?"

"Don’t worry, when James Brown makes a promise, he keeps it."

Locking gazes with James again, Gina finally nodded, saying, "Okay, if you can’t do it, then you have to get me pregnant."

"No problem," James agreed readily this time, and then started the car.

When they arrived at the company’s garage, James turned off the engine, but Gina didn’t get out of the car immediately. After a moment of hesitation, she said, "James, I’m sorry, but there’s one more thing I need to discuss with you."

"Go ahead."

"It’s about our marriage. I don’t want people at the company to know about it. If everyone knows about our relationship, it will affect how they see you and could influence work efficiency and attitudes. I don’t want people to say that this company is run by a husband and wife."

"No problem," James said promptly, "as long as you don’t tell, I won’t either."

Gina breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Okay, let’s go."

As they entered the company, employees greeted them, yet their looks carried a hint of curiosity, since Gina’s hasty departure and tears that day had already sparked plenty of gossip.

But for the moment, Gina and James were unaware of it.

Once Gina reached her office, she immediately discussed the company’s matters with Sunny Nguyen. After discussing business, Sunny showed concern by asking, "How is your aunt’s illness?"

Gina sighed and said, "Not good, I’m afraid she doesn’t have many days left."

Sunny said a few comforting words, but there really wasn’t much that could be done in such situations.

"Sister Sunny, James and I have registered for marriage," Gina suddenly brought up this topic.

"Registered? Registered for what?" Sunny was momentarily not thinking in that direction.

James said with some bitterness, "I’m saying that we’ve... got married for real this time."

"What?" Sunny exclaimed, her face suddenly changing, visibly uncomfortable. Although she had always said her relationship with James was just that and not expecting much, she was still profoundly shocked by the sudden news of Gina and James’s marriage.
