Chapter 327: Chapter 333 Emily Lopez’s Perseverance
James Brown drove to the entrance of the complex, and everyone got out of the car. Emily Lopez then called out, "Oh, I need to go buy some stuff. Brother-in-law, come with me, will you?"
Gina Lopez’s parents didn’t suspect anything and laughed, "Why don’t you drive there yourself? Why do you need your brother-in-law to go with you?"
Emily Lopez pouted her lips and said, "We’re not driving, just going to the supermarket at the entrance to buy some things."
Jonathan Lopez laughed and said, "Then off you go, but come back quickly, so we can continue playing."
James Brown and Emily Lopez walked out of the complex, and Emily immediately hooked James Brown’s arm, pinching his arm with her little hand and complained, "You naughty brother-in-law, why did you push me?"
James Brown’s face turned a bit red, and he coughed, saying, "Emily, at that time..."
Emily Lopez gave James Brown a white look, interrupting him and said with a pout, "Annoying, if you wanted to touch, just touch. I’m not stopping you. To suddenly do that, who could bear it?"
James Brown wanted to explain, but this matter was indeed hard to explain. He couldn’t say that it was unintentional at that time, but unintentional or not, it doesn’t justify having taken off Emily Lopez’s socks and touching for so long.
"Hehe, I’m not mad at you, but maybe my sister is starting to like you more and more now, your touch really feels nice." Emily Lopez teased James Brown with a wink.
James Brown’s face turned even redder, and he could only force a dry laugh.
"Brother-in-law, so tell me, do you prefer to touch my feet? Or do you like touching my sister’s?"
"Um..."
"Tell me, no lying."
"Alright, your sister’s feet, it was just that one time when she was injured, and I helped clean her wound. I haven’t touched them at other times."
Emily Lopez’s eyes lit up, then proudly said, "So what you mean is, you still prefer touching mine."
James Brown felt this question was really difficult to answer. To say that he didn’t like it would be against his conscience; every time he touched Emily Lopez’s little feet, he would be emotionally disturbed. But to say he liked it, how could he then face Emily Lopez?
"Do you like it or not?" Emily Lopez gently shook James Brown’s arm, her voice sweet and sticky.
"Alright, I admit I like it, but Emily..."
Emily Lopez immediately interrupted James Brown, giggling and said, "As long as you like it, that’s enough, I don’t care about the rest."
"Emily..." James Brown still wanted to say something.
But Emily Lopez quickly pulled on James Brown’s arm, urging, "Hurry up, let’s quickly go buy some things, so we can continue playing Mahjong when we get back. I lost so much during the day, tonight I have to win it back."
James Brown shook his head helplessly, as Emily Lopez didn’t give him a chance to explain, nor did she want to hear his explanation. What exactly was this girl thinking?
Upon returning home, the Mahjong table was immediately set up, and James Brown had to go back into battle, but he didn’t extend his feet forward anymore, feeling that to continue doing so would be really too sinful.
"Two of sticks!" Emily Lopez discarded a tile, slamming it down on the table with a loud bang.
Jonathan Lopez glared at her and said, "Why do you make such a fuss over a game of mahjong?"
Emily Lopez pouted and responded, "It’s not my fault I can’t win. What’s wrong with slamming down the tiles to change my luck?"
Jonathan Lopez drew a tile and said, "Mahjong tiles have spirits too. The more you slam them, the more dissatisfied you are with them, the less likely they are to give you good hands. You have to coax them and compliment them to get good cards."
Emily Lopez’s mother laughed and said, "I tell you, Sandra, normally you’re the one winning. It’s about time you got a taste of losing."
"Hmph, I’m not going to lose. Why is this chair so uncomfortable?" With that, she slid down, almost lying half-reclined in the chair.
"You girl, have some decorum, what kind of posture is that?" Jonathan Lopez scolded his daughter.
Emily Lopez just giggled triumphantly and said, "Isn’t this comfortable?"
Emily Lopez had been annoyed just a moment ago because James Brown’s foot hadn’t been stretching out towards her; now, assuming this posture, her own foot reached all the way to the opposite side, leaving James no room to dodge.
Watching Emily Lopez’s mischievous demeanor, James Brown was caught between laughter and tears. Not wanting to know what she would do if he didn’t appease her, he had no choice but to extend his foot forward a bit more.
Emily Lopez got it right away, sat up a bit more, and only when James Brown’s foot reached the middle did she properly sit and then proudly said, "There, I’m sitting properly now. Happy? No more nagging." She then gave James Brown a wink.
At this moment, James Brown could only respond to his playful sister-in-law with a smile.
The sneaky footsie under the table between Emily Lopez and James Brown had become second nature to them. The four feet had a blast mingling below, and whether the cards won or not was of no importance. Their mother winning big tonight was a true delight.
Finally, the mahjong game ended, and it was past eleven o’clock. James Brown washed up briefly and returned to Gina Lopez’s bedroom, where Gina sat on the bed with a laptop on her legs, engrossed in whatever was on the screen, oblivious to her shoulder being mostly exposed.
A few strands of hair hung over her forehead, and at that moment, Gina exuded a sense of seriousness laced with laziness, and the partially exposed shoulder added a touch of allure.
James Brown had been tangled up in little flirts with Emily Lopez all evening, making him quite restless. Now seeing Gina in such a tempting pose, he could not help but take a few extra looks, feeling a fire burning in his heart.
Although he had always kept a respectful distance from Gina, it wasn’t because she wasn’t beautiful or appealing, but rather because he felt they were on different paths in life, unable to come together.
Gina still held a strong attraction for him, and fueled by Emily’s earlier antics, he felt a strong urge to embrace Gina and pin her beneath him.
At this moment, Gina looked up and asked, "Are you done playing?"
"Yeah, it’s finished. Mom won again."
"It’s mom’s birthday; let her win some. It makes her happy," Gina said with a gentle smile. "Did you lose all your money?"
"I didn’t lose everything, but pretty close. You’ll have to cover for me."
Gina closed the laptop and casually placed it on the bedside table. Wrapping her shoulders, she laughed and said, "I’m not covering for you. You, as a son-in-law, should expect to lose some money to your mother-in-law. Why would I need to cover that?"
James Brown got into bed and lay down directly, stretching languidly and said, "Now you’re not only withholding my reward, but you also refuse to reimburse my expenses. Isn’t that going a bit too far?"
