Chapter 297: Chapter 305: Cute and Adorable
When Emma Campbell awoke the next day, James Brown was surprisingly not by her side. Sounds came from the kitchen outside, which immediately filled Emma with an incredibly sweet feeling. James hadn’t called for her but was instead making breakfast—could this be the legendary breakfast made with love?
However, Emma was not the type of girl who just waited to be pampered and doted on by a man. In her heart, she believed she should be the one serving James Brown. He was a man meant for great things; how could he be the one to serve her instead?
She quickly sat up but then frowned slightly, her hand covering her abdomen. Even though James had been gentle yesterday, moving now still brought a faint pain.
After getting accustomed to the discomfort, Emma felt much better. She got out of bed, found some clothes to put on from the wardrobe, and as she turned back to fold the blanket, she noticed a small crimson bloodstain on the bedsheets.
The sight caused Emma’s face to flush red, just like the bloodstain on the sheet.
She replaced the bedsheet and, holding her pajamas, went into the bathroom thinking of washing it. Yet, James came in, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind, and said, "Why don’t you rest a bit longer? You’re up so early to wash the sheets."
Emma’s hands caressed the back of James’s hands, her head leaned against his shoulder, and she looked up at him with happiness in her voice, "I’m fine now, but there’s blood on the sheets... I need to get them clean."
James’s heart stirred at the mention of blood, a symbol of masculine pride and triumph. He leaned down to kiss Emma’s face and suggested, "Don’t wash it. Why not keep this bedsheet as a memento?"
Emma shook her head quickly and said: "No, no, if Ms. Reed finds out, she’ll definitely get angry at you."
James’s body tensed immediately, and Emma felt it. She turned her head, kissed his face, and reassured him, "Big Brother Brown, Emma knows what to do. I’ll never cause trouble for you. I love you and will love you for life without any change. Emma doesn’t want to put you in a difficult position either; you just be at ease and be with Ms. Reed."
James held Emma tightly, saying nothing, for nothing could compare to the depth of Emma’s feelings for him, as vast as an ocean.
"Alright, I’ll wash the bedsheet now. Today, it’ll be your turn to make breakfast, Big Brother Brown." Emma kissed James once more and smiled sweetly as she pulled away from his hands.
James nodded and replied, "Then I’ll go make food for my little Emma."
No sooner had James left the bathroom than a knock at the door sounded; he hurried to open it, and Lucy Campbell and Emily Jenkins walked in together. It seemed that recently, even the lazy Emily could not bring herself to sleep in when he was at home.
They entered without any formality, and Emily immediately spotted Emma, exclaiming with surprise, "Emma is here too?"
Emma had just filled a basin with water to wash the sheet, but now she couldn’t continue.
In the past, when she stayed at James’s place, she felt a bit embarrassed to see Emily but after a few occasions, it became natural. Today, however, she felt a rush of groundless guilt, her face flushing as she said, "Sister Sarah, you’re here."
"Oh, Emma, you look different today," Emily observed, standing at the bathroom’s entrance, scrutinizing Emma up and down.
"No... no way," Emma stammered, especially bad at lying. Under Emily’s gaze, she was at a loss, not even knowing where to place her hands and feet.
"A bit shy, are we? You must have done something naughty, people only blush like that when they’ve been bad," Emily teased, excited, pulling Emma out and pressing, "Come on, confess. What naughty thing have you done?"
"I haven’t... not at all," Emma nearly wished she could just crawl into a hole and disappear.
Lucy looked at Emma too. Unlike the light-hearted Emily, she noticed Emma’s coy yet beguiling demeanor and understood what had transpired. This caused her some discomfort, which didn’t show on her face.
As a woman grown in the Capital of SSUP, her acquaintance with young men of power and influence taught her they were never short of female company; none were strangers to romantic encounters before marriage. Thus, Lucy could accept this reality; she did not interfere nor disrupt James’s affairs, focusing instead on the eventual outcome—securing her place by his side in the end, regardless of how many women he knew before marriage.
This might seem an unthinkable notion, but Lucy, a woman quite out of the ordinary, held thoughts unlike the average person. Suppressing her discomfort, she smiled, took Emma’s hand, and complimented, "Emma, you look even prettier today."
Emma grew more embarrassed, mumbling unsurely in response.
"Hehe, seems like you haven’t freshened up yet. Better hurry," she said.
Emma quickly agreed and dashed back into the bathroom. But after only a couple of steps, she couldn’t help but slow down.
Lucy was somewhat puzzled; it wasn’t Emma’s first time staying over at James’s place. Why had she only lost her virginity now? James had refrained for so long, which, whatever the reason, was remarkably rare.
Normally, when a woman encounters such a situation, she’d definitely be overcome with jealousy, but Lucy Campbell found James Brown’s unique reaction in this matter, which must be due to her generosity and wisdom.
Emily Jenkins still didn’t understand what was going on, and confusedly said to Lucy Campbell, "Sister Emily, why do I feel like Emma did something bad? If I did something bad, I’d be just like this."
Lucy Campbell pinched Emily Jenkins’ cheek and laughed, "It’s because you have a pure heart, so you’d feel guilty for doing something bad."
Emily Jenkins stuck out her tongue embarrassedly and said, "It’s not that I have a pure heart; people always say I’m a bit of an airhead."
Lucy Campbell couldn’t help but laugh with a "pfft" and said, "Alright, you airhead, let’s get ready for breakfast."
James Brown made a lavish breakfast today, with eggs, milk, and congee with lean pork and preserved egg. During breakfast, James Brown even personally peeled an egg for Emma Campbell.
"Ahh, I’m so jealous, when will I have such a considerate and gentle boyfriend?" Emily Jenkins took a big gulp of the congee, looking enviously at Emma Campbell.
James Brown smiled and said, "I think it should be easy if you’re willing."
Emily Jenkins took another bite of the egg, gulping down more than half in one go, and mumbled with her mouth full, "Easy what, where can you find good men so easily now? The rich ones aren’t considerate, the considerate ones aren’t rich. Ah, if I really can’t find a good boyfriend..." As she said this, Emily Jenkins’ eyes rolled around on the faces of James Brown and Emma Campbell.
James Brown laughed and said, "What kind of scheme are you cooking up now? Spill it."
Emily Jenkins giggled and said, "Big Brother Brown, Emma, can we discuss something?"
"No way, if you’re discussing something with me, I’m sure it’s my loss."
Emily Jenkins instantly deflated like a punctured ball, pouting without saying a word.
Emma Campbell hurriedly said: "Sister Sarah, just speak up." She wasn’t trying to contradict James Brown, but she knew that James Brown was just teasing Emily Jenkins.
Emily Jenkins, who was truly guileless, perked up immediately after Emma Campbell’s encouragement and said cheerfully, "If I can’t find a good boyfriend in the future, can I just hang out with you guys? Hehe, I mean, I’ll just mooch off you for food and drink, nothing else, and I won’t steal your Big Brother Brown."
James Brown laughed, "Aren’t you mooching food and drinks right now?"
Emily Jenkins said earnestly, "It’s different. You aren’t married yet, and Emma doesn’t often stay here. If you do get married, you’ll start to find me annoying, so we need to discuss this beforehand, right? I will definitely contribute to the food budget, and I’ll also buy you gifts."
"That’s right, that’s right, Sister Emily should join in too." Fearing her own strength was not enough, Emily Jenkins also pulled Lucy Campbell into the mix.
Lucy Campbell chuckled lightly and said, "You want to freeload but also pull me in with you? However, this idea isn’t bad, I agree. But the decision doesn’t seem to be up to me; it’s up to James Brown and Emma, right?"
Emily Jenkins immediately looked eagerly at James Brown, then at Emma Campbell.
Emily Jenkins was just a year younger than James Brown, already a full-grown adult, with such big...attributes, and from her figure, she definitely had the look of a woman. But when she used that look on him, she unexpectedly seemed very cute, extremely so. Especially with her long eyelashes fluttering, and her eyes twinkling like stars, she was just too adorable.
"This matter is up to Emma. I have no say," James Brown immediately passed the decision-making power to Emma Campbell.
Emma Campbell looked at James Brown, saw a kind of encouragement in his eyes, and understood that he was giving her the rights of the lady of the house. In fact, he had already agreed, and her heart warmed immensely. Smilingly, she said, "Of course, that would be nice, it will be more lively."
Emily Jenkins immediately cried out excitedly, hugged Emma Campbell, and planted a kiss on her cheek, saying, "Emma, you are just too great, I love you to death!"
Emma Campbell was immediately embarrassed, while James Brown and Lucy Campbell just exchanged knowing smiles. Emily Jenkins, despite being an adult, always acted like a child – and it somehow just made her all the more lovable. She was indeed an odd one.
After kissing Emma Campbell, Emily Jenkins excitedly opened her arms towards James Brown. James Brown got a shock, about to dodge, but Emily Jenkins just giggled and said, "Never mind, never mind, I won’t hug or kiss Big Brother Brown, I don’t want to upset Emma, or I might lose my meal ticket."
James Brown suddenly had a face full of black lines. This girl was just toying with him.
