Chapter 294: Chapter 301 Glutton

James Brown only picked up one plate, and he was holding it with his left hand, while with his other hand, he leisurely picked up a big conch and placed it onto the plate, which was already stacked with more than a dozen crabs and several conch shells, towering as high as a small forearm.

James had no intention of stopping. He piled about ten mantis shrimps on top of the conch shells and then finally stopped, turning his head to Emma Campbell and asking, "Is this enough for us to eat now?"

"Enough, enough," Emma Campbell nodded repeatedly, looking both excited and thrilled, but also a little embarrassed.

In places like upscale hotels, James’s behavior of guarding his food would be laughed at, but in a buffet, it wouldn’t be mocked; rather, it would be envied and admired as he took more in one go than others could in several, truly a buffet’s ultimate weapon.

"It won’t fall, right?" Everyone watched James stop, but their gaze never wavered. Although the food was stacked up, they didn’t believe that James could carry it safely to the dining area.

Sarah Johnson and Emily Clarke, along with Emma, all had this worry. In a buffet restaurant where dropping food carelessly on the ground incurs a fine, it’s meant to prevent people from being too greedy, taking so much that if dropped, it would be a huge waste.

The waiter followed as well, staring in disbelief at James taking so much food all at once. Having worked here as a waiter for so long, they had never seen anyone take so much at once.

Emma Campbell, Sarah Johnson, and Emily Clarke all knew the restaurant’s rules and despite the excitement of seeing James grabbing so much, they were particularly worried. Emma nervously stood to the left of James and meticulously said, "Big Brother Brown, it... won’t fall off, right?"

James turned his head toward Emma, making her heart nearly leap out, she hurriedly said, "Big Brother Brown, don’t look at me."

Emily Clarke and Sarah Johnson also quickly reached out to protect the plate in James’s hands, urgently saying, "Be very careful, if it falls to the ground, there will be a fine."

James then realized why they were all being so careful and said with a smile, "Don’t worry, if I can stack it up, it won’t fall off. You lead the way."

With the three girls tensely watching, James safely delivered a mountain-like pile of seafood to their table. The moment the plate touched the table, the seafood spread out, and a few mantis shrimps and conch shells directly fell into the pot.

Falling on the table wasn’t an issue, and the three girls immediately sighed in relief, while Sarah Johnson looked at the remaining crabs in the plate, saying, "How did you stack them up? These crab shells are so slippery and the crabs are alive too. Don’t they move?"

Emily Clarke grabbed a couple of conch shells and tried stacking them a few times, but they always fell, adding, "And these conch shells, their shapes are so irregular, even two can’t be stacked on one another, how did you stack them so high?"

Emma was also looking at James with curiosity, feeling quite proud though, as her roommates found it challenging, it highlighted James’s brilliance even more.

James picked up a few crabs and put them into the pot, smiling and saying, "Actually, it’s quite simple. Although these crabs are alive, if you stun them, they won’t move. And these conch shells, despite their irregular look, their shells are uneven, you just find the right angle and position and you can stack them."

"Really? It sounds pretty simple when you say it like that." Sarah Johnson tried a few times following James’s instructions but couldn’t succeed.

James laughed and said, "You all come closer, don’t let other people hear it, or the restaurant owner might not be happy with me."

The three leaned forward, and James picked up a few conch shells and whispered, "You see, stacking these two upward directly won’t work, but if you put a few more at the bottom, then you can place them on top. And inserting the pointed end into another conch shell makes it even more stable."

Now all three understood clearly and each tried it themselves. Though they couldn’t stack several layers as effortlessly as James, they were indeed able to stack a few more, which thrilled all three girls, who repeatedly praised James for his cleverness.

While this sounds simple, actually, it’s not that easy at all. James could do it because he had martial arts skills and extremely strong vision and judgment skills, which made it possible, and it’s not something one could achieve even with years of specific practice like James.

James made a demonstration, earning face for Emma Campbell, and instantly improved his relationship with Sarah Johnson and Emily Clarke.

She stuffed a piece of conch meat into her mouth and Sarah Johnson said vaguely, "James Brown, both Emily Clarke and I are older than Emma. Emma usually calls us big sis and second sis, wouldn’t you say... hehe, you should also call us something?"

Emma Campbell suddenly felt a bit awkward and looked towards James Brown. If they were to stick to formalities for addressing each other, since she’s younger, James Brown should be calling Sarah Johnson and Emily Clarke ’big sis’. In their dorm, Sarah and Emily often teasingly call him ’brother-in-law’, but since James Brown is older than them by age, calling them ’big sis’ to their faces might actually make him unhappy.

James Brown chuckled and replied, "From Emma’s perspective, I should indeed call you ’big sis’."

"Well, go on and call us that. We’ve been waiting to hear it," Sarah Johnson and Emily Clarke both looked at James Brown with giggling smiles.

James Brown scooped up two cooked bright red crabs and handed one to each, "Big sis, second sis, from now on you guys should look out for your brother-in-law here a bit more."

"Alright brother-in-law, we accept you," they responded.

"Mmm, not bad, we can rest assured and leave Emma in your hands," they added.

The two put on a very serious and earnest face, but before they could finish, they both burst out laughing.

Emma Campbell breathed a sigh of relief. She really was afraid her roommates might inadvertently upset James Brown, making it hard for her, but James Brown was very considerate of her. No matter how the two sisters teased him, James Brown didn’t get angry. This made her totally reassured and the atmosphere grew even warmer.

James Brown took plenty of seafood, and in one go, the four of them didn’t need to serve themselves a second time. After they finished eating the seafood, Emma Campbell stayed to watch the stuff while James Brown went with Emily Clarke and Sarah Johnson to get some lamb slices. This didn’t involve any special skill; they just filled a plate to the brim, grabbing three plates with about a pound of meat, which was about enough. Getting too much, they wouldn’t be able to finish it all.

Additionally, since the girls are all beautiful, eating too much meat can easily lead to weight gain, so naturally, they didn’t eat much meat. Hence, most of the meat ended up being eaten by James Brown.

"I’m going to burst; why aren’t you guys eating? Isn’t it a waste not to eat?" James Brown asked the three while laughing.

Sarah Johnson blinked and said, "We won’t lose out. In a bit we still have to eat fruit salad. Eating more fruit helps with beauty and maintaining skin hydration. We two aren’t as pretty as Emma nor is our skin as good, so we just have to hold back from eating meat."

Emma Campbell shyly responded, "That’s not true, you guys are very pretty too."

Emily Clarke laughed and said, "Stop flattering us. You are the belle of our department. What do we count as? Besides, if we were prettier than you, then wouldn’t brother-in-law be chasing after us instead? That won’t leave you feeling secure."

Through their interactions, James Brown also understood that these two girls had very straightforward personalities. He was even more unconcerned about their teasing and laughed, "Even if you guys were prettier than Emma, I couldn’t pursue you. That would mean letting Emma down."

"Oh... so cheesy," the two hugged each other, shuddering with ’goosebumps’ on their skin.

Girls in love always like to hear these kinds of cheesy words. Emma Campbell felt even sweeter hearing them and gave James Brown a glance, barely resisting the urge to gently grasp his hand under the table.

Sarah Johnson stood up and laughed, "Alright, alright, you two stop showing off your love here. Brother-in-law, perform your master skill again and help us get more fruit salad."

James Brown said smilingly, "No problem, as long as you can eat it, I’m fine making less."

Emily Clarke also joined in the fun, saying, "Alright, then we are depending on you for the portions for four people."

"Let’s go, let’s impress everyone." James Brown gestured and strode towards the serving area with Emily Clarke and Sarah Johnson, as spirited as soldiers setting off to battle. But the sight of such a spirited gesture for just fetching some fruit salad was rather comical.
