Chapter 229: Chapter 230 Initiative
A sound like that of a newborn kitten’s meow came from Gina Lopez’s mouth, so faint she could barely hear it herself. This left her somewhat speechless.
She thought back carefully to the day she heard Sunny Nguyen’s voice. It didn’t start off with a meow. Instead, she was humming. That seemed easier to learn. So, taking a deep breath, she finally let out a hum.
"That’s not so hard, is it?" Gina Lopez was quite pleased with the sound she made, and it was louder than before.
Still, the sound wasn’t loud enough to carry outside. She tried again, humming a little louder.
"Hey, are you feeling okay?" James Brown’s voice suddenly rang in her ear.
Gina was startled and stared at James dumbfounded. Wasn’t this guy asleep? How did he wake up?
"Hey, I’m talking to you. Are you feeling unwell? It’s not another fever like last time, is it?" James turned to face her and reached out to touch Gina’s forehead.
Gina slapped James’s hand away, her face flushed with both shame and embarrassment: "I’m fine."
"If you’re fine, then why are you humming? Are you in pain?" James frowned.
"I... I..." Gina immediately felt like a complete failure, realizing her humming sounded like it was done in pain, which meant she must have learned it wrong.
"Ahaha..." James suddenly wore a mischievous smile, saying, "I get it now. You wanted to learn that kind of sound to show your parents, huh?"
Gina’s embarrassment only deepened when James pointed it out. In a fit of flustered anger, she reached out, grabbed his arm, and bit him hard.
"Ouch!" James had not expected Gina to react so violently and he yelped in pain.
This cry was much louder, so clear that it could be heard outside, causing Gina’s parents and Emily Lopez to look at each other in confusion. What were this young couple up to? James’s voice didn’t sound quite right, either.
James quickly pulled his arm back, gasping for air, and glared at her, "Are you a dog or something, biting people like that?"
"It’s your fault for talking about me." After biting James, Gina felt like she’d let off some steam and looked at him with smug satisfaction.
"Hmph, I was going to teach you, but now I don’t care. You can hum however you want." James turned over, with his back to Gina, and ignored her.
Gina hummed defiantly, "I don’t need you to teach me. I’ve heard it before. How hard can it be?"
James didn’t answer her, which made Gina lose interest. The room fell silent again, and the quiet outside was equally eerie. Gina felt uneasy, guessing that her parents were still listening outside.
She was speechless. Her own parents were really something, eavesdropping on this kind of thing. Even if they wanted grandchildren, they didn’t have to go this far.
But if she didn’t satisfy them, she would be the one to suffer tomorrow, and they might even stay until they were content. To get them to leave sooner, Gina decided to give it her all. Besides, James was already awake, her face was already lost; there was nothing left to worry about.
Taking a deep breath, Gina tried to hum again, but the sound was still soft. She had to find that feeling first, only then could she get past it.
But after several attempts, Gina didn’t know if she was doing it right. However, she could feel James shaking violently behind her. There was no need to ask; he must be trying hard not to laugh. This made Gina’s mood plummet, and she reached out, grabbed James’s ear, and angrily said, "Turn your face to me."
James winced in pain and hurriedly turned around, grabbing Gina’s wrist. His face bore a mix of a thick smile and pain. It was an awkward and fascinating expression.
"You laugh, let me see you laugh. Are you happy because I’m struggling?" Gina glared at James fiercely, and although he held her wrist, her fingers were still twisting his ear.
"No laughter, no laughter, my dear, I’ve stopped. Let go, you’re going to twist my ear off."
Gina only let go of James’s ear once his smile had been completely replaced by a grimace of pain.
"Hey, this really won’t do; you’re not getting it right," James tried to say to Gina in a serious tone.
Gina’s demeanor fell, "What should I do? I don’t know how."
James chuckled, "Well, let me teach you."
"Fine, you teach." Gina looked at James, curious to see how he would imitate a sound that was typically made by a woman.
But then James shook his head, saying, "Oh, that’s not right. I really can’t mimic a woman’s voice, can I? I can only match what you do. This is going to be difficult."
Gina Lopez’s anticipation was dashed in an instant, casting her mood even gloomier. "Then what do you suggest we do?"
James Brown made a pained face and said, "I’ve run out of ideas."
"How can you have no ideas? You’ve done it so many times with Sunny Nguyen, how could you not know her reactions? I don’t care, you have to come up with a solution for me," she demanded.
James Brown’s eyes widened in surprise. "Are you being unreasonable with me?"
Gina’s face flushed red, but she promptly lifted her chin and retorted, "What about it? Can’t I? Don’t you know being unreasonable is a woman’s nature? Anyway, you have to help me out with this, otherwise I won’t let you sleep."
"Alright, alright, I’ll think. I never imagined that a big boss like you would stoop to acting like a little girl, sulking at me," James complained, his face full of frustration.
Gina smirked triumphantly but felt a twinge of anxiety inside. It was the first time, apart from with her father, that she had acted this way with another man. However, it didn’t feel too bad; in the past, whenever she encountered a problem, she would figure it out herself, but now she could just push it onto someone else and enjoy the benefits without effort.
"This won’t do... no, this isn’t right either... ah, I’ve got it—no, that won’t work; you wouldn’t agree to it."
At this point, Gina quickly chimed in, "What is it I won’t agree to? Just say it; if it works, then it’s good."
James gave a wry laugh. "I’d better not say it, you would scold me."
"You won’t scold you. I know you mean well for me. I definitely won’t be angry, just tell me," Gina insisted, not wanting to give up after seeing James ponder for so long before finally coming up with an idea that he then hesitated to share.
"Well... let’s get one thing straight first, you’re not allowed to lose your temper."
"I certainly won’t."
"You also can’t think I’m taking advantage of you."
Looking at James’s timid expression, Gina frowned, sensing that the method was definitely not in her favor, her expression darkened slightly. "Let’s hear it. Whether I agree or not is one thing, but at least I won’t scold you."
"Alright, I’ll say it then."
"Why are you so annoying? You’re a grown man, why do you hem and haw so much when you speak?" Gina was finally losing patience.
James then forced a laugh and said, "My method is... in order to produce that kind of sound, I’ve got to make you truly... feel that way."
"Truly feel that way? How is that even possible? What? Surely, you can’t be suggesting we do it for real?" Gina’s eyes widened, as if flames were about to shoot out of them.
James chuckled, "Of course not, even if you were up for it, I wouldn’t be."
Already fuming, Gina became even more enraged at his remark. It was such a blow to her ego. What did he mean he wouldn’t do it—even if she were to offer herself, he still wouldn’t. This was an extreme belittlement to her.
She gave James a fierce kick, but immediately felt pain in her toes. How could his body be so firm? Annoyed, she demanded, "What do you mean? What do you mean you won’t do it?"
James quickly made a firm statement, "That’s what I meant. Even if you were willing, I wouldn’t do it. I’m afraid if I did, you’d cling to me for life, and that would be worse than death for me."
"You... you..." Gina was so furious that her lips trembled. Suddenly, she stretched out her arms and embraced James. "Whether you want to or not, you’ll have to do it. I will make you."
"What? What?" James quickly propped his arms against Gina’s, his voice filled with panic, "Don’t be impulsive, stay calm, you must stay calm."
"I won’t stay calm! I’ll be impulsive! Today, you’ll do it whether you like it or not!" Gina gritted her teeth, seemingly ready to tear James apart.
"No, no, I have a girlfriend, how could I do such a thing? Gina, I was just joking. Please don’t take it seriously."
The more James declined, the more irritated Gina got. In her agitation, she became even less rational and suddenly flipped over, pressing James beneath her. With a leg twine, she ensnared his legs and said fiercely, "If you won’t do it, then I will."
At this point, James’s eyes widened in shock. He had only meant to tease Gina and see her embarrassed, but he never expected such an exaggerated reaction from her, let alone that she would turn the tables on him.
And in such a position, so close to each other, James could feel Gina’s chest pressed against his own, contorting under the pressure. Their bare skin touching, the friction of the delicate skin was almost too much to bear.
James really hadn’t considered doing anything intimate with Gina, but with Gina’s actions, the instinctive physical response of a man was uncontrollable.
Gina immediately felt something stiff and uncomfortable pressing against her abdomen. At her age, she very well knew what that was. It was the first time she experienced such contact, leaving her indescribably flustered. Normally, she would have quickly escaped, but fleeing would be too embarrassing, so she stayed lying stiffly on James, daring not to make any more movements or even meet his eyes. At that moment, she was truly caught between a rock and a hard place—getting off was not an option, yet staying on was even more untenable.
