Chapter 201 Officer Monaghan

Chapter 201: Chapter 201 Officer Monaghan

Helen Wilson really went all out this time, agreeing even to such a matter, but for a girl who has never had a boyfriend, she felt so embarrassed and shameful at the thought of James Brown bullying her that she wished she could just crawl into a crack in the ground.

James Brown agreed to do this for Helen Wilson partly because of her sense of justice, and also because he found the situation increasingly amusing, even more so than pretending to be Gina Lopez’s boyfriend. Seeing Helen Wilson agree, he immediately coughed lightly and said, "Officer Monaghan, there’s something else I need to remind you about."

"What is it?" Helen Wilson was already somewhat numb by now, knowing full well that whatever James Brown was about to remind her of would embarrass her, yet she still briskly asked.

"You haven’t had a boyfriend before, right?"

"No!"

"So, you definitely haven’t had any intimate contact with other men either?"

Helen Wilson replied irritably, "Of course not, I haven’t even had a boyfriend, how could I have been intimate with anyone?"

"That’s the point, you lack experience in this area. Surely we can’t just wing it when we meet your parents, right? Shouldn’t we... practice... practice beforehand?"

"What? We need to practice this as well?" Helen Wilson’s eyes widened with both anger and embarrassment.

"It’s just a reminder. I’ve agreed to help you, and naturally, I want to handle this matter as successfully as possible to avoid any slip-ups. I should be fine with improvising since I have a girlfriend and have been with quite a few women before. If you’re confident you can improvise well, then it’s not a problem."

Helen Wilson’s face twisted uncomfortably as James Brown’s words really hit a sore spot. Not having had a boyfriend was now something shameful for her, while James Brown, this bastard who had been with so many women, seemed to be proud of it.

Although she was angry, as a police officer, Helen Wilson still had good analytical skills. She felt that James Brown was indeed making a good point. With her personality, if she were dealing with criminals, she could quickly get into character. But if she were dealing with her parents, she would feel guilty and struggle even more with acting out the emotions of being in a relationship. She clenched her teeth and, with a sense of resignation, closed her eyes and said, "Okay! Bring it on."

But after waiting for a while, James Brown didn’t do anything to her. When Helen Wilson opened her eyes, she saw James Brown staring at her like an idiot, which made her somewhat annoyed and she snapped, "Are you stupid? Didn’t I tell you to come on?"

James Brown seemed startled and shook his head vigorously, before saying with a wry smile, "Officer Monaghan, what do you mean by ’come on’ just now?"

Helen Wilson was furious inside. This guy really didn’t understand her intentions and made her spell it out explicitly, "Isn’t it just a kiss? That’s what I’m asking you to do."

James Brown looked utterly perplexed and said, "I’m sorry, Officer Monaghan, but isn’t that a bit naive? Do you really think that intimacy between couples is only about kissing and going to bed?"

"What else is there?" Helen Wilson was somewhat puzzled at this time.

James Brown widened his eyes and said, "Officer Monaghan, it’s fine if you haven’t dated, but surely you must know how other people date?"

Helen Wilson blinked her large eyes, her long eyelashes fluttering, and her mouth twitched slightly as she said, "I see, we need to appear closer, like holding hands, or me hooking onto your arm, right?"

"You’re finally catching on. If you haven’t noticed these types of behaviors among young couples on the streets, then I really wouldn’t know what to say to you."

Helen Wilson felt a bit embarrassed but quickly said, "What’s the big deal with that? It’s just this kind of stuff, it’s not that hard, right?"

"Are you sure you can really do it?" James Brown’s face was full of disbelief.

Helen Wilson suddenly became anxious and said, "Then let’s try it out and see if I can."

"Alright, let’s give it a try, but just so we’re clear, I’m not doing this to take advantage of you," James Brown emphasized, remembering just how recently he had settled the issue of taking advantage of Helen Wilson, and he didn’t want to cause another incident.

"Relax, I know you’re not taking advantage of me. Come on, don’t be so coy like a woman," Helen Wilson said as she stood up.

James Brown also stood up and looked at Helen Wilson with a grin. Helen Wilson glared at him, then reached out and grabbed his hand, and also extended her arm and hooked his arm, saying, "See, this is easy, right?"

James Brown was both amused and exasperated, "Does your house have a mirror? Let’s go look at ourselves in it."

Helen Wilson frowned and asked, "Am I not doing it right?"

"Just look for yourself."

Reluctantly, Helen Wilson felt she was handling it correctly since she was holding James Brown’s hand and embracing his arm, which seemed just like a normal couple.

Upon reaching the mirror, Helen Wilson carefully examined their reflection, and then instantly spotted the problem. Her hand was holding James Brown’s but wasn’t interlaced with his fingers nor fully held in his palm. It looked more like a handshake between colleagues. Although her arm was linked with James Brown’s, the two arms merely held a pose without any real contact, displaying no intimacy at all.

"See what the problem is?" James Brown asked, barely holding back a laugh.

Helen Wilson gave James Brown a side-eye and said, "I see it now, I’ll make some adjustments, and this time it’ll definitely work."

"Yeah." James Brown wasn’t in a hurry, training an officer like Helen Wilson this way was not only enticing but also a lot of fun.

Helen Wilson took a deep breath, then joined hands with James Brown in front of the mirror, interlocking their fingers tightly without any refusal. Then she also hooked James Brown’s arm, their arms touching each other.

"How about that, I told you it was easy, right?" Helen Wilson boasted with a proud smile towards James Brown in the mirror.

James Brown, also looking into the mirror, scornfully curled his lip and said, "You’re still far off. If you say we have just started dating, this gesture might barely pass, but remember, we’re about to get married. This looks too unfamiliar."

"What? This isn’t good enough?" Helen Wilson’s eyes widened in disbelief.

James Brown nodded confidently and said, "Of course, the hands are fine, but the way you’re holding my arm isn’t right. Think about it, we’re about to get married, which means we’ve already slept together many times, right?"

Helen Wilson nodded.

"Since we’ve slept together so many times, we should be very familiar with each other’s bodies, right?"

First, Helen Wilson widened her eyes, then reluctantly nodded again.

"And if we are that familiar, like your... breasts, I must have touched them many times, right?"

The anger showed on Helen Wilson’s face, but she still nodded quickly.

"Since I’ve touched them so many times, yet you’re still hesitant to touch when you’re holding my arm, does that really seem like we’re about to get married?"

Helen Wilson opened her mouth, then clenched it shut again and took a deep breath. Her arms tightened, embracing James Brown’s arm fully this time, pressing his arm firmly against her chest with considerable force.

James Brown’s arm was closely pressed against Helen Wilson’s chest, feeling the surprising elasticity which made James’s mind sway. Although Helen Wilson’s Martial Arts Skills were not great, being a police officer meant she often worked out, hence her body was much more robust than Emma Campbell and others. Even Grace Lopez, who liked dancing, did not have the physical toughness or the resilience Helen Wilson’s body possessed.

Being so closely pressed against James Brown’s arm, Helen felt truly humiliated. Growing up, it wasn’t as if her chest had never touched someone else. After all, as a police officer, she had to partake in physical training with male officers, where accidental touches did happen, but those were without any emotional implications and did not make her uncomfortable.

But now it was different. Not only was she in close contact with James Brown, but she had also initiated it herself, which was overwhelming for Helen Wilson, who had never been in a relationship. Her face flushed red like the sunset on the horizon, and she could no longer meet James Brown’s gaze in the mirror.

Since she had agreed, James Brown was very invested and continued: "Your action is adequate now, but your expression has sold you out. Think about it, who would still look so embarrassed with this intimacy, if they were about to get married?"

Helen Wilson turned her head and glared at James Brown in the mirror, unhappily responding, "I’m not as thick-skinned as you are."

"If you want your parents to approve, you need to be thick-skinned now, otherwise, you’re sure to slip up."

Hearing about slipping up, Helen Wilson became determined and asked, "So what should I do then?"

"It’s simple, you need to feel sweetness during physical contact like this, feeling it genuinely from inside your heart, and absolutely without any resistance."

"This... seems a bit difficult."

"I know it’s difficult. Frankly, I find it tough too, otherwise, I would’ve run away long ago."

"Humph, don’t play the martyr, you’re a man, you can’t possibly lose. I’m a woman, alright?"

"Well, just consider your options then. I can only do my best, but if you slip up, don’t blame me."

"Fine fine, it’s just being sweet, what’s the big deal." Helen Wilson humphed, took a couple of deep breaths, smiled in the mirror, but without James even saying, she knew it wasn’t convincing—the smile was too forced.

"It’s not just about the surface; it’s about the inner feelings. You need to truly feel happy. Once I can find that feeling, even a small gesture can show our sweet love."

Helen Wilson acknowledged James Brown’s point, but how could she find that feeling when she didn’t really like James Brown? If the Mysterious Figure were here, she might genuinely be able to find that emotion.
