Chapter 123: Chapter 123: The Profligate Young Master

Grace Lopez also noticed the cars outside at this moment and stuck her tongue out, saying, "Brother-in-law, look, there’s a Ferrari and Porsche, so beautiful."

James Brown laughed and said, "You like luxury cars too?"

"Of course I do, but I just don’t have the money. Why don’t you talk to my sister later and get her to buy me one?"

James Brown couldn’t help but smile and said, "Do you think your sister can afford to buy you one?"

"It seems like she can’t. She makes a decent amount each year, but after all, she is just an employee. She definitely doesn’t have the capability to buy such a luxury car. It looks like I can only wait until I snag a rich husband to buy one for me."

"Ha... That’s a good strategy. Then you can just kick him to the curb afterward, and you’ll have gotten a car for nothing."

"Right, right. Brother-in-law, your idea is even better." Grace Lopez also laughed happily.

Their voices were not loud, but the new group of four who had entered spoke quite loudly, one of them frowning and saying, "The environment here really fucking sucks."

Another man said, "Mr. Quinn, this place isn’t like those fancy hotels, but the main thing is its uniqueness, an authentic flavor." His words clearly carried a hint of flattery.

Mr. Quinn’s gaze swept around the restaurant and landed on James Brown and Grace Lopez. Grace’s charming smile immediately drew his attention.

Thomas Johnson a.k.a. Mr. Quinn was the son of the boss of JH Real Estate Company. Although JH Real Estate Company was not the biggest real estate firm in YODC City, it was still quite large. The real estate market had been hot in recent years, and the company had made quite a lot of money, accumulating assets worth a couple of hundred million.

Thomas Johnson was an ignorant and incompetent individual, and with his family’s wealth, he was the typical playboy. He spent his days indulging in luxury and women. Although he hadn’t done any massive wrongdoings, he certainly hadn’t refrained from smaller evils.

With his wealth, he naturally associated with pretty women, but today, to see someone as beautiful as Grace Lopez in such a small restaurant, he felt quite stirred. He whistled and then signaled the other three men with a look. They all immediately showed smug grins and then walked straight toward James Brown’s table.

James Brown had already noticed Mr. Quinn’s attention on Grace Lopez, which told him that this guy might be looking for trouble. And now that he had approached, James knew that trouble was inevitable.

Having had his fair share of encounters with such spoiled young masters in the capital of SSUP, where each one had much more influence than Mr. Quinn, James Brown knew that dealing with this type of person could be both annoying and complicated.

If he were still a member of Hawk Squad, James would have simply chased these men away or given them a beating, and there would have been no issue. But now, as a civilian, dealing with them would be more restrictive, and he was thinking about how to handle them without causing any trouble.

By this time, the four men had already stood beside the table where James and Grace were sitting. Mr. Quinn ignored James entirely and said to Grace, "Beautiful, would you like to go out and have some fun?"

Grace Lopez had also noticed the men and immediately frowned, her face turning cold as she retorted, "Not interested."

At that moment, James Brown was taken aback by Grace’s reaction, which reminded him of her twin sister, Gina Lopez. He realized that, in fact, Gina and Grace shared the same genetic temperament, although Gina displayed more grandeur and aloofness, while Grace exhibited more whimsy and liveliness.

Yet, in both of them, there was a bit of each other, and when put in certain situations, it became apparent that they were indeed an incredibly similar pair of twins.

Thomas Johnson laughed heartily and slapped a stack of cash onto the table, saying, "I’m afraid if you accompany some brothers out for a day, all this money could be yours."

There was over ten thousand dollars there, a sum that was certainly shocking to the average person. Encountering girls in such modest restaurants, they naturally assumed that this amount of money would be enticing enough.

Grace’s face grew even colder as she said, "Get lost, I don’t have time for you."

Thomas Johnson’s face darkened as he said, "You have quite the personality, beautiful. I like that even more. I’ll give you one hundred thousand. I, Mr. Quinn, always keep my word. If you agree, I’ll transfer ten thousand dollars to you right now and you can also keep this cash."

"Get out!" Grace Lopez seized a cup filled with a drink and flung it, splashing half a glass of juice towards Mr. Quinn.

Thomas Johnson had not anticipated Grace to be so bold, and he couldn’t avoid the splash in time, soaking a large portion of his clothes, and even his two companions didn’t escape.

"Fuck, you bitch!" Thomas Johnson immediately let loose a barrage of curses and lunged to slap Grace Lopez across the face.

Grace, however, was not afraid at all. She quickly kicked Thomas in the stomach, sending him staggering back two steps, his slap naturally veering off course.

James Brown was about to intervene, but then he didn’t expect Grace to be able to fight. This truly surprised him, so he decided not to rush in and instead see how Grace would handle things next.

Grace didn’t disappoint James. She slammed her hand down on the table, stood up, and coldly shouted at the four men, "Don’t think you’re something special just because you’re men. Let me tell you, this lady is a fifth-degree black belt in Taekwondo. Beating the likes of you four punks is more than enough."

Grace’s aura was powerful, enough to truly intimidate the four men. However, as four men, they couldn’t allow themselves to be cowed by a girl, as that would be a loss of face.

"Guys, guys, no fighting, please!" The store owner, a man in his forties, rushed over to break up the fight when he saw trouble brewing.

"Get lost!" Thomas snapped furiously, slapping the owner across the face, and commanded, "Stay out of it if you don’t want to die." He then wiped the juice off his face, smiling sinisterly, and said, "Little lady, the tougher you are, the more I like it. I love taming wild horses like you. Boys, let’s do this."

Grace saw she hadn’t scared off the four men and started to panic a bit. Although she had practiced Taekwondo and could probably win against a single man, against four, she was no match.

Seeing Grace’s panicked look, James Brown knew she had been bluffing. Although he found it somewhat funny, his impression of Grace improved greatly. In the eyes of the Hawk Squad, a calm head when facing problems was often more effective than personal strength. Grace, at least in this regard, met the Hawk Squad’s recruitment standards.

But James couldn’t stand by idly any longer. Standing up, he said, "Grace, let your brother-in-law handle this."

Then, without waiting for Grace to react, he kicked the most aggressive guy flying with one kick.

Following that, he lowered his stance and punched another guy, making him stagger back several steps, hunched over and unable to straighten up. He then shouldered the guy on the right, sending him flying like he was hit by a speeding truck, almost toppling over the tables behind.

Thomas hadn’t even recovered his senses, charging with full force, when James swept his legs out from under him, causing him to fly sideways through the air before crashing down flat on the ground with a thud.

The other two tables of customers in this small shop were stunned. Four grown men were taken down by James in less than ten seconds; it was more martial arts-like than an actual martial arts novel.

Even Grace was left gaping in awe. Although she knew James had retired from the military, she had never imagined his fighting prowess would be this formidable.

"Brother-in-law! You’re so cool!" Grace yelled excitedly, rushing over and jumping to wrap her arms around James’s neck, planting a kiss on his cheek with a smack.

James was frozen on the spot, never expecting Grace to get this carried away, even delivering a kiss.

Of course, he knew that Grace’s kiss wasn’t about affection but merely an expression of her excitement. This kind of reaction was quite normal, like how some sports fans, when their team wins, might hug and kiss the person next to them, regardless of whether they are familiar or strangers, male or female.

Patting Grace on the back, James laughed and said, "Okay, come down now."

Grace let go and wasn’t the slightest bit embarrassed. Instead, she stared at James, sizing him up thoroughly, as she discovered more and more how capable her brother-in-law was. When she first met James, she didn’t think much of him. But after repeatedly witnessing his abilities, her regard for him grew exponentially.

This brother-in-law could mix drinks, cook, and was such a formidable fighter. She wondered what other talents James might have up his sleeve.

At that moment, Thomas and his friends struggled to get up. Thomas Quinn, gritting his teeth and grimacing, pointed at James and swore, "Fuck, how dare you hit me. You’re dead meat. I’ll make sure to get you!"

Grace quickly took over, shouting coldly, "Want more? Really are trash. Acting all high and mighty just because you have some rotten money."

James followed up with a stern shout, "Seems your bones are indeed quite tough, so let me help you loosen them up!"

James’s menacing look was frightening, and the punks immediately took two steps back. Although Thomas, the spoiled young master, was somewhat afraid of James, he knew he had more to rely on. He warned James, "Kid, you just wait. I’ll make you see what happens after you mess with me." However, in his mind, he was thinking about how to get someone to deal with James and then take Grace, the beauty, to bed and ruthlessly torment her.
