The Supreme Soldier in the City
Chapter 115: The Host’s Glory

Chapter 115: Chapter 115: The Host’s Glory

Mary Smith hadn’t mentioned yet that the hosts were Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, but one of the female classmates couldn’t contain her excitement and spilled the beans.

This news absolutely exploded like a bomb, but everyone still had their doubts about its authenticity, especially James Smith, who said in disbelief, "That’s impossible, how could they possibly host John Stephens’ wedding? I’m not looking down on John Stephens, but it’s just a fact."

The girl immediately pointed at James, saying, "He’s the one who invited them, you can ask him if you don’t believe it."

That’s when everyone remembered that James was indeed the one who had found the two hosts, and the look they gave him was filled with amazement.

James, somewhat helplessly, could only smile and say, "Yes, I did get Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, but I don’t have that much pull. It was our company’s boss who helped me find them."

This statement made most of the people believe him, figuring that as a driver like James, how could he possibly manage to invite Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, but if it was his boss, then perhaps it really was possible.

"Hey James, you’ve got quite the influence, huh? Your boss actually went to such lengths for you?" Emily chuckled as she patted James on the shoulder.

Mary tilted her head looking at James, smiling as she said, "James, how come you have such great influence? Which company do you work for? It must be quite powerful."

It did feel quite spectacular to be the center of everyone’s attention, and though James wasn’t vain like a child, as a classmate, he felt good about being able to help, and he smiled, "JYPP Region Company, just a small company."

William, still unwilling to concede, said, "James, this sounds a bit unreliable. We’re talking about Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog here, even with money, they’re not just easily hired. Plus, I know about your company, I doubt even your boss has that much pull."

James shrugged and said, "I’m not sure about that, all I know is I don’t have that kind of pull. I just asked our boss, who knows if she got someone else involved."

The doubt was similarly shared among everyone, thinking, considering that a driver, despite being close to the boss, wouldn’t normally have such influence, and the idea of the company’s boss going out of her way to please James by inviting such famous hosts seemed even more unbelievable. If it had been James’s own wedding, it might have been more understandable, but for him to do this for someone else just didn’t make sense.

Most people didn’t know much about JYPP Region Company, but James Smith had heard a bit and said to James, "JYPP Region isn’t that big of a company, its assets probably aren’t even over a hundred million. Is your boss a beauty?"

James nodded, and said, "Yes, she is indeed a beauty."

Everyone suddenly gave James a very suggestive look; Mary bumped him with her shoulder and teased, "You didn’t happen to win over your beautiful boss, did you? Otherwise, why would she help you out so much?"

"I’m dizzy, do you guys think that’s possible?" James rolled his eyes.

A beautiful boss, a driver who specifically drives for the boss, and this boss giving such huge face to the driver, even going to great lengths to invite two popular hosts, was definitely something worth gossiping about. Everyone teased James endlessly.

James, dealing with his classmates, was somewhat at a loss for how to react. If Gina Lopez had been there, who knows what kind of reaction she would have had.

With James having found the two beautiful hosts, Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, his status among classmates had suddenly skyrocketed. Everyone was saying that when they got married, they also wanted James to invite these two beautiful hosts, which really gave James a headache. It was awkward not to agree, and since he could help John Stephens, it seemed he should be able to help others too. But if he did, then he would owe Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog a lot of favors, which could become troublesome to repay later.

Luckily, Mary helped smooth things over by saying that getting people wasn’t that easy, and one had to consider whether they were available among other reasons. Everyone seemed to understand that and they let James off the hook.

Finally, the official wedding ceremony began, and as Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog appeared on stage, the whole hall boiled with excitement. Except for James and these classmates, no one knew that the hosts were such famous figures from YODC City.

"Oh my God, it’s actually Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, they’re actually hosting the wedding!"

"Jessica Thompson is so lucky, her husband is so thoughtful and impressive!"

Mostly women made such exclamations, while some men were contemplating how much it must have cost to hire such hosts.

For women, a wedding is one of the most important events of their lives, and having two renowned hosts truly adds scores of glamour to the occasion. Later, when they talk about it with sisters and best friends, it’s undoubtedly a matter of great pride. Jessica Thompson felt the envious glances from the young girls of her family and her best friends, which made her happier than honey.

Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, both renowned hosts, raised the climax of the wedding ceremony to another level, stretching a half-hour event to almost an hour.

Despite the extended time impacting the start of the banquet, nobody complained. In fact, all wished it could have gone on longer as it was so spectacular.

The ceremony finally concluded, and Michael Terry and his wife changed clothes before joining their classmates. Michael landed a heavy punch on John Wilson’s shoulder and said, "You really came through, finding me these two hosts."

John Wilson immediately pointed at James, saying, "It wasn’t me; James found them for you."

Surprised, Michael looked at James, took a moment to recover, and after a nudge from his wife, he heartily clapped James on the shoulder, thanking him, "James, you really are a true friend."

James laughed, "We’re old classmates, no need to be so formal."

Michael gave James a big hug, as no amount of thank-you words could express his gratitude; he felt a hug was the best way to convey it.

At that moment, everyone was offering their blessings, especially praising Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog for giving the couple so much honor. This brought a radiant smile to Jessica Thompson’s face, similar to a blossoming flower, and seeing his wife so happy, Michael laughed heartily as well.

After some chit-chat, Michael pulled James aside, looking concerned and whispered, "James, I never expected such big-name hosts from you. How much should I give them in red envelopes?"

James truly didn’t know, hesitating he said, "I’m not sure, let me go ask."

Michael grimaced, half-smiling, "Man, you’re something else, not even asking the price. These two are expensive. This is going to cost me a lot, but it’s worth it. Go on and ask."

James nodded and went straight to the room prepared for Alice Brown and Jennifer Hog, knocked on the door, and Jennifer’s voice asked, "Who is it?"

"It’s James."

The sound of footsteps approached quickly, and Jennifer slightly opened the door. Seeing only James, she pulled him in and quickly closed the door behind him.

James felt like he was having an affair, but entering the room, he understood why. The two were changing, not completely naked, but exposed enough—shoulders and calves showing, along with a bit of their stomachs. The glimpse of skin was incredibly tempting, making James awkwardly suggest, "Maybe I should step out."

"No need, we’re almost done," Alice chuckled lightly, not bothering to cover up more, but casually draping an arm over James’s shoulder.

James turned to look at Alice, sweeping his gaze over her, he said, "I’m not peeking. If I were to look, I’d do it openly. Isn’t that better?"

"You’re pretty naughty, Mr. Smith," Alice lightly hit him, her eyes twinkling with seduction, not expecting James to react this way. She thought he would either be very lecherous or shy, but he remained calm, his eyes appreciatively bold yet clear.

James was no saint and would have taken advantage more blatantly in the past, but he chose not to with them, though he couldn’t resist a little ’eye candy.’ He chuckled, "Alright, I’m just stirring things up. Our host asked me to find out your fees, he wants to give you red envelopes."

Jennifer approached James, swaying, "Mr. Smith, aren’t you slandering us? We wouldn’t take red envelopes for doing you a small favor."

Alice also pouted, "Exactly, Mr. Smith, you’re really looking down on us."

James laughed heartily, "Okay then, I’ll just tell them I owe you one."

Their eyes lit up at that offer. A favor from such a well-connected person like James was far more valuable than thousands of dollars. In unison, using tempting voices, they said, "Mr. Smith, you can’t take that back now."

"I won’t, and since that’s settled, I’ll be off. They’re quite anxious out there." Not giving them a chance to detain him further, James quickly left the room.
