Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Deliberately Blown Out of Proportion
"8 billion?"
The enormity of the figure made Mo Shu’s eyelid twitch.
What on earth had the original-owner done to squander such a massive sum of money?
Meng Yunjing was also startled, "8 billion? Could there be some mistake?"
Mo Jiantao wore a ’you really don’t get out much’ expression, "Always living in a castle, the Princess, flattered by a few compliments, really starts to think she’s somebody. To prove herself, she had to throw money around at every auction, to ostentatiously show she was different from others. Those 8 billion, are just the consequences of three auctions, buying three unfinished buildings and two plots of mountain land. Purchasing the land didn’t cost much, but development and restructuring swallowed up several billion, and to this day, it’s been impossible to deal with, just rotting in her hands. Now, tell me, if this kind of idiot were to stay in the company, wouldn’t that just be inviting gossip?"
Mo Jiantao shook his head and clucked his tongue, "Now the whole company is gossiping, saying that royalty and nobility sure are amazing, casually blowing billions as if it’s pocket change. At this rate, even if the Mo Family is strong, it won’t be enough to cover her losses, right?"
Mo Shu had already picked up his wine glass and sipped lightly on the red wine, "It seems President Mo’s opinion of me is extraordinarily high."
Mo Jiantao scoffed coldly, "It’s not just me. Now, the entire board is dissatisfied with you. Only because it’s the Mo Family. If it were any other consortium, they would have gone under long ago with the way you’re squandering."
"Enough, let’s eat!" Mr. Mo barked coldly, "Every day I don’t see you doing anything worthwhile, but stirring up trouble seems to be your forte!"
Mo Jiantao pressed his lips together, not talking back, but the look he gave Mo Shu was one of obvious schadenfreude.
As expected, the next day when Mo Shu arrived at the company, she could feel the collective disapproval from the company employees.
"Good morning, Young President Mo."
"Hello, Young President Mo."
"Young President Mo."
...
Surrounded by a chorus of greetings, Mo Shu walked up to the elevator reserved for senior management. Through the glass ahead, she could see their strange looks.
Ji Nan, with her sharp ears, heard these murmurs and turned around, only to see everyone swiftly feigning indifference and busying themselves with their tasks.
The board meeting was at ten, and as soon as Mo Shu got to her office, she saw a joint letter on the desk.
Opening the letter, Mo Shu saw the text, clear and distinct, itemizing a list of her offenses!
Mo Shu sat down with interest and began to read with relish.
Ji Nan’s gaze moved to the cluster of signatures at the bottom, feeling somewhat angry, she said, "These board members are really annoying. The chairman hasn’t said anything yet; why are they doing this?"
Mo Shu laughed dismissively, "They’re board members; they have the right to unite in getting rid of me."
Ji Nan still felt indignant, "But that’s too much. You’ve only started interning at the company for such a short time!"
"I haven’t been interning for long, but I’ve been flaunting Grandpa’s name for more than a day or two," Mo Shu said, pointing to the accusations on the paper, "See, these things were all done under Grandpa’s name. These directors have always known, but they didn’t want to make a fuss with me as long as things didn’t blow up."
"Why are they starting to make a fuss now?"
Mo Shu laughed softly, a hint of darkness flashing in her eyes, "Because someone deliberately made a big deal out of it."
The board meeting started on time at ten.
As soon as Mo Shu walked in, she felt the daggers being stared at her from within.
"Yo, here comes our Princess. I was beginning to think you didn’t have the guts to show up."
