Chapter 70: Chapter 70: His Precious Granddaughter Has Finally Made Something of Herself [Extra for ’Jenny Feng’]
Mo Shu’s gaze upon him deepened, "Isn’t this a bit too cruel?"
Uncle Dong felt Mo Shu was becoming increasingly unfamiliar, especially the way she looked at him, which clearly lacked the dependence she had in the beginning. This caused Uncle Dong to feel a great sense of loss, and at the same time, sadness filled his heart.
Facing Mo Shu’s gaze, Uncle Dong spoke with a firm voice, "Princess, anyone who dares betray you should bear such a consequence!"
Upon hearing this, Mo Shu let out a slight laugh and then handed the rose she held over, "Then, I’ll leave this matter to you."
Uncle Dong’s heart leapt with joy as he quickly accepted the flower, "Rest assured, I will not disappoint your expectations and will surely catch the perpetrator!"
"Leaving it to you, I am very at ease," Mo Shu’s lips curved with a meaningful expression, "After all, you are the person I trust the most."
Uncle Dong smiled, nodding vigorously, then as if something occurred to him, he said, "In three months, it will be the Old Man’s birthday banquet. Our birthday gift..."
Unexpectedly, Mo Shu felt a bit sad upon hearing this and even reined in her smile. She averted her gaze and spoke in a subdued tone, "You should go ahead. Tomorrow afternoon a guest will come."
"Yes."
...
The next afternoon.
At Mo Shu’s invitation, all who had some interest in the matter arrived.
There were quite a few attendees, numbering in the dozens.
Naturally, people of different status and positions received different levels of hospitality.
Yu Siqiao and others, as honored guests of the Mo Family, even had a designated lounge.
At two o’clock, Mo Shu appeared on time, assisting Mr. Mo in front of everyone.
All eyes converged on Mr. Mo, who seemed very pleased and said, "What are you up to today? You’ve brought over so many friends."
Moreover, most of these friends were young people with promising futures, all of whom he recognized.
For instance, Yu Jing, Yu Siqiao, Meng Yunjing, and several others whom he had seen a few times but couldn’t recall the names, all came.
He had often told Mo Shu to mingle with these people, but Mo Shu’s personality was quite frustrating.
These individuals, each extraordinary in their own right, were rather arrogant, and didn’t think much of Mo Shu, so after a few interactions, their relationships weren’t too good.
Now, seeing Mo Shu gather them all with her influence, Mr. Mo was both surprised and delighted.
His precious granddaughter had finally made something of herself!
Mo Shu was aware of Grandpa’s expectations but at times like this, she had no choice but to shatter Mr. Mo’s pipe dream, laughing, "They’re not friends."
Mr. Mo expressed some disappointment, "Then what are they here for?"
"They’re here to witness me proving my innocence."
Mo Shu carefully recounted the whole story of the incident, sparing no detail.
Mr. Mo listened with a dark expression, "So what about the investigation results? Was the person found?"
Mo Shu gave a faint smile, "Yes, they were found."
"Who is it?"
Mo Shu cast her gaze over the crowd and said, "You’ll know shortly."
"Elder Mo, Princess," Uncle Dong stepped forward, followed by several visibly uneasy maids, "I’ve caught the thief within our household."
Mr. Mo’s aged face turned grim as he roared, "Who is so bold, to steal things even from the Mo Family!"
Uncle Dong, with a stern look on his face, spoke in a serious tone, "It’s the Princess’s bodyguard, Ji Nan."
Mo Shu scoffed lightly, "Are you sure?"
Uncle Dong, for some reason, felt a sudden unease when he saw the expression on Mo Shu’s face, but still steadied himself and said, "It’s her. Committing theft under her charge, these maids can testify!"
