The Superstar's Contracted Wife Has A System -
Chapter 60: Choice
Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Choice
It’s better to drain the problem than to block it—whether it’s the Wang Family or the Qin family who are behind this, since the news has been uncovered, there is no need to cover it up anymore. Otherwise, it will definitely become a handle for the other party to threaten Qin Jiran or even her. Therefore, the best strategy is to report it first; by doing so, we can take the initiative in guiding public opinion and ensure that both Qin Jiran and the Su family occupy a more advantageous position.
After hanging up the phone, Su Yanyi couldn’t sleep anymore. She got ready and walked out of the bedroom, directly pushing open the door to Qin Jiran’s room, only to find that the bed was empty. Checking the time, it was just after five o’clock in the morning. Could this man possibly have gotten up so early?
Su Yanyi went downstairs to look for Qin Jiran, but no one was in the kitchen or the living room. Suddenly, she thought of the Positioning Function of the System. A few seconds later, the System responded that Mr. Qin was practicing in the yard.
When Su Yanyi found Qin Jiran, he was practicing boxing. It was hard to tell what style of boxing he was performing, but it was strong and vigorous, obviously not just for show. Su Yanyi’s eyes shone with excitement, feeling an itch to try it herself. From a young age, she had been learning various combat and survival skills. Her physical abilities were exceptional, although there were few occasions to use them. Now, seeing the man’s fierce form, she couldn’t help but want to move around as well.
Acting on her impulse, Su Yanyi didn’t give Qin Jiran any time to prepare. She dashed forward, her delicate fist carrying full force as she attacked Qin Jiran.
It was already a bit too late by the time Qin Jiran heard the sound. He dodged somewhat, but the fist still grazed his shoulder. The significant force made his body sway, but he quickly recovered, hastily retreating to avoid Su Yanyi’s following attacks, and just evading without countering.
"Fight back, or else I’ll beat you up," Su Yanyi shouted, both displeased and somewhat aggressive. Her movements quickened, proving that her words were no idle threat.
Qin Jiran could only bitterly smile, having never expected Su Yanyi to have this side to her. He braced himself and began to seriously engage, not minding if Su Yanyi really did beat him up. But it was clear that her current interest wasn’t as simple as just beating him up.
Qin Jiran’s movements were powerful, straightforward, and bold. In contrast, Su Yanyi’s moves were sharp, fast, and ruthlessly cunning. From their actions, it was evident that both of them had been trained for a long time, but their focuses were different. Qin Jiran’s style was more open and honorable, while Su Yanyi’s moves seemed overly lethal, causing Qin Jiran, who was reluctant to hit back, to struggle greatly in response. In just a few minutes, he had already taken several hits.
The fighting techniques Su Yanyi learned were all very practical; she even trained with some very well-known assassins, thanks to the resources available to the Su family. In comparison, Qin Jiran seemed at a disadvantage, especially because he excelled in strength, which he couldn’t use against Su Yanyi, naturally putting him on the back foot.
After hitting Qin Jiran several times, Su Yanyi’s fingers started to ache faintly. It had been a long time since she last trained in combat, and vigorous movements made it easier for her to injure herself, so she also lowered the intensity.
Qin Jiran immediately noticed the change in Su Yanyi. Seeing the faint sweat on her cool and calm face, he felt pity and changed his tactic, taking a punch from Su Yanyi with his body and managing to subdue her in the process.
"Yanyi, let’s take a break. It’s time for breakfast," Qin Jiran said smartly, avoiding mentioning that Yanyi might be tired and need a rest, as that would assuredly earn him a few more punches from the proud woman he knew she was.
That’s when Su Yanyi finally stopped, but she suddenly remembered the reason she had been looking for Qin Jiran in the first place. Her expression turned cold as she said, "I need to talk to you about something."
"What is it?" Qin Jiran asked, somewhat puzzled. Looking at Su Yanyi’s expression, he had an uneasy premonition.
"Do you know the Qin family? The one that is named alongside our Su family, the Wang Family, and the Bai Family as the Four Great Families of A City." To be named among the Four Great Families of A City isn’t trivial; these four surnames could be said to rule A City, and there’s no one who wouldn’t recognize them.
Qin Jiran’s expression changed instantly, and he silently stared at Su Yanyi. She didn’t rush him, just looked at him intently. But Jiran’s reaction clearly indicated he knew something.
"You know, I almost forgot about it myself. So, you found out, did you?" The Qin family—how could Qin Jiran not know? It was just something he had selectively forgotten, as he genuinely wanted no connection with that family. But with Yanyi bringing it up, pretending ignorance was no longer an option.
"So you knew too. I just don’t know if the Qin family is aware." Hearing Qin Jiran’s admission, Su Yanyi wasn’t surprised. After all, Qin Jiran still bore the Qin surname.
"They know. It was a member of the Qin family who sent me to the orphanage. I’m sorry, Yanyi, I didn’t tell you about this. I just felt there was no need. I truly do not want to have any relationship with the Qin family." Qin Jiran explained, his expression worried. He didn’t know why Yanyi had suddenly brought up the Qin family or how she found out about his connection with them, and evidently, it was something he had concealed. He was unsure if Yanyi would be angry.
Su Yanyi gave Qin Jiran a glance. She didn’t say much about his apology; their relationship had never required divulging this information because it wasn’t important to her. Although their relationship had improved, it still didn’t seem necessary to bring it up deliberately, so she could understand Qin Jiran’s reasoning. However, now that the issue had arisen, it needed to be resolved quickly.
"I don’t know if it’s the Qin family or the Wang Family trying to expose your relationship with the Qin family. Today’s headline—what I mean is that blocking is not as good as draining. The truth won’t remain hidden, but if you wish to keep it concealed, I will do my best to help," Su Yanyi said, making her stance and intentions clear, and then waited for Qin Jiran’s decision.
Qin Jiran’s expression was icy, and a sense of authority emanated from him.
"The Qin family wouldn’t. Qin Zhenyi is a man who values reputation above all; his biggest wish is that I do not exist. Why would he openly acknowledge this? It must be the Wang family’s doing. But what good does it do them?" Qin Jiran understood his identity well. To a traditionalist like Qin Zhenyi, his illegitimate son was a stain on his record and would never be willingly recognized.
"The Qin family isn’t just Qin Zhenyi alone; otherwise, why would the Wang family even know about this? But what’s most important now is your opinion. Do we do everything we can to prevent the news from breaking, or do we make use of our own channels to release it first? You should understand the pros and cons," Su Yanyi explained, her tone highly rational, helping calm Qin Jiran down gradually.
