Chapter 566: Chapter 566 Sharp Commentary (4)
"A mere two or three percent? Perhaps," Su Yanyi did not tell Qin Jiran that Uncle Yu had said Tang Ya had idolized her since she was young. That was the reason she majored in dance in college and now was participating in such a talent show, all to get closer to her. However, Uncle Yu had told her to keep it a secret, so she pretended not to know, to save Tang Ya the embarrassment.
The fourth phase, second round of "I’m the Best" had finished recording. Out of the twenty-six contestants, only eighteen remained. Their competition would now turn into a series of one-on-one elimination matches, with the final nine winners moving forward. The eliminated nine contestants would have a chance at revival, voted on by the judges. The contestant with the most votes would be revived. If the eight judges chose different contestants to revive, the audience would vote from amongst those eight. The contestant with the most audience votes would be revived, joining the top ten and participating in the next ranking match along with the other nine contestants.
Right before the formal recording started, Du Wen and Qin Jiran chatted backstage.
"I’ve spoken with each of the four individually; they’re all quite impressive and interested. Tang Ya and Leng Yue have agreed to sign, Li Tianchao is still considering, and Wu Xing has proposed a condition. As long as we agree, he’s willing to sign with us," Du Wen summed up his interactions and outcomes with the four. He was quite optimistic about them and had offered generous contract terms. Yet, the results were somewhat unexpected—the presumed toughest nut to crack, Tang Ya, had agreed immediately upon his proposition, while the others had small issues.
"What condition?" When planning the contracts with these four, Qin Jiran had already stated that as long as the conditions weren’t too excessive, they should be agreed to. Splendid Entertainment was always very generous in its signings and never mistreated its artists.
"He hopes the company can help his mother receive treatment abroad and cover all the medical expenses, which would be deducted from his future earnings. Just agree to this condition, and he’ll sign immediately." When Du Wen heard this request, he wanted to agree without hesitation. However, it was clearly beyond his authority, as the cost of treatment abroad was expected to be in the seven figures. Wu Xing’s mother’s illness was very serious, a decision he couldn’t make on his own. But he felt this wouldn’t be an issue—the company would surely agree.
"Then agree to it. What about Li Tianchao?" As expected, Qin Jiran agreed without hesitation, then inquired about Li Tianchao. Of the four, Li Tianchao came from the wealthiest family background—not that it could be compared to Tang Ya’s status—and he had never intended to enter the entertainment industry. He was also quite proud, making him a rather distinct character.
The four of them had different personalities: Tang Ya was cold, independent, and went her own way; Wu Xing was cheerful and easy-going; Li Tianchao was proud and intelligent; while Leng Yue was more mature and stable. Each had their own talents and unique attributes.
"Actually, he had two conditions, and they’re... kind of problematic," Du Wen glanced at Qin Jiran, hesitating as he spoke. Clearly, these conditions were somewhat unusual.
"Go on."
"His first condition is that he wants a certain degree of autonomy, to be able to refuse arrangements he finds unsuitable." This condition covered a wide scope and was hard to measure. The company ordinarily wouldn’t detail it too clearly in the contract, especially for a talent show participant who couldn’t even be considered a novice artist yet.
"Continue." Qin Jiran wasn’t surprised by this condition, as it matched Li Tianchao’s personality. He understood it well.
