Su Yanyi looked down at her figure, which indeed seemed to have rounded out quite a bit. Glancing at her belly that had yet to show any change, she imagined herself waddling like a ball, and couldn’t help but frown deeply. While she wasn’t exactly vain, she truly didn’t like the puffy look on herself.

Su Yanyi had always been an extremely self-confident person, to the point of being self-absorbed. In fact, her aloofness was partly a form of selfishness. Aside from the Su family, she hardly cared about the opinions of others and would never feel wronged or sad because of what others did or said. However, this issue with the child seemed to trouble her from the start, disrupting her normal life considerably and tinting her future visions with less than rosy hues.

But no matter how irksome those feelings were, Su Yanyi had never considered giving up on the child. The moment she learned of the news, she had accepted the child’s existence, which was actually quite out of character for her.

Mother Su had urged Yanyi many times to have a child, but she, too, harbored concerns over this issue, fearing that Su Yanyi’s personality would lead her to not want children at all. The girl was so indifferent and assertive that she seemed to have no affinity with cute, soft, and adorable things like babies. Thus, when Su Yanyi announced her pregnancy, the Su family became so anxious that they almost turned into chatterboxes.

When Qin Jiran came in with the lunchbox, he saw Su Yanyi frowning and looking down at her stomach, her expression a mixture of struggle and quirkiness, yet also surprisingly endearing. Qin Jiran silently laughed, took out his phone, and swiftly snapped a couple of photos, capturing the moment.

Su Yanyi suddenly looked up and, seeing Qin Jiran’s actions, asked with some confusion, "What are you taking pictures of?"

"Of my wife, of course. Lunch is here, time to eat. Go wash your hands," Qin Jiran said, putting away his phone with no intention of showing the pictures to Su Yanyi. These slightly different photos were better kept for his private collection.

The two enjoyed a lovely lunch. The meal was still sumptuous, with four dishes, a soup, and two kinds of dessert, all appropriate for an expectant mother. Qin Jiran, not wanting Su Yanyi to get tired of the food, made sure the dishes didn’t repeat over the course of the week, which revealed his painstaking attention to detail.

Meanwhile, Qin Haowen, who had been forgotten in the resting room, was far from comfortable. Sitting idly for several hours was also quite taxing, and he felt hungry when lunchtime came. However, his not so high IQ told him that if he left now, he probably would never see Su Yanyi again, which is why, despite feeling frustrated, he endured and stayed. When he discovered who his father was, he had done some research, and Qin Haowen’s name was on the Qin family’s list, but it seemed he had never met him. However, he was aware of the recent events that had occurred within the Qin family, which helped him remember who bore that name.

"Why is he coming to you? Shouldn’t he be looking for Qin Chu?" Qin Jiran couldn’t quite understand. It seemed like everyone wanted to come to him or Yanyi. They had always been trying to distance themselves from the Qin family. Couldn’t those people feel it at all?
