Chapter 295: Chapter 295: The Best Baby (1)

Qin Jiran drank the ginger soup, feeling as if his entire being was warmed from the inside out. His gaze was soft as he looked at Su Yanyi.

For Su Yanyi herself, however, she didn’t feel that it was anything significant. It was just a bowl of ginger soup, and although it was her first time making it, she didn’t think it was a great favor. Moreover, she even felt that it was something she ought to do. Qin Jiran was sick, and making ginger soup for him to drink was the right thing to do, wasn’t it?

After taking the empty bowl from Qin Jiran’s hands, she asked, "Do you want more?"

"Yes." The flavor of the ginger soup was pure, not at all like it was made by a novice. Qin Jiran liked it very much, and of course, what he liked even more was Su Yanyi’s thoughtfulness. He guessed that even if it tasted terrible, he would still find it delicious.

Su Yanyi filled another bowl for him but didn’t wait for him to finish drinking. Instead, she went straight to the kitchen. Qin Jiran wanted to follow and see, but remembering Su Yanyi’s stern face as she told him not to come downstairs, he could only wait impatiently and anxiously.

Soon, enticing aromas wafted from the kitchen, somewhat reassuring Qin Jiran, but also making him even more curious. Could Yanyi actually cook? But he had heard from Mother Su that Yanyi had never cooked before, and in the three years they had been together, he had never seen Yanyi cook. So, was this really her first time?

The more Qin Jiran thought about it, the more curious and expectant he became. If he really could eat a meal made by Yanyi, this bout of illness would truly be worth it!

In fact, after drinking the ginger soup, Qin Jiran already had this feeling. Being cared for so attentively by Yanyi, and even having her personally make ginger soup for him to drink, whatever discomfort he felt was trivial. Even if it meant being sick every day, he would willingly accept it.

However, Qin Jiran only entertained these thoughts. Not to mention that he wouldn’t be sick every day, even if he could, he wouldn’t choose to. Compared to being cared for by Yanyi, he preferred to take care of her. He didn’t want Yanyi to suffer and labor for his sake. Things like cooking, once or twice might be okay, but if Yanyi were to do it often, he would definitely be distressed!

While Qin Jiran’s mind was filled with wild thoughts, Su Yanyi had already brought the first dish to the table. The table was a small kang table, the kind that can be placed on a kang bed. Su Yanyi put the dish on it, and Qin Jiran’s gaze immediately shifted to it.

Chinese cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, and slices of meat. This should be called "black and white cabbage," right? Qin Jiran looked at it, feeling that the dish was complete in color and aroma and would surely taste good.

"Can I try it?" Qin Jiran asked somewhat impatiently, finally understanding the feeling Yanyi occasionally had when she secretly snacked. That longing to taste was really hard to control.

"Mm, go ahead and eat." Su Yanyi was exceptionally tolerant towards the sick Qin Jiran, not only agreeing but also passing him a pair of chopsticks before heading back to the kitchen.

Qin Jiran calmed that sweetly enveloping feeling, sniffed first, then couldn’t wait to take a bite. Then his eyes brightened, and he quickly ate several more mouthfuls.

Qin Jiran felt that if it were really Yanyi’s first time cooking, then she must be a culinary genius. The flavor of the dish was excellent, even better than his own cooking.

After a few bites, Qin Jiran began to hesitate to eat more, feeling guilty about finishing it all by himself. He reluctantly put down the chopsticks and gazed eagerly in the direction of the door, looking forward to Su Yanyi coming quickly.

The second dish was stir-fried eggs with shiitake mushrooms, the third was diced meat with peas, and the last was a black bean and carp soup. It goes without saying that while the dishes weren’t complicated, the flavors were absolutely delightful, and Qin Jiran thought they must be extremely delicious just by the smell.
