Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Old Master Qin (3)

Qin Jiran sped up, and as expected, the car behind him did too. His gaze turned slightly frosty; he had no intention of bringing danger home. These people were of unknown origin, and he wouldn’t risk letting them near his family. However, he was curious about their objective. Surely they couldn’t abduct him in broad daylight!

Just at that moment, a small truck suddenly burst out from a bend on the left side ahead, blocking Qin Jiran’s path and forcing him to stop his car.

Not one to sit idly by, Qin Jiran burst out of the car the moment he stopped. But before he could take a few steps, he saw a familiar figure alighting from the vehicle ahead, and he immediately recognized the newcomer’s identity.

Zhang Yuanzhuo! Qin Jiran watched the approacher coolly, standing straight with his back erect. Despite being surrounded by more than a dozen people, he exuded a formidable presence.

"Mr. Qin, please come with me to see Elder Qin. Surely you wouldn’t like such incidents to become routine," Zhang Yuanzhuo’s words were clearly a threat. He knew Qin Jiran disliked trouble, and though he couldn’t really kidnap Qin Jiran, he could certainly keep bothering him—and that was something he could achieve!

Zhang Yuanzhuo was staking it all. After all, Old Master Qin’s health was failing, and for some unfathomable reason, the Elder wished to see this grandson, neglected by the Qin family for over two decades, one more time before his passing. The will had been preliminarily drafted with a lawyer to ensure nothing went wrong, yet it was left with room for amendments. It was uncertain whether it was meant to include Jiran.

Zhang Yuanzhuo was not entirely sure of the contents of Elder Qin’s will nor whether it included Qin Jiran. His mentioning of the will was simply to persuade Jiran to visit Elder Qin out of respect for the will’s significance, thus fulfilling the Elder’s request. But he hadn’t anticipated how impervious Qin Jiran was to such matters, scoffing at the mention of the will and adding a barbed retort that left Zhang with no choice but to resort to such distressing tactics in hopes of coaxing a compromise from Jiran.

Qin Jiran was naturally not one to compromise, but he hated inconvenience even more. He couldn’t comprehend why Old Master Qin would want to see him after nearly thirty years of indifference—what could be the point? It was nothing but needless trouble!

Although that was his thought, the fact that Old Master Qin wanted to see him was undeniable.

After considering his options, Qin Jiran surveyed the surrounding group with an icy gaze and declared coldly, "I will go on my own. You may leave now."

Resolving the issue once and for all was the best approach. Since there was a desire to see him, he would oblige just this once—it would be his act of kindness to a dying man!

Zhang Yuanzhuo’s eyes brightened and he breathed a sigh of relief. The task was finally complete. "Mr. Qin, then I shall return and report to Elder Qin."

After sending off Zhang Yuanzhuo, Qin Jiran hurried back home, his expression still grim as he pondered when to meet Old Master Qin. But upon his arrival, he was surprised to find Su Yanyi had arrived before him. She was sitting in the living room reading the newspaper and looked up at him as he entered. Before he could even greet her, she asked, "What’s wrong? You don’t look too happy."

After a moment’s thought, Jiran decided to tell her about the Qin family’s situation. As Qin Jiran recounted the events, Su Yanyi’s expression turned dark. Someone had dared to blatantly intercept Qin Jiran’s car, and even if it wasn’t an abduction, it was enough to make Su Yanyi angry.
