Chapter 774: Chapter 774: Recalling Past Lives [Sixth Update]

Due to the battle over the minor Torch Dragon in the Divine Realm, Xu Chongsheng was very upset with Qin Jun. Moreover, since Qin Jun is the reincarnation of a war god, Xu Chongsheng saw this as an opportunity to eliminate the Heavenly Court of Great Qin and turn it into a corps of zombie slaves.

The once mighty war god, if raised well, would undoubtedly become a powerful ally.

Therefore, in supporting Tathāgata, he always carried himself with an air of superiority because in his view, Tathāgata was simply lucky, and it just so happened that he wanted to lay his hands on Qin Jun.

But unexpectedly, Tathāgata erupted with such formidable strength that even his aura made Xu Chongsheng shiver.

To make the Dominance Leaderboard’s fifth-ranked Corpse King shiver!

That was enough to show how strong Tathāgata was!

"Where are you looking?"

Kua Fu bellowed, the green and yellow snakes on his arms extended like Sea Dragons, swiftly coiling around a colossal bone claw hovering above Xu Chongsheng’s head.

Xu Chongsheng regained his focus, and on the battlefield, although three beings were more eye-catching than Kua Fu, he was restrained by Kua Fu, which irritated him, giving him a sense of embarrassment.

In a rage, Xu Chongsheng spread his arms wide and let out a low shout. His body rapidly swelled, and stark, menacing bones erupted from his joints. His blood hair also elongated, waving like tentacles, and in no time, he transformed into a hundred-zhang-tall zombie demon, with a ghostly pale face and sharp teeth, and his body was studded with bone spurs that chilled the onlooker’s heart.

But even at a hundred zhang tall, Xu Chongsheng still looked rather small in front of Kua Fu.

Kua Fu sneered and swung his palm to strike, but in the next second, Xu Chongsheng’s figure vanished and reappeared behind Kua Fu.

Xu Chongsheng struck with both palms, and two immense bone claws materialized out of thin air at his side. With a ’thud’ ’thud’, they pierced through Kua Fu’s back, blood spraying wildly, causing Kua Fu’s bushy brows to furrow as the green and yellow snakes quickly tore at them, but Xu Chongsheng, too fast, dodged once more.

When he reemerged, Xu Chongsheng was by Kua Fu’s left thigh, still wielding two bone claws, which tore a large chunk of flesh from Kua Fu’s thigh, blood gushing freely.

Unable to contain his anger, Kua Fu immediately shrank to a hundred zhang in height to guard against Xu Chongsheng’s surprise attacks.

"You could never be faster than me!"

Xu Chongsheng mocked, once again appearing behind Kua Fu, ready to launch another attack on him.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Three sounds of tearing through the air occurred almost simultaneously. Xu Chongsheng instinctively looked back, and scorching giant arrows pierced his chest, abdomen, and thigh, the intense heat causing Xu Chongsheng’s expression to change drastically.

As a Corpse King, he’s not afraid of being hacked into pieces, but he does fear being burned to ashes.

Zombies and soul creatures fear fire the most.

Hou Yi watched him coldly, from tens of miles away.

Now, Hou Yi was like a long-range artilleryman, supporting the entire battlefield. With his Daluo realm at the peak of Immortal Realm, he could even contain Tathāgata.

At the same time, facing the formidable Tathāgata, Xing Tian looked down at the handprint on his chest. Far from being frightened, his smile grew even more ferocious.

Twisting his neck towards Tathāgata, he chuckled coldly, "Now this is interesting, just a bit of pain, but still not enough!"

With that, he leaped skyward, his colossal frame rising like Mount Tai being upheaved, raising his giant axe, and swinging it towards Tathāgata.

Boom——

Tathāgata did not dodge, raising his palm to meet the blow head-on. The axe collided with his right palm, and in that instant, the shockwave of power burst forth, visibly sweeping across in all directions.

The already shattered ground collapsed further with the blast, rocks and dirt were pushed aside like waves, soldiers, demon soldiers, monks, and zombie slaves were swept away, and the entire Western Domain shook violently, even the Southern Domain and surrounding regions felt the tremors.

All creatures engaged in battle stopped and looked on in awe at the god-like figures of Xing Tian and Tathāgata.

Even Qin Jun couldn’t help but think of the legend of Xing Tian beheading the Heavenly Emperor; the myths were nowhere near as spectacular as what he was witnessing.

The Victorious Fighting Buddha pinned Sun Wukong to the ground, but his gaze was fixed on Tathāgata, his eyes filled with complex emotions as he muttered, "No matter which world it is, you, Tathāgata, are always so domineering."

He had sought the Way overseas, caused Havoc in Heaven, endured agonies under Mount Five Elements, and struggled on the journey to the west, eventually becoming the Victorious Fighting Buddha, but he did not feel grateful to Tathāgata; in fact, he had hated Tathāgata from beginning to end.

However, he knew how to restrain his emotions and did not want to repeat his past mistakes before he had the strength to overthrow Tathāgata.

Bearing with it temporarily was far better than blindly rushing to one’s death.

Below him, Sun Wukong was still struggling, but against absolute power, his efforts were in vain.

The Victorious Fighting Buddha looked down, saying softly, "Sun Wukong would not fall at the same hurdle twice."

Unfortunately, Sun Wukong was in a frenzied state and completely ignored his warning.

This caused the Victorious Fighting Buddha to frown and, in response, he slammed his right foot down on Sun Wukong’s chest, causing the ground beneath to cave in and cracks to spider out in all directions.

"Useless! Wake up now!"

The Victorious Fighting Buddha bellowed angrily, his voice echoing in all directions and drawing the gaze of most creatures away from Tathāgata and onto him, including Qin Jun’s.

As Qin Jun watched the Victorious Fighting Buddha trample Sun Wukong, noticing the frustrated expression on his face, something stirred within him.

"Wake up!"

"Wake up!"

"Wake up!"

The Victorious Fighting Buddha continued to roar as he stamped his right foot down on Sun Wukong, who howled in response; it was clear that the Victorious Fighting Buddha was showing no mercy.

Tang Sanzang quickly flew over and landed in front of Sun Wukong and the Victorious Fighting Buddha. The Victorious Fighting Buddha glanced at him and asked, "What do you want to do this time? Save his soul? Get rid of him?"

Feeling the Victorious Fighting Buddha’s cold attitude, Tang Sanzang kept a calm face and slowly sat down in front of Sun Wukong’s head.

"Learn the Prajna Paramita; if a great Bodhisattva wishes to always remember and abide by it, so as not to forget the mind of great Bodhi, stay away from evil friends, be close to good friends, and constantly cultivate the practices of a great Bodhisattva..."

Tang Sanzang started reciting scriptures to himself, causing the Victorious Fighting Buddha’s brows to knit even more tightly.

He was reciting the Great Prajna Sutra, one of the western scriptures obtained by Tang Sanzang. Unlike the Tight-Binding Curse that tortures Sun Wukong with severe pain, this scripture could purify the soul and ward off evil spirits.

"Your master is before you, why still not awake!"

The Victorious Fighting Buddha continued to stomp down on Sun Wukong’s chest, his tone becoming even more fierce than before.

Looking at Sun Wukong in this state, it was difficult even for someone with the kindest nature to remain calm.

"Sun Wukong, why can’t you understand!"

"The tragedy at Flower and Fruit Mountain, the five hundred years of torment, the eighty-one tribulations on the journey to the west—how much have you been through?"

"Temper your arrogance and understand your own strength!"

"The reason you’ve fallen to this state is because you’re too weak!"

The Victorious Fighting Buddha became more and more agitated as he spoke, as if he was scolding his former self, which was indeed the case.

To other creatures listening in, it seemed as though the Victorious Fighting Buddha and Sun Wukong had a deep hatred for one another.

Tathāgata watched anxiously; he truly feared that Sun Wukong would be crushed to death by the Victorious Fighting Buddha.

The heart-wrenching roars of Sun Wukong echoed between heaven and earth, chilling to the bone. The power of the Victorious Fighting Buddha was truly terrifying, to be able to suppress such a frenzied being.
