Chapter 719: Immortal City of Fate
Chapter 719: Chapter 719: Immortal City of Fate
"The Demon Ancestor himself killed? Interesting, who has such ability?"
Donghuang Taiyi muttered to himself, having now grasped the strengths within this realm; the Demon Ancestor, at the Daluo to the mid-phase of the Immortal Realm, could be conservatively estimated to rank within the top fifty of this world.
However, he was only interested, not fearful.
In this entire world, there was no one he feared!
If it weren’t for the immortal gods looking down high above, he would’ve already turned heaven and earth upside down; he was merely waiting for the right moment.
With that thought, he turned his gaze toward Nether Lord City, his eyes flickering, pondering something unknown.
Seeing he took no further action, the cultivators and beast monsters in the sky couldn’t help but rush towards Nether Lord City.
Up to now, at least a million beings had charged into Nether Lord City, but most were consumed by the dark green mists on the city’s surface, leaving behind only white bones—a sight too horrible to endure.
"Something’s off with this city."
Donghuang Taiyi talked to himself, watching as the cultivators and beast monsters fell one after another like moths drawn to a flame; he shook his head.
He wasn’t in a hurry to leave; he wanted to see who had killed the Demon Ancestor.
Projecting his Divine Consciousness, he discovered that hidden within Nether Lord City was a strong being who had perfected the Daluo phase of the Immortal Realm, a cultivation nearly at the pinnacle of this world. And so, he was very interested in recruiting this individual.
Although he was a God and Demon who had descended early, without memories of a previous life, the memories arranged for him by the system were those of a Golden Crow born on the sun who had long ago descended to this world to cultivate. Seventeen years ago he had ended his seclusion, only to find the world greatly changed, making him feel alienated.
And so, Donghuang Taiyi hovered above Nether Lord City, overlooking the chaotic battlefield.
The cultivators from various sects and those from Nether King Palace had already formed a complete alliance, battling against the beast soldiers brought by the Demon Ancestor. Nether Lord City, being only so large, couldn’t possibly accommodate all beings, which inevitably led to conflict and a chain reaction of chaotic battles.
At the same time, a constant stream of cultivators and beast monsters arrived.
News of the God’s Tomb had already spread far and wide, with the earlier disturbance from the Wolf Demon shaking the entire Central Wasteland, essentially signaling to all beings that the God’s Tomb had emerged!
"Forward! Fortune lies ahead!"
"Hiss—is that the God’s Tomb? Why does it look like a city?"
"My heavens! What kind of battle took place here before? The ground is completely shattered..."
"Terrifying... That person’s aura is so strong!"
"Eh? Why does he seem somewhat familiar!"
Groups of cultivators were discussing amongst themselves, all taken aback by the scenes surrounding Nether Lord City.
The previous disturbance by the Wolf Demon had caused the ground to crack for tens of thousands of miles around Nether Lord City, fissures as large as canyons scattered everywhere.
...
Inside Nether Lord City.
Qin Jun and the others were unstoppable as they charged toward the center. Along the way, they encountered many attacks from ghostly figures of Mysterious Immortal strength, fortunately, Hou Yi and the others were strong enough.
"This isn’t opportunity, it’s a dead end."
Meng Tian sighed; if it were him who had ventured in alone, he might well have had no return.
The rest nodded in agreement. Hou Yi, flying overhead, shot dozens of arrows simultaneously each time he drew his bow, scattering the ghostly assailants from all directions. The ghosts would quickly re-form and continue their frenzied assault.
"It seems this city possesses some mysterious force," Bai Ze murmured, walking alongside Qin Jun.
To be able to constantly maintain and reshape these ghost bodies with Mysterious Immortal strength was something she couldn’t even imagine.
Qin Jun didn’t speak. He was communicating with the system, which indicated that they were less than five hundred meters away from the center of Nether Lord City.
In front of them, a towering iron gate stood fifty zhang high and incredibly solid.
Charging at the forefront, Yang Jian threw a punch at it.
Boom!
With overpowering force, the gate was blasted open, rebounding off the wall, causing the entire Nether Lord City to tremble.
Before Qin Jun and the others’ eyes was a dark stone path, pitch-black on both sides, obscuring all vision. At the end of the stone path was a brass platform, above which hovered a brightly shining orb, iridescent and splendid.
"What’s that?" the Dragon Emperor muttered, frowning.
At that moment, Qin Jun burst forward, as if possessed, causing the others to hurriedly follow suit.
Upon passing through the iron gate, they realized the stone path was flanked by cliffs, unfathomably deep, as if connected to an endless hell below.
"Roar—"
"Roar—"
Two roaring sounds exploded simultaneously, violently shaking Nether Lord City, even making Donghuang Taiyi above raise his eyebrows.
The faces of Qin Jun and the others changed dramatically; wasn’t that howl from the Wolf Demon?
Could it be that there were two more Wolf Demons inside Nether Lord City?
At that thought, everyone’s hearts skipped a beat, even Hou Yi narrowed his eyes.
Facing two Wolf Demons in a confined space could pose a risk of accidental harm to Qin Jun and the others.
But despite the fear, Qin Jun immediately burst into full speed.
After all, he was at the fifth layer of the True Immortal Realm; with a stomp of his right foot, his body shot toward the brass platform like an arrow.
Yang Jian and the others followed closely, while Hou Yi remained airborne, constantly wary of their surroundings.
From the darkness below the stone path, two enormous figures slowly rose, their blood-red eyes glaring ominously in the dark.
Soon, Qin Jun reached the brass platform. Without hesitation, he bit his fingertip, forced out his blood essence, and let it drip into the hovering orb above the platform.
"Your Majesty!" Yang Jian exclaimed in shock, not understanding why Qin Jun was being so rash.
Did Qin Jun already understand the God’s Tomb beforehand?
Meanwhile, two Wolf Demons climbed up from both sides of the stone path. Though their size was far less than the previous one outside, their presence was no less menacing.
Hou Yi turned and shot two arrows, illuminating the underground space with firelight and revealing the true forms of the Wolf Demons.
Boom!
Boom!
Two ferocious, blazing arrows struck the Wolf Demons squarely, smashing the iron wall behind them, collapsing soil and stone, and burying their forms beneath the debris.
Without exerting full strength, but with immense power, the arrows shredded the Wolf Demons into pieces amidst the dirt and rubble. As load-bearing walls toppled, Nether Lord City violently shook, as if it would collapse at any moment.
On the other hand, Qin Jun stared tensely at the orb in front of him. According to the system, this was supposed to be the life core of Nether Lord City.
But why was there no response after his blood had been dropped in?
"A grand world, an immortal City of Fate!"
A profound voice suddenly rang in Qin Jun’s ears. Immediately afterward, the life core burst forth with even more dazzling light, blinding Qin Jun and making everyone else extremely anxious, fearing for his safety.
The next second, the life core moved, embedding itself directly into Qin Jun’s chest. He felt his body instantly stiffen, losing control.
But he was not panicked; if the system had issued a task, this should not harm him. Yet, faced with the unknown, he couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous.
"What in the world is this..." Bai Ze stared intently at the life core in Qin Jun’s chest, her calculations coming up empty, met only with a void.
