Chapter 699: Beheading

Chapter 699: Chapter 699: Beheading

Wang Ci’s hatred?

Qin Jun’s mouth twitched, could it be that there was some connection between the Nether King Scythe and Wang Ci?

Little did he know that news of the earlier battle had already reached Wang Ci’s ears.

In Zhonghuang, spies scattered by the Nether King Palace could swiftly send back any bit of news to the Nether King City.

"It seems this Wang Ci must be eliminated."

Qin Jun muttered as he held the Nether King Scythe, undaunted by the Nether King Palace and the God Temple, who were much of a muchness, at most slightly stronger. He estimated that the lord of the palace, Wang Ci, wouldn’t exceed the Daluo Golden Immortal, so he harbored no fear.

Afterward, he stepped out of the spell tower with the Double-pupil Bird.

Bai Ze, Hou Yi, and Yang Jian all came over to congratulate Qin Jun, commending him on the advancement in his cultivation.

"How did it go?" Qin Jun asked with a smile, inquiring about the earlier battle.

Yang Jian quickly reported the battle results, and upon hearing that Hou Yi had forcefully slain five Taiyi Mysterious Immortals, Qin Jun couldn’t help but laugh.

"Well done!" Qin Jun exclaimed while patting Hou Yi on the shoulder, as the loss of five Taiyi Mysterious Immortals was indeed a heavy blow to the Nether King Palace.

Hou Yi didn’t respond, his smile indicating that his vanity had been satisfied.

Yang Jian laid out all the intelligence he had gathered in the city, causing Qin Jun to frown.

After ten thousand years, Li Si and Wang Jian were still alive; now facing beheading by Wang Ci, he couldn’t possibly refrain from rescuing them.

"Where is Ancient Jicheng City?" Qin Jun asked in a deep voice.

"Far away, even if we travel at full speed, it will take a day’s time," Yang Jian replied somberly, pulling out a map of Zhonghuang he had purchased in the city.

Qin Jun nodded and immediately decided, "Let’s go! We set out now and make a scene in Ancient Jicheng City!"

At these words, both Yang Jian and Hou Yi revealed excited, battle-hungry smiles.

Bai Ze, however, calculated with his fingers and his expression changed slightly, but he said nothing.

...

Time shifted, and five days hurried by.

Ancient Jicheng City.

Buildings rose high, various flying beasts and mounts circled above the city walls as cultivators flew in from all directions.

In the city, there was a stone platform ten zhang long and wide, half a zhang tall, upon which Li Si and Wang Jian knelt. They wore prisoner’s garb, covered in fresh blood, their energy wilted. Compared to ten thousand years ago, Li Si looked even more careworn, and Wang Jian’s face was riddled with scars, clearly having endured many hardships over the years.

Behind them stood robust men bare to the waist, each holding a large blade. Wang Ci sat in the primary seat, with the Hundred-Eyed Demon Monarch and Young Master You each sitting on one side.

Below the platform was a sea of cultivators looking up at Li Si and Wang Jian, muttering and pointing.

"Are those Li Si and Wang Jian? They say that Li Si’s wisdom is unmatched, and that Qin’s growth today owes much to him!"

"Alas, Wang Jian was also a brave man. Back in the day, for the sake of Qin, he faced the enemy’s fire without fear, even as they burned his face."

"It’s their fault for offending the Nether King Palace!"

"Humph, Zhonghuang has always been the Nether King Palace’s territory!"

"Do you think the Dragon Emperor will come to their aid?"

Listening to the murmurs from below, Li Si and Wang Jian wore emotionless expressions, as if they were indifferent to life and death.

Young Master You smiled at Wang Ci and said, "Two Daluos, shall we just behead them like this?"

Based on his understanding of the Nether King Palace, Wang Ci should be trying his best to win over Li Si and Wang Jian.

Wang Ci waved his hand with a smile, "These two are too stubborn, they can only be removed. Once their heads are cut off and their souls collected, maybe Young Master You would like to refine them into ghost slaves?"

At these words, Young Master You raised an eyebrow. Ghost slaves of the Golden Immortal Realm were not so easily acquired, so he smiled and said, "Thank you, Palace Master Wang, if there’s anything I can assist with in the future, I won’t decline."

Although he was the Nether Emperor’s most beloved son, he had no less than a thousand brothers, and connections were important for his future ascent. He could not solely rely on his father’s favor.

Upon hearing this, Wang Ci’s face lit up with joy.

The Hundred-Eyed Demon Monarch silently cursed in his heart; Wang Ci was actually making a connection with Young Master You, which was not good for the Demon Ancestor’s future plans.

Seeing Wang Ci and Young Master You foster connections, while he could not get a word in, the Hundred-Eyed Demon Monarch was extremely uncomfortable.

Time passed swiftly.

Wang Ci felt it was about time, but the Dragon Emperor and Meng Tian had still not shown up. He thought they might be lurking nearby, waiting for the right moment.

"The time has come, prepare to behead them!" Wang Ci stood up and commanded in a stern voice.

As soon as he spoke, the two robust men behind Li Si and Wang Jian cracked their necks, readying themselves to chop off their heads. But having been previously instructed by Wang Ci, they deliberately slowed their actions.

Li Si and Wang Jian’s cultivation was utterly depleted, their meridians severed, rendering them useless, unable even to let their Primordial Spirits escape.

"Brother Wang, although we cannot live together, dying together is also meaningful. This life of mine has been worth it!" Li Si said with a raspy, fearless laugh.

Wang Jian shook his head with a smile, "The relationship between you and me, from past lives to this one, is better than that of brothers. How does death matter? It’s just a pity that we won’t be able to see His Majesty one last time."

As they mentioned Qin Jun, a wistfulness appeared on Li Si’s face.

Their ten-thousand-year appointment was nearing, yet it looked like they were still going to fall.

If they had to say what they couldn’t let go of, it wasn’t their wives and children, but the promise they made to Qin Jun.

Just then, the two robust men lifted their large blades, ready to cut off the heads of Li Si and Wang Jian, but they had previously received arrangements from Wang Ci, which caused them to deliberately slow their movements.

Young Master You squinted, scanning the crowd below.

The four men in black behind him were as silent as shadows, hard for anyone to link them with Daluo strong warriors.

The atmosphere grew tense, the cultivators below and the people in various pavilions all at the edge of their seats.

"Mmm—"

Suddenly, the sound of a dragon’s roar burst out as a white dragon barreled down from a western street, its presence immense and its speed so fast that many cultivators couldn’t react.

In the blink of an eye, the white dragon attempted to whisk away Li Si and Wang Jian.

"Seeking death!"

Wang Ci shouted in anger, his eyes filled with elation as he spoke. With a clawing gesture of his right hand through empty space, a giant black hand formed from demonic energy lunged towards the white dragon, faster even than the white dragon itself.

With a bang!

The black hand flew above the heads of Li Si and Wang Jian, crashing into the white dragon.

The white dragon, which was the Dragon Emperor, got blasted away, its massive body plowing through building after building as it went, kicking up dust and dirt and causing many cultivators to flee in terror.

"Dragon Emperor!"

Wang Jian exclaimed in shock, not expecting the Dragon Emperor to actually come to their rescue in this certain death trap.

"Mid-stage Daluo Golden Immortal Realm!"

One of the black-clad men behind Young Master You whispered, "This dragon is gravely injured, its fighting strength reduced to less than a tenth, absolutely seeking death."

Young Master You’s mouth curled up, his face wearing a look of mockery. He despised those who acted on such things as loyalty.

In his view, there was no such thing as absolute friendship, only interests were eternal.

"Humph! You finally showed up, don’t think for a moment that you can leave alive today!"

Wang Ci sneered. As his voice fell, he vanished from his spot.

When he reappeared, he was a kilometer away, looking down at the Dragon Emperor who had reverted to human form and lay amidst the rubble. Wang Ci struck down with his palm.

With a thunderous crash!

The ground below collapsed, tossing wood debris and shattered stones into the air, mixed with blood – dragon blood.

This scene led many onlookers to shake their heads in pity.
