Chapter 448: Chapter 448: The Height of Qi Movement【Fourth Update】
Gazing across the expanse, the area around the Heavenly Convention platform was thronged with no fewer than a million people, for within a radius of five miles it was quite open, devoid of many buildings, filled instead with human figures.
Basking in the kneeling adoration of over a million people, Qin Jun couldn’t help but squint his eyes, a smile on his face, yet he did not speak.
According to protocol, unless Qin Jun said "rise," his kneeling subjects were not permitted to stand up.
The assembly of ministers and generals exchanged looks, sensing that something was amiss. They hastily knelt as well, with the fiercely loyal Old Man Yi taking the lead, compelling even the mighty ones in the Golden Immortal Realm like the Nine Spirits to kneel.
With every person present kneeling before Qin Jun, the atmosphere grew somewhat tense as he remained silent.
"The Great Qin Celestial Court has been established, and I am the eternal sovereign!"
Qin Jun slowly raised both hands, facing the sunlight, reveling in the feeling of unparalleled supremacy.
After about a minute, Qin Jun finally said, "You may all rise."
At these words, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, fearing that Qin Jun might have them kneel indefinitely.
Yet, subconsciously, their prolonged kneeling deepened their reverence for Qin Jun.
Even Jin Wuhui and Qi Xie dared not look into Qin Jun’s eyes anymore, especially Jin Wuhui, who inwardly lamented, "My heart’s exclusive sword dao is probably going to be broken..."
At that moment, Li Jing and Nezha flew over, escorting the Sacred Emperor, who was clad in tattered prison garments.
Seeing the Sacred Emperor in such a state, everyone inhaled sharply, but no one dared to comment aloud.
The once invincible Sacred Emperor, perceived as a god by many, now reduced to this plight, naturally evoked pity.
Now, all statues of the Sacred Emperors throughout the Southern Domain had been destroyed, replaced by stone statues of Qin Jun.
"Begin!"
Qin Jun did not waste words; if a moment wasn’t spent progressing the Heavenly Convention, he felt uneasy.
He certainly did not wish to fall back to the Transforming Void Realm, as that would be too humiliating.
Li Jing nodded, then pushed the Sacred Emperor forward.
Still in a daze, the Sacred Emperor perceived the odd looks coming from all around him and, upon blinking, almost died of shame.
But recalling the terrifying torment within the Linglong Treasure Pagoda, he clenched his teeth and raised his hands.
Each level of the Linglong Treasure Pagoda contained different prohibitions, torturous enough to make existence worse than death. Nezha had once been tormented so severely that it left a shadow on him.
The once-formidable Little Overlord was no more, and the audacious figure of the Supreme Heaven Great Sage, who had been crushed beneath the Five Finger Mountain for five hundred years, was also gone.
Everyone fears torture; it’s just the form of the feared torment that varies.
Rumble——
The hands of the Sacred Emperor erupted with golden light, like two torrents striking towards the skies above the Heavenly Convention platform, conjuring a golden vortex out of thin air that hung above everyone’s heads like a mini sun.
Then an imposing figure stepped out from it, a black silhouette that gleamed like a radiant body, his face indistinct, outlined by the contours and lines of his armor, standing five fathoms tall, with a great blade in his right hand, looking down coldly and dispassionately upon everyone.
"The Heavenly Convention is about to begin. Those participating, come here to receive the mark of qi movement," said the shadow in a cold voice, unfluctuating in tone.
Qin Jun displayed no surprise, having already learned the identity of this shadow: a Black Law Envoy, likely a servant or guardian of the God Temple. This was merely one of his split bodies, lacking independent will, present in other domains as well, to register the identities of participants.
Under Qin Jun’s gaze, Zhao Yun and An Lang took the lead and flew up first.
Zhao Yun still wore his silver armor, with plumes resembling snowy phoenix tails fluttering on his helmet, while An Lang was clad in dark red brocade, the two proceeding side by side, a sight sure to attract attention.
The pair quickly reached the Black Law Envoy, who raised his right hand and, with two touches in the air, black lights entered their foreheads. Instantly, smoke-like trails emerged above their heads.
Nine Spirits quickly grasped the auras, channeling them swiftly toward the high platform where Qin Jun stood. Earth Traveler Monkey slapped the ground, and a hundred-yard-high wall of earth rose beside the platform, lined with nearly a hundred names at the base. The smoke-like trails swiftly settled above the names of Zhao Yun and An Lang.
This smoke represented the qi movement of Zhao Yun and An Lang. Zhao Yun’s qi movement was silver, a mere arm’s length, whereas An Lang’s black qi movement towered half a meter.
During the Heavenly Convention, citizens and cultivators could gauge the participants’ battle progress from their qi movement columns. If the qi movement dissipated, it meant death, and those who wished to withdraw had to wait until the Heavenly Convention concluded.
At each Heavenly Convention, at least seventy percent of the participants perished.
This year’s Heavenly Convention, with the Qin Emperor himself leading the party, the outcomes might be different.
Following Zhao Yun’s and An Lang’s example, the rest of the participants commenced their flight toward the Black Law Envoy.
The spectators, made up of cultivators and common folk, speculated curiously about which prodigy’s qi movement would be the greatest. Generally, the higher the qi movement, the stronger the individual and the less likely their premature demise.
Qi movement, though esoteric, can be simply thought of in terms of luck.
The higher the qi movement, the luckier one is, allowing greater chances of fortune.
Once all participating geniuses had received their qi movement marks, Qin Jun slowly levitated, and up to that moment, the qi movement column of Jin Wuhui stood a meter tall, which made An Lang, Yang Shiqi, and Xu Tianyou itch with envy.
All eyes were fixed on Qin Jun, curious about his own qi movement.
Soon, the Black Law Envoy marked Qin Jun with the qi movement imprint.
A golden light flew forth from Qin Jun’s head and, under the control of the Nine Spirits, it swiftly flew to the front of the towering wall of earth, settling upon the name of the Qin Emperor, prompting everyone to widen their eyes in awe.
The golden light seemed to ignite, rapidly catching flame.
One meter!
Five meters!
Ten meters!
Twenty meters!
Reaching a height of nearly thirty meters, it soared above the other few dozen qi movement columns, a conspicuously radiant sight amongst them.
Jin Wuhui’s mouth twitched, his pride trampled by Qin Jun once again.
"Tsk tsk, worthy of His Majesty," An Lang exclaimed, now devoid of any ambition to compete with Qin Jun, filled only with admiration.
Zhao Yun nodded with a smile, "His Majesty is indeed blessed by the heavens, it’s only right."
The cultivators and common folks also burst into fervent discussion, as lively as a boiling pot.
"Truly worthy of His Majesty, such high qi movement!"
"No wonder he has managed to gather such formidable warriors!"
"It seems the rumors of His Majesty being the child of destiny might be true!"
"This is good news! The higher His Majesty’s qi movement, the more it will benefit our Great Qin Celestial Court."
Qin Jun’s lips curved slightly upwards, feeling quite satisfied internally.
Under the renewed control of Li Jing and Nezha, the Sacred Emperor bore a bitter expression, with nobody advocating for him, as all the talk centered around Qin Jun’s virtues. His reign as the Sacred Emperor truly felt like a failure.
"The qi movement marks are now set, the Heavenly Realm will soon open, please prepare yourselves, participants!"
The Black Law Envoy spoke again, heightening the tension among all participants.
No one could attend the Heavenly Convention twice, at least not in the Southern Domain. This was everyone’s first time, and they all knew the myriad tales concerning the convention, so nervousness was inevitable.
But for many, the excitement was greater, for every survivor of the Heavenly Convention had reaped benefits beyond the ordinary!
