Chapter 258: Chapter 258: The General Comes Late
Lei Zhenzi!
The entire king’s city could hear Lei Zhenzi’s voice, as if the gods of the Nine Heavens were admonishing the world, instilling awe in their hearts.
At the same time, the citizens and cultivators were enlivened, could this person called Lei Zhenzi possibly be coming to assist Qin Jun?
Although they could not hear Qin Jun’s voice, they heard Elder An’s loud and clear, deliberately torturing Qin Jun in front of the whole city; alas, his purpose was not achieved.
"Who is Lei Zhenzi?"
"Not sure, he seems to be calling His Highness ’my lord’..."
"Just from the sound of his voice, you can tell he’s no ordinary man, maybe we are saved..."
"Could it be yet another powerful warrior under King Yue?"
"How many powerful allies has King Yue gathered after all..."
People in every corner of the king’s city began to discuss among themselves, as the invasion of the Abyss Sect had caused half the population to flee, leaving mostly civilians who could very likely end up in the bellies of demonic beasts if they left the city.
Elder An looked up, and so did Qin Jun and the others; they saw a lofty figure amidst the rolling thunderclouds, indistinct in features, but discernible as humanoid with a pair of wings. Surrounded by countless thunder and lightning, all eyes fell on him; he seemed like a god, an exalted being!
Flap—Flap—
The Wind and Thunder Wings didn’t stop flapping, Lei Zhenzi’s features obscured by thunder and lightning, but his imposing figure was chilling to behold.
He looked down upon Elder An from above and spoke coldly, "Even a demon dares to claim few rivals, truly arrogant!"
As he spoke, he suddenly raised his right hand and struck down at the demon disciples of the Abyss Sect, with thunder and lightning sweeping out like a heavenly net, catching them off guard.
Elder An’s pupils constricted; his body turned, but it was too late. One by one, the demon disciples were annihilated by the thunder, looking up it seemed as if stars were exploding. The cultivator at the Immortal Realm who was undergoing the Bone Eroding Tribulation dodged in a panic, still getting hit on the back, and screaming as he plummeted downward.
Qin Jun’s mouth fell open slightly, this powerful?
Evening Star and the others were simply stunned...
In less than the span of three breaths, over a thousand demon disciples vanished into thin air, the domineering power of a fourth-layer Golden Immortal Realm on full display, instilling fear.
"Who are you?"
Elder An asked in a grave tone, feeling a pressure that made his soul tremble emanating from Lei Zhenzi, causing him to break out in a cold sweat on his forehead.
Could it be that he actually was under Qin Jun’s command?
Impossible!
How could this insignificant brat possibly have such a strong subordinate?
"Today, you must die!" Lei Zhenzi, high above, looked down indifferently at Elder An, his arrogant tone causing Elder An to bristle with rage.
He turned abruptly, intent on seizing Qin Jun first, when another bolt of mysterious thunder came crashing down, even splitting his ghastly mask, scaring him from advancing further.
This mysterious thunder was clearly no ordinary bolt; he could feel that if it struck him, he was in for dire consequences.
Qin Jun looked disdainfully at Elder An, laughing, "Do you regret not killing me sooner?"
"I’m sorry, but it just so happens that I have someone stronger than you at my disposal."
Elder An nearly exploded with rage upon hearing such provocative words. He longed to kill Qin Jun, but he had to suppress this killing intent due to concerns about the Torch Dragon.
Evening Star and the others continued to stare at Lei Zhenzi in the sky, the figure resembling a demon god making their hearts pound with fear.
When had Qin Jun acquired such a powerful follower, and furthermore, managed to keep them hidden from discovery?
With a boom!
Lei Zhenzi suddenly landed between Qin Jun and Elder An, the mysterious thunder dissipating as his two zhang tall, towering figure stood like a hillock in front of Qin Jun. The Wind and Thunder Wings unfurled, his red hair flowing in the wind, and a Golden Staff appeared in his hand, gleaming ominously.
Elder An took an involuntary step back, flipping out a copper bracelet which was the very one that had previously drained the Torch Dragon.
"This subordinate, Lei Zhenzi, has arrived late, please forgive me, Your Highness!" Lei Zhenzi said in a deep voice, his eyes flashing with green light as he stared intently at Elder An. His face was blue as indigo, his hair as red as cinnabar, eyes bulging, teeth protruding beyond his lips, terrifying and horrendous. His iron armor paired with the Wind and Thunder Wings made him appear like an Asura emerging from hell.
Even Elder An, accustomed to countless demon kings and formidable warriors, couldn’t help but gasp. In a grave voice, he asked, "Who exactly are you, are you from the Human Clan?"
Lei Zhenzi’s appearance was indeed not human-like.
A Golden Immortal Realm warrior—such people were so few in the Southern Domain that Elder An recognized them all, hence his suspicion that Lei Zhenzi was not from this region.
"It’s fine, you’ve arrived just in time. Cripple him for me, and force him to hand over my Torch Dragon," Qin Jun sneered. As he spoke, he retracted the bloodstained and dusty purple-gold Emperor Di armor, his white clothing now stained red. He seemed to relax, his legs wobbling, nearly collapsing, had Daji not supported him in time.
"Alright!"
Lei Zhenzi let out a thunderous shout, deafening even to Qin Jun, who cursed inwardly at the man’s excessive excitement.
Elder An retreated in terror, but Lei Zhenzi was not going to let him escape. Wielding the Golden Staff, he charged at his foe. The speed was so great that the ground where he had stood erupted into a pillar of dust.
On Earth in Huaxia, Lei Zhenzi was known as the god of thunder. Although he was not included in the Investiture of the Gods, his body was sanctified, making him incredibly powerful.
Of course, here the term sanctified did not imply achieving sainthood, but rather that his Vajra body had reached an extremely high level, not far from being indestructible and immortal!
With a swing of his staff, the sound of wind and thunder exploded!
While still nearly twenty meters apart, the torrent of mysterious thunder woven with Lei Zhenzi’s power surged towards Elder An. Unable to dodge in time, Elder An quickly raised the copper bracelet in defense.
Boom—
The torrent smashed into the ground, shattering it, the shockwave visibly sweeping out in all directions. It affected an area of a kilometer; had it not been for Evening Star and Sha Wujing shielding him, Qin Jun would certainly have been blown away. In the face of such immense power, no one could stand firm, and everything within a two kilometer radius centered on the two fighters was flattened.
As the blinding light faded, there stood Lei Zhenzi, holding the Golden Staff with one hand, above Elder An who was half-kneeling. At this moment, half of Elder An’s mask had fallen off, his face full of terror, his body shaking uncontrollably.
Lei Zhenzi, a body cultivator with boundless strength, had made it impressive for Elder An to have blocked his attack at all.
"Where has your previous arrogance gone?"
Lei Zhenzi looked down at Elder An, his towering form exuding a commanding presence. His terrifying eyes emitted a compelling killing intent, causing Elder An to avert his gaze.
"Are you declaring an unending feud with our Abyss Sect?"
Elder An gritted his teeth and asked. Lei Zhenzi’s words were, in essence, trampling on his dignity, yet he was helpless and could only threaten Lei Zhenzi with the might of the Abyss Sect.
He had indeed reached the Golden Immortal Realm, but only the first level. His previous ease in overpowering Red Boy was due to his treasured copper bracelet.
Lei Zhenzi’s Golden Staff was in no way inferior to his copper bracelet.
