The Strongest Mythical Emperor -
Chapter 240: Birth
Chapter 240: Chapter 240: Birth
Two days had passed, and Black Dragon Kingdom was in a state of panic due to the death of Mo Qilin. Even the war against Qianyue Kingdom had been forcibly halted.
Because Yuguan City saw the emergence of a terrifying army known as the Dragonrise Corps, along with several of Qin Jun’s powerful subordinates, and with the sole Transforming Void Realm expert, Mo Qilin, dead, the Black Dragon Emperor naturally did not dare to continue his military campaigns for fear of angering Qianyue Kingdom and being invaded by the Dragonrise Corps.
Of course, the news of Mo Qilin’s death was sealed off and had not been leaked out from within Black Dragon Kingdom. To prevent the spies embedded by various countries in Black Dragon Kingdom from transmitting the news back, the Black Dragon Emperor even deliberately fabricated false news that Mo Qilin was still alive. For a time, a storm seemed imminent in Black Dragon Kingdom.
Elsewhere, at Divine Beast Lake.
At this moment, all the cultivators were standing nervously beside the lake. They watched as the lake surface beneath the waterfall was covered with a brilliant radiance of seven-colored light, dazzling to the point of bewitching those who beheld it.
Qin Jun’s eyes were wide open as he watched this scene because the Divine Beast egg was about to hatch!
He had been waiting here for many days and finally, the time had come!
"Wujing, as soon as the Divine Beast hatches, make your move to prevent it from being eaten by that demon beast," Qin Jun instructed. After waiting so many days, if the Divine Beast were eaten by a demon beast, wouldn’t he be distraught to death?
"I’ll go down. My transformation technique is very exquisite; that demon beast definitely won’t notice me," offered Red Boy, volunteering himself.
After a moment’s thought, Qin Jun nodded. After all, the Divine Beast egg was some distance away—what if Wujing was also too late to act?
With his approval, Red Boy leaped forward, diving into the lake like a fish.
Every power was focused on the splendor of the seven-colored light; no one noticed Red Boy’s entry.
After a stick of incense had burned, the Divine Beast egg still had not hatched, and Qin Jun’s excitement began to wane. Out of boredom, he couldn’t help but look over at Jiang Ming and his four tense companions, who resembled lottery players anxiously awaiting the draw, which he found amusing.
"Hey, why did you come here? Don’t tell me you also want to snatch the Divine Beast?" Qin Jun asked curiously. With your meager skills, you think to snatch a Divine Beast?
Regaining his composure, Jiang Ming replied with a light laugh, "Why not?"
He speculated that there would be a fierce struggle at Divine Beast Lake. Although his strength wasn’t top-notch, there might still be a chance to seize an opportunity.
The allure of a Divine Beast was just too strong; to tame one as a battle pet could not be any cooler!
Of course, if this Divine Beast was already mature and incredibly powerful, then Jiang Ming was merely there to watch the excitement. But seeing that the Divine Beast had yet to hatch stirred his heart into a rapid beat.
"Cheer up. If you don’t snatch it, you don’t deserve to be called Qin Jun’s brother, and I’ll look down on you," Qin Jun said with an encouraging smile, causing Jiang Ming to twitch at the corner of his mouth.
Daji and the others couldn’t help but smile helplessly. Jiang Ming was quite unlucky to have run into Qin Jun, who just had to toy with him to death!
"Hmph!"
Jiang Ming huffed displeasedly and stopped paying attention to Qin Jun, but in his heart, he bore a grudge against him.
He had come to realize that Qin Jun was nothing but a smiling fox, seemingly always complimenting him but actually mocking him.
And yet, he would never have surmised that this very person was the one he incessantly referred to as his sworn brother.
Time quietly passed.
Approaching noon, the seven-colored light beneath the waterfall began to grow brighter, and the water in the nearby lake started to churn.
Rumble rumble—
The sound of thunder boomed, and the cultivators subconsciously looked up to see rolling thunderclouds sweeping in, as if a storm was about to arrive.
"It’s about to be born."
Qin Jun murmured, worthy of being a Divine Beast, its birth summoned a heavenly tribulation, naturally extraordinary!
Boom! Boom! Boom—
Thunder roared continuously from the heavens, striking the surface of the great waterfall and causing splendid sprays of water to burst forth. As the sun was obscured, the colorful glow below grew even more brilliant, ethereal as a painting. The lake at the center began spinning, quickly forming a vortex with a diameter of ten meters that continued to expand.
A roar, resembling that of a dragon or elephant, faintly emanated from the lake, quickening the heartbeats of the cultivators around.
The Divine Beast was about to be born!
The figure in a straw raincoat had, at some point, flown above the treeline, gazing down at the vortex below the waterfall, his dread-inspiring face displaying a tinge of excitement.
Just then, a giant egg emerged at the center of the vortex, standing one meter tall with white shell covered in golden runes, which were most shocking because they seemed alive, rotating on their own.
With a bang, a deep-red monster burst forth from the waters of the lake. It was twenty meters from the Divine Beast’s egg, conveniently avoiding the relentless descent of heavenly thunder.
Twenty meters was not a great distance for the deep-red monster; it could cross it in the blink of an eye.
Once the Divine Beast hatched, it would strike with lightning speed and swallow it in one gulp!
"Eliminate the monster first! Don’t let it wait for the Divine Beast to be born!"
Someone suddenly exclaimed, clearly perceiving the deep-red monster’s intent, for the greed in its eyes was all too apparent—it wasn’t there to protect the Divine Beast but to devour it!
As the voice fell, cultivators from the Golden Elixir Realm and above rose from the lakeside, flying from all sides toward the deep-red monster, including the figure in the straw raincoat.
He couldn’t defeat the deep-red monster on his own, and neither could the others, so they had to join forces, all the while vying for the Divine Beast.
Compared to the deep-red monster, the cultivators were no threat to him at all.
"Kill it!"
"What’s a monster king? Together, we’ll slay it. Even if we can’t snatch the Divine Beast, it will make for a fantastic tale!"
"Haha, this is my first time fighting a monster king!"
"Attack!"
Golden Elixir Realm cultivators and Ascending Mortal Realm cultivators from all forces launched their attacks, their dazzling spiritual powers converging on the deep-red monster, creating a spectacular scene paired with the thunderclouds above.
Qin Jun sat cross-legged by the lakeside, resting his hands on his knees, quietly watching the battle unfold before him.
"You guys wait here, I’m off to join the battle!"
Not far away, Jiang Ming drew his longsword and said with a smile, before soaring off like an exiled immortal toward the deep-red monster, leaving his three companions in awe.
Qin Jun couldn’t help but sneer dismissively, without saying a word.
"Scram!"
The deep-red monster roared furiously, its massive body churning the lake waters. A tide of red demonic power visibly swept out in all directions, scattering the cultivators’ spiritual energies. The power then landed on them, causing them to vomit blood and fly backward.
"Foul beast! Cease your arrogance!"
The figure in the straw raincoat bellowed angrily, wielding his black ruler and charging towards the deep-red monster. Splashes from the lake hit him but were repelled by a shield of white mist. His speed was incredibly fast, like a streak of light hitting the deep-red monster. The black ruler pierced into the creature’s body, blood spraying out, the pain causing the monster to rage with a fearsome killing intent in its eyes.
At the same time, bolts of lightning struck the Divine Beast’s egg, creating a crack at the top that gradually spread downward.
With a thud, the figure in the straw raincoat was sent flying by the deep-red monster, traveling nearly five hundred meters before coming to a halt.
Qin Jun’s eyes suddenly widened, not out of shock at the power of the deep-red monster, but because the thunderclouds above the waterfall had mysteriously filled with figures in black robes, who hung silently below the clouds. If one didn’t look closely, they would be difficult to spot.
