Chapter 1252: Chapter 1252 Bodhi Makes a Move

Boom—

The earth crumbled continuously under the force of Sun Wukong and Huo Zhenyu’s magic powers, flattening mountains and dividing rivers as if the apocalypse had descended.

Qin Jun and others floated in the sky, protected by the magic power of Patriarch Bodhi, unharmed, with countless flying rocks outside their protective barrier.

"How powerful is this old Taoist, exactly?"

Ji Bubai glanced at Patriarch Bodhi and wondered to himself.

Patriarch Bodhi used to be insignificant in his eyes, but after Qin Jun’s assistance, he had far surpassed Ji Bubai.

This left a bitter taste in his heart.

He had been scheming to have Qin Jun help his cultivation leap forward but, due to pride, couldn’t bring himself to ask.

Little did he know, even if Qin Jun were willing, he couldn’t help him.

Because he wasn’t a God and Demon!

Sun Wukong and Huo Zhenyu transformed into two streaking meteors, flying through the sky and burrowing into the earth, unstoppable. Majestic mountains, firm ground, and surging rivers appeared fragile before them.

The Chaos Golden Cudgel and the Bullhorn Golden Staff clashed incessantly, creating countless afterimages. Sun Wukong possessed immense strength, but Huo Zhenyu, who had also begun as a physical cultivator and later learned many spells and divine powers, trusted his own strength most. Unfortunately, he struggled immensely against Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong raised the Chaos Golden Cudgel high, which stretched nearly ten thousand zhang, smashing dominantly onto the ground, breaking the earth’s surface in two as the soil and rocks billowed as if the entire planet had been split by his strike.

Huo Zhenyu, wielding the Bullhorn Golden Staff, swung laterally with power, stepping through the void and crossing thousands of meters to face Sun Wukong, aiming the staff at his cheek as if to burst Sun Wukong’s head. However, Sun Wukong’s exceptional battle talent allowed him to dodge easily.

Clang—

Sun Wukong half-turned, smashing the Chaos Golden Cudgel onto the Bullhorn Golden Staff, causing the surrounding space to twist violently.

Had they been in the outside universe, the stars would have shattered under their power.

But this was the Eight Wilderness!

Sun Wukong had a special trait of growing stronger the longer he battled. Initially evenly matched with Huo Zhenyu, it wasn’t long before he began to overwhelm him.

"How is this brat getting stronger and stronger?"

Huo Zhenyu’s eyes widened, filled with bewilderment and fear.

Sun Wukong, however, grew more exhilarated, calling out in excitement, much to the discomfort of Huo Zhenyu.

"Sun Wukong is truly a genius in battle!"

Houtu exclaimed, worthy of being the protagonist of the Journey to the West’s Great Tribulation, practically unbeatable post-ascension.

True Person of the Jade Cauldron nodded, which caused Yang Jian to purse his lips with envy, yet the gap in their realms made him no match for Sun Wukong.

Qin Jun smiled, "My Sun Wukong, naturally, must be powerful."

Watching Sun Wukong in his arrogant pose, Tathāgata felt a complex surge of emotions. The once playful subject had become an existence he looked up to. How could his feelings not be mixed?

With a crash!

Huo Zhenyu plummeted like a meteor, smashing into the depths of the earth, vanishing from sight.

Sun Wukong didn’t stop; he flipped his body, grasped the Chaos Golden Cudgel with both hands, and stabbed downward. The staff rapidly expanded like the Sea-Calming Sacred Needle used by Dayu to control the floods, pacifying the raging seas.

The earth, as if made of paper, was effortlessly pierced by the Chaos Golden Cudgel, which drilled into the ground.

Huo Zhenyu, rapidly descending through the soil and not yet having stabilized, was run through by the Chaos Golden Cudgel, spitting blood.

"Damn it!"

Enraged, Huo Zhenyu, a holy sovereign, found himself overpowered—this was undoubtedly the greatest humiliation for him.

Boom—

Surging mana burst from within him, shattering the surrounding mud, his body turned to gold, and seemingly more robust by several measures as he rushed out from the earth with the Chaos Purple Gold Rod atop his head.

Sun Wukong was sent flying into the sky, burrowing into the rolling thick fog by the sudden eruption of Huo Zhenyu’s power.

"Your Majesty, do you need my assistance?"

Li Yuanba itched to join the fray and could not help but volunteer to Qin Jun.

Qin Jun waved his hand and said, "This isn’t something you can contend with!"

Li Yuanba immediately felt deflated but had no arguments to offer, as the strength displayed by Huo Zhenyu was indeed beyond his capabilities.

Looking around, it seemed the entire world had been destroyed by Sun Wukong and Huo Zhenyu; yet in reality, it was but a speck of the Eight Wilderness.

The towering Chaos Purple Gold Rod suddenly contracted as if disappearing into thin air; then Sun Wukong followed with a somersault, thrust his legs fiercely, turning into a sharp arrow as he swooped down again towards Huo Zhenyu.

Huo Zhenyu, too, had his fighting spirit and blood ignited, and he bellowed, "I haven’t had such an exhilarating fight in a long time, dare to declare your name!"

"Supreme Heaven Great Sage—Sun Wukong!"

Sun Wukong brought his rod down with a smash, expending his full power, holding nothing back; Huo Zhenyu lifted his Bull Horn Gold Staff only to have it knocked from his grip with a clang, smashing him towards the ground.

Seeing the battle unresolved in the short term, Qin Jun spoke, "Bodhi, seize him."

As his voice fell, Patriarch Bodhi instantly vanished from his spot.

In the next second, he appeared behind Huo Zhenyu. Just as Huo Zhenyu, shaken by Sun Wukong, prepared to ascend, he suddenly felt a murderous intent from behind him, causing him to swiftly turn his head in panic.

At that moment, Patriarch Bodhi’s Dust Brush quickly enveloped him, cocooning him like a silkworm chrysalis, leaving him unable to move.

Seeing Patriarch Bodhi take action, Sun Wukong quickly called out, "Master, what are you doing? I haven’t finished fighting yet!"

Patriarch Bodhi rolled his eyes, too lazy to pay attention to his disciple and, with Huo Zhenyu wrapped up, presented him before Qin Jun, dropping him on the ground.

Everyone was astonished; Huo Zhenyu had seemed formidable, yet Patriarch Bodhi had captured him with ease—what was the extent of the gap between them?

Ji Bubai and Dead Path exchanged glances, both seeing the shock in each other’s eyes.

If they were not mistaken, Patriarch Bodhi must have surpassed the realm of a saint and attained an even higher realm.

Lin Yuqi’s beautiful eyes widened, taking a long while to recover, wondering if even the sacred lords are powerless before Qin Jun.

She found it hard to imagine whence Qin Jun and his companions came.

"You..."

Wrapped in the Dust Brush, with only his head exposed, Huo Zhenyu looked at Patriarch Bodhi with a mix of shock and anger.

He could not accept this fact; he had been captured, and without a chance to resist!

Though he was terrified by Patriarch Bodhi’s strength, more than that, he felt indignant, thinking Patriarch Bodhi had resorted to a sneak attack.

Patriarch Bodhi ignored him, quietly waiting for Qin Jun to interrogate Huo Zhenyu.

Qin Jun looked down at Huo Zhenyu and quietly said, "Tell me, where is the deity Houtu?"

Such was the tragic end of a great saint, sorrowful and lamentable.

Qin Jun did not know of Huo Zhenyu’s identity, so he did not give it another thought; he only wished to find the whereabouts of Houtu.

"How could I possibly know where the deity Houtu is? If I did know, would I still be alive?"

Huo Zhenyu hissed in frustration as he struggled in vain.

Just then, from afar, three figures approached rapidly, their presence furious, although not quite as imposing as Huo Zhenyu, yet still bearing the dignity of saints.

The leader was a skeletal figure clad in a black robe, emanating a chilling gloom; although the two figures at his side were human in shape, their skin was deathly pale, without pupils, their eyes a ghastly pale, quite frightening.

"Kekeke... the scent of the living!"

The black-robed skeleton sneered, clearly no benevolent being.
