Chapter 402: Chapter 402: Very Evil Thoughts
Qian Shujuan found Cao Bencong’s words increasingly reasonable the more she thought about them.
If Wan Yuwei and Hou Haoyu couldn’t be together, it would indeed be a huge loss for both families.
"I’ll give Yuwei another talk. On your end, make Haoyu take the initiative."
"No problem!"
Once the matter was settled, Cao Bencong left.
That noon, Hou Haoyu went to the county police bureau to invite Wan Yuwei out for lunch.
After being rejected, he waited for her after work that evening.
However, Wan Yuwei was noticeably fed up with his pestering.
"There’s no possibility between us. Just give up already!"
Hou Haoyu remained resolute. "I don’t believe you truly have no feelings for me anymore. You’ll change your mind, won’t you?"
Wan Yuwei couldn’t be bothered to respond and went straight home.
Qian Shujuan barely managed to persuade Wan Yuwei with a few sentences before the typically obedient daughter suddenly exploded like a powder keg.
"I’ve already told you—I don’t like Hou Haoyu! If you keep pushing me, don’t expect me to ever come back!"
With that, Wan Yuwei stormed into her room in a huff.
Seeing her daughter’s firm attitude, Qian Shujuan frowned deeply.
In the days that followed, Hou Haoyu showed up at the county police bureau every day looking for Wan Yuwei.
This wore her patience thin.
Forced into a corner, she finished her work hastily and sent a message to Chen Bin.
"Darling, Hou Haoyu keeps bothering me every day. Think of something to help me, quickly!"
Soon, Chen Bin replied.
"What’s your mom’s stance on this?"
"She obviously hopes I’d reconcile with Hou Haoyu, but I’ve made up my mind—I’ll never have anything to do with him again!"
"So, you’re determined to break things off with Hou Haoyu, right?"
"Yes."
"Alright, leave this to me."
After putting away his phone, Chen Bin sat in his office, contemplating for a while before seeking out Hou Haoyu.
"How are things between you and Wan Yuwei now? Is there any chance of reconciling?"
Hou Haoyu let out a heavy sigh, his face drained. "Looking at things now, it’s hopeless—80% hopeless at least."
"We have such a close bond—I don’t want to see you down in the dumps. How about I offer some advice?"
Hearing this, Hou Haoyu immediately perked up. "You’re willing to help me?"
"Of course, I can help—but this requires careful planning. How about we hit the city tonight, blow off some steam, and come up with a way for you to win Wan Yuwei over once you’ve got your head sorted?"
"Well..."
Seeing that Hou Haoyu was about to refuse, Chen Bin quickly added, "I’ll pay!"
"Alright, then I’ll go call others!"
Back in his office, Hou Haoyu immediately contacted Gu Bei and the others.
They all agreed to join, saying they were free that night and up for some fun.
After work that evening, Chen Bin and Hou Haoyu waited at the bus station, where they happened upon a woman.
She appeared about twenty-four years old, standing around 1.6 meters tall.
Her looks were on par with Wan Yuwei’s, but her shapely figure—especially her round hips—clearly surpassed Yuwei’s.
Upon seeing her, Hou Haoyu took the lead to greet her.
"Kexin, heading to the city too?"
The woman smiled and nodded. "Yeah, my husband’s not home tonight. I thought I’d hit the city for a stroll."
"Why not join me? Chairman Chen and I are heading out to meet Gu Bei and the others for dinner."
"Sure!"
The woman nodded with a smile that revealed a charming little snaggletooth.
Next, Hou Haoyu introduced her to Chen Bin.
The woman’s name was Wu Kexin, an employee at the county’s HR department. She had always been good friends with them, frequently hanging out together.
Chen Bin welcomed her warmly, saying the more people, the livelier it would be.
While outwardly friendly, a sinister thought suddenly sprouted in his mind.
After getting off the bus, they met up with Gu Bei and the group.
Once everyone had gathered, they went to a fairly upscale restaurant and booked a private room.
After ordering, Chen Bin seized the moment when Hou Haoyu went to the restroom to address the group.
"Haoyu’s been feeling lousy lately because of Wan Yuwei. I brought him out to cheer him up—so no one mention Yuwei’s name tonight. Just get him drunk—there’s nothing a drink can’t cure!"
Gu Bei and the others nodded, agreeing without hesitation.
When the dishes and drinks were served, and after Haoyu returned, the group began eating.
Taking note of Chen Bin’s instructions beforehand, everyone made concerted efforts to toast Haoyu.
Haoyu raised his glass without hesitation, promptly emptying it each time.
By the end of the dinner, nearly everyone had had their fill of drinks—the only exception being Chen Bin, who barely drank at all.
His position afforded him some immunity, as no one dared to coax him into drinking.
After paying the bill and leaving the restaurant, Chen Bin turned to Wu Kexin and said, "My pockets are too shallow; my keys keep falling out. Mind holding onto them for me?"
Without hesitation, Wu Kexin nodded. "Sure, but remember to ask me for them before you head out—I’m afraid I might forget."
"No problem!"
At this time, Yin Tong suggested heading to a karaoke lounge, but Tang Zhuqing dismissed the idea.
"KTV every time—boring! Let’s hit a nightclub for some dancing instead!"
Though already tipsy, Hou Haoyu perked up at the mention of dancing, nodding enthusiastically.
"Dance... dance!"
Seeing his enthusiasm, the group had no objections.
After all, this outing was funded by Chen Bin—where they went didn’t matter.
The group hailed two taxis and followed GPS directions to a nightclub.
Upon entering, they seemed to step into another world.
The place was filled with deafening music, and countless young men and women swayed wildly to the beats.
The decadent scene of indulgence was laid bare.
They secured a VIP table, at which Haoyu ordered several premium liquors and drank alone.
Meanwhile, Gu Bei and the others dove straight into the dance floor, gyrating enthusiastically.
Chen Bin, seeing Wu Kexin beside him, spoke up loudly, "Do you find this fun?"
She raised her voice to reply, but the music drowned her out. Chen Bin couldn’t hear a thing.
Undeterred, he continued, "Let’s play cards. Losers drink!"
"Sounds good! How’s it played?"
Chen Bin caught her reply this time.
"Each person draws a card from the deck. The one with the lower number drinks."
Finding the rules straightforward, Wu Kexin agreed.
As they played, the two alternated between losing and winning, consuming considerable drinks.
But given Chen Bin hadn’t drunk much earlier, Wu Kexin eventually couldn’t keep up.
Just as she wanted to stop playing, Chen Bin insisted they continue.
Left with no choice, Wu Kexin reluctantly kept playing.
Eventually, she collapsed onto the table and fell asleep amidst the pulsating music.
When Chen Bin glanced over at Hou Haoyu, he saw him sprawled on the sofa like a lifeless heap—a bottle of foreign liquor half-consumed—completely unresponsive no matter how much he was shaken.
After two hours, Gu Bei and the others, exhausted from dancing, finally proposed leaving.
Seeing that it was late and both Hou Haoyu and Wu Kexin were heavily drunk, Chen Bin suggested finding a nearby hotel to rest.
Gu Bei and the group nodded in agreement.
At a hotel near the nightclub, Chen Bin booked five rooms.
Gu Bei and Tang Zhuqing shared one, while Yin Tong and Li Jia shared another.
The remaining three individuals each got their own room.
After helping Haoyu to his room and laying him down, Chen Bin pocketed the room card as he left.
Spotting Tang Zhuqing and Li Jia leaving Wu Kexin’s room and preparing to shut the door, he interjected, "Hold on—I think my keys are still in Kexin’s bag."
Ordinarily, it wouldn’t be appropriate for a man to rifle through a married woman’s belongings.
But Tang Zhuqing and Li Jia, weary from dancing, promptly yawned and pointed at the room for him to proceed as he wished.
Once inside, Chen Bin turned on the lights.
Approaching the bed, he gently nudged Wu Kexin. "Kexin, my keys are in your bag, I need to take them back."
With her eyes tightly shut, her faint snores revealed she wasn’t waking anytime soon.
Taking a deep breath, Chen Bin unzipped her bag.
After retrieving the keys, he switched the lights off again.
On his way out, he discreetly removed the room card from its power slot...
