Chapter 21 Su Ming’s Heaven-Defying Move! Well Done!
Ye Chen’s voice carried a tone of venomous resentment. He had once been a favored son of heaven, blessed by destiny, truly extraordinary. Though he had encountered numerous setbacks on his cultivation path, on the surface, he always managed to turn danger into safety.
In reality, he had never suffered any major defeat. As a result, he had always maintained a positive and confident attitude. But this blow came too suddenly and heavily—his power was crushed, friends and family scattered—It was too much for Ye Chen to bear all at once, and even his temperament began to distort.
“The most important thing now is to find a way out of here…”
Ye Chen looked around. The abandonment of his inner palace wasn’t a fatal blow to him. After all, he still had the Divine Talisman Stone Tower. As long as he had a bit of spiritual energy, he could use the tower’s miraculous abilities to heal his injuries. The problem was that he was currently bound by the Flame Jade Chains and couldn’t channel any spiritual energy.
“Am I really destined to be trapped here?”
Ye Chen’s expression flickered with uncertainty.
Just then, the sound of light footsteps echoed—Ye Chen’s eyes narrowed, and he quickly turned his head. In a corner, a slender figure cautiously poked her head out.
“Y-Young Master?”
It was a girl of about fourteen or fifteen, plain in appearance, her eyes red from crying. She hurried inside.
“Ling’er?”
Ye Chen was stunned.
He recognized this girl. Back when he left home and was taken in by the Cangyun Dao Sect, he hadn’t gone alone. A maid named Ye Ling had accompanied him—this was her.
Ye Ling was from the main Ye family and had served Ye Chen since childhood. She had long held feelings for Ye Chen and remained deeply loyal.
Ye Chen naturally understood her affection. Their relationship had once been close. But after entering the Holy Land and broadening his horizons, especially after meeting Cangyun beauties like Qin Yingluo, his thoughts changed, and he gradually distanced himself from Ye Ling. The last time they met, he had even called her “little sister” to comfort her.
Ye Chen, previously consumed by rage, had forgotten he still had someone loyal to him within the sect.
“Ling’er!”
“Why are you here?”
Ye Chen was both surprised and delighted.
Ye Ling, clearly struggling to withstand the searing heat of the flame pit, was drenched in sweat.
“Young Master, you’ve suffered…”
Seeing Ye Chen’s condition, her eyes turned redder.
“I’ll help you right now.”
She stumbled forward, but the moment she touched the Flame Jade Chains, she was burned by the heat and cried out in pain.
“These chains are imbued with earth fire energy—your cultivation is too low, don’t touch them.”
Ye Chen quickly warned her.
“T-Then what should I do?”
Ye Ling looked lost and helpless.
“There’s a way.”
A glimmer of hope flashed in Ye Chen’s eyes.
“I need something to restore my spiritual energy—elixirs, spirit herbs, anything!”
“As long as I recover even a sliver of power, I can break these chains and regain my cultivation!”
“Something to restore spiritual energy…”
Ye Ling looked troubled.
She was just a maid. Though she cultivated, she hadn’t even reached the Spirit Sea Realm. She had no real standing in the Cangyun Dao Sect.
When Ye Chen was powerful, people respected her out of courtesy to him. But now Ye Chen realized this too, and his expression darkened.
Though Ye Ling was loyal, she was simply too weak.
Even low-grade spirit-restoring pills and herbs weren’t things she could easily obtain.
Damn it!
If it were before, even if Ye Ling begged for it, elders of the sect would rush to offer their help with flattery. But now, no one would help him without something in return.
“I have an idea.”
Ye Chen’s expression changed repeatedly. After a moment, he gritted his teeth and made a decision.
“I’ll open my mouth—pull out one of my upper teeth.”
Though Ye Ling was confused, she followed his instructions.
“This is a ring?”
She looked at the small object in her hand—a delicate little ring.
“Hmph, when the Cangyun Dao Sect imprisoned me, they searched me thoroughly. But they didn’t know I had hidden my jade ring here.”
Ye Chen looked proud.
“It’s a storage ring. Take it to Elder Yu at the medicine hall. You must exchange it for a spiritual energy-replenishing elixir!”
Ye Chen’s expression turned serious. This was his only hope. The ring contained all the treasures he had collected from recent adventures—an incredibly valuable trove. Unfortunately, without spiritual energy, he couldn’t access its contents himself. Otherwise, he wouldn’t need outside help.
“It doesn’t matter. As long as I can recover my power and escape, it’ll all be worth it.”
“My Divine Talisman Stone Tower is hidden within my body.”
“As long as that’s safe, I can give up everything else!”
Even so, pain flickered across Ye Chen’s face. The ring didn’t contain the Stone Tower—but it did hold…
A Divine Talisman!
The Extreme Ice Talisman.
He had only refined about 30% of it, yet even that portion held terrifying power, impossible to resist. But since it wasn’t fully refined, it couldn’t be stored in the Stone Tower.
“Fortunately, only someone with the Divine Talisman Stone Tower can use it.”
“Even if that elder gets it, it’ll be useless junk to him.”
“One day, I will take it back with my own hands!”
Ye Chen clenched his jaw.
“Young Master, don’t worry. No matter the cost, I will get you out of here!”
With Ye Chen’s repeated instructions, Ye Ling’s gaze was full of determination. Tears in her eyes, she looked deeply at him one last time before turning and leaving the flame pit.
One incense stick’s time later—Su Ming toyed with the ring in his hand, smiling down at the kneeling Ye Ling in front of him.
“You did well.”
“Thank you, Young Lord.”
“This is for you.”
Su Ming casually tossed her a jade bottle.
