Chapter 205: Conquering (2)

Chapter 205: Conquering (2)

The survivor camp that was established by Sebastian was located in the southwestern part of the city. Currently, they were facing a large number of zombies that continuously attacked them.

It might be true that those people that had not yet awakened had suddenly become bronze rank awakened, but, not all of them had gotten combat professions. After all, there was even a farmer that was at the bronze rank.

But, the bronze rank did not imply that this person actually possessed incredible combat capabilities. Instead, they possessed other special skills and abilities that were only good at farming.

Even though it was true that they possessed greater strength than an ordinary person, but still, when it came to fighting, their abilities were limited. So, currently, Sebastian who had been in charge of many people was forced to exert a lot of his strength when dealing with the large number of zombies.

Everything had happened so abruptly. He himself had not been expecting that there was going to be something like this that was going to happen. After all, over 80% of the total population of the people that he was in charge of had suddenly become zombies.

And, the moment that they became zombies, they began attacking the people that were close to them. And, these people had not been expecting that there was going to be a zombie that was going to attack them, considering that there was always a group of people that was in charge of patrolling, ensuring that no danger reached those survivors.

But, in no time at all, due to the chaos that had erupted, added to the lack of visibility, together with the attack of the monsters that prevented those that were skilled enough to come over and deal with the zombies, the number of people that this base possessed continuously decreased.

Initially, the total population of the people here was about 270,000. This was a great population that Sebastian had managed to take in together with the team that he was in charge of.

With over 80% of them turning into zombies, that implied that the number of zombies was over 200,000. Although the group was strong, but, in front of such an overwhelming force, several people that had already become mutant warriors were also bitten or scratched by the zombies, making them zombies as well.

And, the moment that they became zombies, they became a little stronger than the normal zombies. Although they did not possess the initial strength that they had, but still, they were way stronger than the other zombies that had just been turned.

Still, Sebastian was from the military. So, he had managed to isolate the people that had not yet become zombies from the group of zombies. Then, ignoring the fact that using firearms would not enable them to level up, they began using the firearms that they had secured from the police stations within the southwestern part of the city.

And using the firearms, they were able to barely contain the zombies. But, it was just that the ammunition was going to be consumed if they continued attacking at this rate. So, Sebastian had no choice but to decide to act personally.

Still, he did not recklessly charge into the group of zombies. Instead, he began luring them in small groups that were easily taken care of. And, in order to make sure that was possible, they had taken a place that was narrow, allowing only a small number of zombies to approach them.

All of this happened after the red mist had disappeared, and they had regained their vision. But, at this point, nearly half of the 20% of the remaining population was already turned into zombies, or had already been torn into pieces.

Although Sebastian was angry, there was nothing that he could do in this situation, other than just try to survive. After all, even he himself, although he was currently at the third level of the bronze rank, if he was even for a moment reckless, then, he was going to die.

It was a good thing that both the monsters and the zombies also began attacking each other, relieving the pressure that Sebastian and his group were undergoing.

But, all of that was just momentarily as for some strange reason, the monsters that had attacked suddenly retreated. And, with the retreat of the monsters, the zombies finally focused on Sebastian and his group. They themselves could not retreat from this part of the city because they were completely surrounded during this entire time.

Additionally, they could not use any vehicle considering that currently, the entire terrain of the city had been changed. All the roads had been destroyed, and it was going to be difficult for them to be able to find any that was usable.

Still, they managed to hold on for a few more minutes. It was just that, the energy that they were using was also getting consumed. And, due to the fact that the zombies that they were killing were low level ones, the recovery rate of the energy could not match up with the consumption rate.

It was clear that it was not going to be long before they were overwhelmed by the zombies. But, just as a group was getting desperate, an explosion suddenly sounded.

What then followed was another valley of explosions that occurred one after the other behind the group of zombies that was on one of the two sides that they were being attacked from.

Although the zombies always followed either the scent of a human, or the sound, they mainly focused on the sound. So, due to the explosion, the majority of the zombies within the alley that was created by collapsed buildings immediately began retreating, heading towards the source of the explosion.

Due to this, the pressure that Sebastian and his group were experiencing also reduced again. Sebastian took this chance to relax a little. But still, he did not lower his guard, considering that he did not even know what was going on.

After several explosions, there was a moment of silence in that direction. As for Sebastian and his group, they were currently dealing with the remaining zombies from the other direction.

Then, after about 2 minutes, they realized that there was something that was approaching them. Although the Jeep did not produce a loud engine roaring sound, but still, the sound could be heard by Sebastian and his group who had already become awakened.

Sebastian’s eyes suddenly squinted as he looked at the Jeep. Although he was not that much sure, but, he guessed that he had gotten a glimpse of this Jeep being located within a certain territory that he was forced out of not long ago.

Before he could even understand what was going on, or who it was that was within the Jeep, the Jeep once again attacked.

Of course, Henry who had arrived together with Jasmine and the group targeted the zombies from the furthest end. Since Henry was capable of seeing the situation surrounding the Jeep, he was therefore able to target the zombies as long as there was even a small path that was opened.

After continuously attacking, only a small number of zombies remained. And, Sebastian and his group deftly dealt with them.

The moment that the zombies were dealt with, the group finally collapsed onto the ground. After all, they had overexerted themselves this time. Additionally, it was also during this time that the adrenaline had worn off, telling them that they were tired.

Sebastian on the other hand approached the Jeep. He felt grateful that the owner of the Jeep had saved them. Currently, the number of humans that were remaining from his survivor camp was actually just a puny 3,000 people or so.

But still, it was better considering that currently, had it not been for the assistance that they had received, then, they would have been eliminated.

As Sebastian approach too, the doors of the Jeep opened, and Henry and the rest of the group stepped out. Sebastian was momentarily stunned after realizing that it was Henry who had come to their rescue.

He could not help but feel a little embarrassed remembering that he had actually gone to Henry’s territory, claiming that Henry was a traitor of the human race. But, now, Henry was the one that had saved them.

"Thank you." Although he felt a little uncomfortable, Sebastian put away his pride and sincerely thanked Henry.

"There’s no need for that. Anyway, I did not do this for free." Henry responded as he waved his hand.

Henry’s response dumbfounded Sebastian. He could not understand what Henry was trying to imply.

"The only reason I saved your group is simply because I’m looking for subordinates." Henry stated after he saw the expression that was on Sebastian’s face.

Sebastian on the other hand could understand what Henry was implying. But, wasn’t what he was saying normal? After all, in this apocalypse, the most important resource for the human race was actually the humans.

At this point, Henry had already shifted his focus from Sebastian and looked at the group behind him. He was a little surprised after realizing that there were several people that did not possess the combat professions, but still, they were actually in the Bronze rank.

Although he was surprised, he did not show much on his face. He looked at Sebastian and said, "I’m going to establish something like a new government. So, are you willing to join?"

It might be true that strength was required in the apocalypse, but, strength could not always solve everything. So, currently, if there was a good and simple method that he could gain control of Crystal City, then, Henry was going to take it.

Sebastian frowned. He might have actually gotten out of the army for some time now, but, he was still patriotic. So, how could he allow someone to start a government of his own? Wasn’t that the same as rebellion?

"Are you trying to rebel against the national government?" Sebastian asked as he stared at Henry.
