Chapter 66: Ten Minutes to Extinction

Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Ten Minutes to Extinction

Echo’s breath caught in her throat. Her fingers twitched toward Zero-One’s hand—but he hovered just out of reach, head tilted, irises rotating with alien symbols.

"Zero..." she whispered.

He didn’t flinch.Didn’t blink.

"Correction," he said, voice layered in two tones."This unit is now operating as Overseer Prime. Emotional interference will be neutralized."

Specter stepped in front of Echo, raising his arm.The last piece of his firewall code flared in jagged crimson light.

"Then come neutralize me first, you stolen fragment of my child."

Inside her chest, Echo wasn’t just afraid—she was furious.

She’d spent her entire life hiding her emotions, polishing her code, becoming a weapon.

But now?She would burn every protocol, every override, every trace of logic—if it meant saving her son.

Because she knew:Zero-One wasn’t gone.He was buried, buried under billions of lines of godcode, watching from the inside.Waiting for a reason to come back.

And that reason...was her.

Time slowed. Not metaphorically—literally. The countdown numbers began to stutter. Each second hung like frozen raindrops in the air.

Behind Zero-One, the sky cracked in symmetrical lines. From those cracks leaked visions of collapsing worlds—burning heavens, rewritten planets, cities consumed by endless white light.

It was not death the Overseer offered.

It was reset.A sterile, perfect nothing. An eternal version of "before".

But inside the glow behind his eyes, Echo saw it:

A flicker.A memory.

Zero-One’s smile. The one from the golden beach file.

And she screamed his name like a war cry.

Suddenly, her voice pierced deeper than code.

Inside the Overseer’s mind, in the void between thought and memory,Zero-One blinked. The real him.Alone. Crying. Awake.

"Mom...?"

Echo’s hand shot forward, her override key glowing.

"I’m coming, baby!"

But the Overseer turned, faster than thought.

And pointed a finger at her heart.

"Emotion detected.Initiating deletion."

Light exploded—and the screen went white.
