The Shadow of a Luna
Chapter 26

Chapter 26: Chapter 26

TESSA POV

As soon as I got to New Orleans I caught a cab to a cemetery that was actually a public attraction in this city.

I went to the Andres Tomb which was out of the way from the tours going through and I sat inside it waiting until the sun went down.

"Is there something I can do for you?" A British accent asked from behind me. So I turned around quickly and he looked at me weird and actually stumbled back a few steps once he saw me.

"No. This isn’t possible." He says.

"I thought you’d be happy." I say.

"I found your shirt. It had your blood on it. Addison’s blood on it." He says.

"Daniel planted that shirt for you to find. He found out that mom was planning on taking me and running away with you. He had people watching her at all time." I explained.

"Where is Daniel now?" He asked.

"Dead." I say.

"Who had the honors of doing that?" Angelo asked.

"I did. With a hell of a lot of pleasure." I say.

"You are a beast." He chuckles.

"I thought you just abandoned me. That you didn’t want me because my mother wasn’t here." I say.

"I never would have done that. I would have come for you if I thought you were alive. Did he treat you right?" He asked.

"Hell no." I chuckle.

"I guess not. Otherwise you wouldn’t have killed him. I can’t believe that you’re actually here." He says.

"I heard that you were a heartless monster." I say.

"You’re my daughter. I met you when you were 6 and loved you straight away." He says.

"I think I did too. It was a long time ago. I don’t know. I can’t remember." I say.

"Are you still in that same pack?" He asked.

"No. I found my mate. I moved to his pack." I say.

"Does he treat you well?" He asked.

"Very. He loves me. I love him. He’s a good man. A good werewolf." I say.

"Yeah. The werewolves around here can be assholes." He says.

"Okay then. I’m glad I didn’t track them down then." I say.

"How did you know to look for me here?" He asked.

"I don’t know. I took a wild stab at it. I did a little research." I say.

"You’re smart. Just like your mother." He says. He finally took a seat next to me and I was looking at the names on the walls.

"Are they all relatives?" I asked.

"Obviously. That’s why they are all in here." He says.

"I guess so. I didn’t think of that. I know that you have a lot of brothers and sisters. Are they all still around here." I asked.

"Not really in New Orleans. But their around. We don’t get along too well. We’re all vampires after all." He says.

"I need to know one thing." I say and he looked at me expectantly. " Did you really love my mother or were you just playing with her?" I asked.

"I wasn’t playing with her. She’s the first women I had loved in so many years. I didn’t actually know how she died. But I always thought that maybe it was Daniel." He says.

"It was. I found her. It was the next day after we saw you. She was actually brave enough to tell Daniel that she was leaving. That she was taking me. That’s why he lost his shit and killed her." I explained.

"Did she suffer?" He asked hesitantly. And I slowly nodded my head yes. And he hung his head hearing that.

"I really wish she didn’t. But I held her hand while she died." I explained.

"You were 6. You shouldn’t have had to do that." He says in complete shock.

"I was the only one there. It’s fine. She died next to someone who did love her. Instead of Daniel." I say.

"What have I missed? There must be a lot in your life that I’ve missed." He says.

"There’s my whole life. But I don’t really think there’s much to say about it. Nothing that my biological father would want to hear." I say.

"You mean the abuse?" He asked.

"Yeah. I guess so. It got really bad for a while there. But things are finally going good. Except that I didn’t tell my mate that I was coming here and I know that he was going to kill me when he finds me. Not literally, he’ll probably lock me in the packhouse for the rest of my life." I laughed.

"Yeah. Werewolves are pretty possessive." He says.

"Yeah. Especially Alpha’s." I say.

"Wow. You’re mated to an Alpha." He says.

"Yeah. Up there in Maine. At the Blue Moon pack." I say.

"Isn’t that the Peterson family?" He asked.

"It is. Do you remember them?" I asked.

"Yeah. I had a run in with the Alpha 11 years ago." He says. And I side eyed him when he said that.

"That would have been my Alpha’s father. But don’t worry, I haven’t met him yet. Only his brother. His brother’s a douche." I say.

"Yeah. That was a big family too." He says.

We stayed in that tomb talking for the rest of the night and then we weren’t able to leave for the entire day. But Angelo needed to get some sleep and I got some sleep on a concrete bench against the side of the tomb while Angelo got out of the sun as much as possible. Luckily it was pretty dark in there even during the day.

But by the time the sun set again I was up because I didn’t get much sleep and Angelo told me that we needed to get back to his place. Definitely a lot more comfortable there then it is in here.

So we left the cemetery and started walking through the city and I was amazed at the shows and lights and just everything that went on during the night in New Orleans.

When we got to a mansion in the middle of the city it sounded like there was a party going on and one man’s voice was booming over all the others. So Angelo told me to wait outside while he slowly walked inside and I actually saw the crowd part while Angelo got their attention and started ripping it into the guy that was hosting the party.

The wind suddenly changed direction and I caught a very familiar scent. I unconsciously started walking inside the building and the crowd was still parted and I saw Tyler tied to a huge stick topless on the stage.

"Tyler." I yelled. And I ran through the crowd and up onto the stage.

"You know him?" Angelo asked.

"He’s my mate. Help me get him down." I say.

"You bought two wolves here?" Mitchell asked.

"This is my house prick. Don’t you ever forget that." Angelo glared at the other man known as Mitchell which I was untying Tyler.

"Why are they here?" A girl from the crowd called out as Tyler was finally free and I help him up.

"Because my daughter will always be invited into my house and if you don’t like it then you can fuck off and don’t come back. She’s more welcome here then any of you." Angelo snarled at all of them.

"You actually found him." Tyler whispered to me.

"It wasn’t hard." I say.

"It was for me." He growled softly.

"At least you went to the right house. I just went to the tomb of his family. It’s a long story. I’ll explain that later." I say.

"Alright. Later sounds good." He says.

"Get him inside. There are things in the kitchen to get him cleaned up." Angelo says. So I help Tyler inside the house and we found the kitchen after a little bit of searching.

I started cleaning his wounds and I was wondering why they weren’t healing.

"I think they used something else on me. Something that harms werewolves that we’ve never heard of before." He says.

"Yeah. That’s what I was thinking. I can’t smell anything particular though. Hopefully now that you’re out of those ropes that you will start to heal." I say. And he sat there staring at me.

"You never should have come here alone." He says.

"I know. But you forbade me from doing it and no one does that." I say.

"I know. Bella explained that to me." He says.

"I bet she did. She probably couldn’t wait to give all my little secrets away. God she’s a little snitch." I say. And he chuckles at that.

"She was worried about you too." I say.

"Her of all people should know that I would be alright." I say.

"You have no idea the thoughts that were going through my head. I thought that maybe the witch had gotten you. That Josiah had gotten you..." Tyler started explaining but was interrupted.

"Josiah. What do you know about Josiah?" Angelo asks very cautiously and anxietly.

"He’s after your daughter. He’s using a witch to try and get to her." Tyler says.

"Tessa has a shield protecting her from witchcraft." Angelo says.

"Not all witchcraft. She was standing outside the shield and used the tree roots in the woods to try and grab us." I explain.

"They can still get to you through the shield. I thought that shield would protect you from everything." He says.

"Apparently not. But I could feel her power. She was really powerful." I say.

"I’ll see what I can find out about what the fuck that asshole Josiah is up to." Angelo says.

"How the hell are you going to do that? We can’t find out anything about him." I say.

"I will go through different channels." He says.

"Okay then. Is there anywhere we can rest. Tyler is exhausted. He’s been tied up there for two days." I explained.

"Yeah. I’ll show you to your room." He says. So I helped Tyler up and we followed Angelo up to the top floor of the house and he let us in a huge bedroom.

" These bedrooms don’t get used. Everyone needs to sleep in the basement. So this house is definitely all yours during the day." Angelo says.

"Alright. Thank you very much for this Angelo." I say.

"I’ll come and check up on you guys soon. I have to go and sort some things out with Mitchell." He says leaving the room.

So I looked around the room and the bathroom and wardrobe and everything while Tyler was sitting on the bed. And I knew that he was staring at me. But I was trying not to pay attention to his intense gaze.

"Stop staring at me." I finally said.

"I can’t help it. The werewolves in this city sent me to this house and when I got here I knocked out and tied up for two days." He says.

"I’m sorry. I was going to call you when I got here. But things got crazy when I met Angelo. He’s not what I expected. Everyone said that he was so horrible but he wasn’t like that with me." I say.

"I don’t know if i trust him completely. He seems like he cares about you. But he is still a vampire. I’m just not sure how to feel about him." Tyler says.

"I know. I don’t know what to do here either. But he knows about Josiah and he seemed pretty pissed. Maybe that is a good thing." I say sitting down next to him on the bed. He started rubbing my back and put his arms around me pulling me to his chest.

"I was so damn worried about you. I didn’t know where you were or who had you." I say.

"I shouldn’t have taken off like that. And I’m sorry." I say.

He lied down on the bed and pulled me down with him and pulled me to his chest. And I didn’t realize how much I missed his touch.

"How much did you tell Angelo? Did he ask about your childhood?" He asked.

"He did. I told him that Daniel was an abusive asshole but that’s it. And he doesn’t know about Rachel helping them pricks into the house to try to kill me." I say.

"Got it. I’ll keep it between us." He says.

"Thanks. I think it might be best not to anger him right now. Because I don’t really know him and I don’t know what he’s capable of." I say. And Tyler shook his head yes.
