Chapter 18: Chapter 18

"I said, what the fuck are you doing here Adam?" Tyler growled out with a really pissed off look on his face. I stood next to the stairs with Aria and Bella while Cade and Carter were just behind us.

"Oh shit." Cade muttered.

"Is something wrong?" I asked.

"Well, things are about to get a whole lot more interesting around here." He answered.

"Cade, Carter. I can’t believe you are still here serving my brother. I thought you would have bailed years ago. How the hell have you been able to put up with him for so long?" Adam asked.

"It’s pretty easy when you’re not around." Carter replied.

"And who are these lovely ladies?" He asked looking us three up and down.

"Off limits." Cade growled.

"Oh. Their mates. Gotcha. But what about you blondie? How serious are you about your mate?" Adam asked approaching me and he reached out and stroked my hair. And within a second Tyler had him by the throat and slammed him against the wall next to us.

"Oh. I probably should have mentioned that I was Tyler’s mate." I say casually while Adam was having trouble breathing. _{f\r(e)ewe.b no\vel.com}

"Alright. I’ll stay away from her. I promise." Adam choked out. And Tyler let him go.

"You still didn’t tell me why you are here." Tyler says as Adam regained his exposure.

"Well, maybe it’s because I have nowhere else to. Mother and father don’t want me to home anymore. they think I am a bad influence on our sister." Adam says.

"Well, they’re not wrong there. Weren’t you in college?" Tyler asked.

"Yeah. I kinda got kicked out. I honestly didn’t mean to burn down the gym. It just kind of happened." Adam says.

"Well, you’re not staying here. We’ve got enough to deal with without you causing shit around here." Tyler says.

"I promise to be on my best behavior. I’m telling you the truth. I have nowhere else to go. I’m your brother Tyler." Adam said seriously.

"Fine. But you’re sleeping on the bottom level of the house." Tyler ordered.

"Isn’t that where the help and the warriors live?" Adam asked.

"We don’t have any help here and the warriors have moved out once their own houses were built. So, you’ll be the only one down here." Tyler smirked at him. He then put his arm around my shoulder and led us all back to the library in the house.

I sat on the couch and opened the computer again and I started looking through some other passages on the computer while Tyler was flicking through a book.

"So, you have never once mentioned your family to me." I say casually without looking up from the computer.

"Yeah. And you just met the reason why." Tyler says.

"He looks like a fun character." I smirked.

"He’s a jerk who thinks the whole world is a joke. And watch out for his pranks." Tyler says and I snapped my head up quickly.

"He plays pranks on people?" I asked.

"Uh-oh." Bella says from behind us. And Tyler saw me smiling widely at him.

"Can you do anything bad enough to get rid of him?" Tyler asked.

"Not sure. I’ll have to get to know him a little bit before I can determine what I can do to him." I say.

"You have my full blessing." Tyler says leaning over and kissing me. And I looked back and Bella with a huge smile and she hung her head shaking it.

"You were right Carter. Things are about to get a whole lot more interesting around here." Bella says.

Adam then came into the library and saw all of us on either a computer or sifting through books and stopped at the doorway.

"God, what a bunch of nerds." He says.

"Go find something else to do Adam." Tyler says.

"There is nothing to do around here. I’m bored shitless." He says.

"Go into town. I’m sure you can find some more helpless unmated females around somewhere." Tyler says.

"Why the hell would you unleash him on those innocent girls?" I asked in moch horror and Tyler smirked at me.

"You’re right. You’re banned from leaving the packhouse." Tyler says.

"Bullshit. See ya." Adam says running from the library and we heard the front door slam shut.

"Thank you. We actually work good as a team." Tyler says and I smile at him.

"He seems like a douche." I say.

"He’s 19 and thinks he’s gods gift to women. He stakes out more than he gets lucky." Tyler explained.

"Not in this pack. All he has to do is mentioned that he’s your brother." Aria says.

"I know. I just sent out a mind link to the whole pack. Watch out for my little arrogant brother roaming around town." Tyler laughed. And so did the rest of us.

"At least you’re one step ahead of him." Aria says.

"Why do you hate him so much?" I asked.

"That’s a story for another day." Tyler says looking away.

"No. That’s a story for tonight while we’re alone." I said coldly looking straight at him.

"Alright. I will tell you tonight." He agreed. I didn’t want their to be any secrets between us. And Goddess knows, he knows everything about my family.

After sending Adam off to town I realized that I am sitting here trying to find out everything I can about my real father who isn’t even here and I don’t even know my own pack. The pack the I will lead one day. Tyler told Cade that if he died in the battle against Matthias and Daniel that I was to be the Luna, no matter what. But I don’t know this pack. I’ve been here a couple weeks now and I’ve only stuck to my own group of friends. That’s not what a Luna does. And now I was going to have to change that. I needed to change that.

That was my next mission. I needed to get to know my pack. And I was going to do it as soon as possible.

After dinner that night I headed upstairs to have a shower and get ready for bed and Tyler wasn’t too far behind. As soon as he got out of the shower he saw me sitting on the bed waiting for him.

"Well. I want to know everything." He says. So he took a deep breath and exhaled and then sat down next to me.

"I am the oldest of seven. Me, 25, Melody, 22, Adam, 19, Liam, 18, Emily, 14, Madison, 12 and Skylar, 11. Adam has always been jealous because he thought he could take over as Alpha better than I could. But I was given this pack when I turned 20 and he was only 14. That’s when my parents moved the kids away to get them away from the hectic pack life. They are still part of this pack, but they live away and lead normal human lives. Adam always hated that." Tyler explained. " Sometimes he would actually ’accidentally’ let his claws slip of a patch of fur slip just to upset everyone’s lives because mom and dad would have to move away. He was a real pain in the ass. And he’s only gotten worse as he’s gotten older." Tyler continued.

"Well, like I said he looks like a douche. But that doesn’t tell me why you were so pissed that he was here." I say.

"Adam has always tried to take what was mine. From the time he was old enough, he always tried to take what was mine. And my first girlfriend definitely fell into that category and she was more than willing as well." He says.

"Your brother slept with your girlfriend?" I asked.

"Yeah. For two months before I found out. And that was after I was Alpha. She still lives here in the pack. But I obviously refuse to talk to her and I’ve seen her looking at you with envy." Tyler admitted.

"Hold up. Rewind. Rachel just tried to have me killed. Do I need to be worried about the ex girlfriend?" I asked and he started laughing.

"Absolutely not. She pissed off the Alpha and was demoted to omega status." He says.

"Wow. Don’t piss off the Alpha." I smirk. And he leaned forward and kissed me and bit my bottom lip as he pulled away.

"You can piss me off as much as you want." He flirted.

"Men. Always trying to get into a women’s pants." I scoff.

"I would never." He says in mock shock that I would say that.

"Well, it sounds like he’s just trying to get to you. Do I need to be the buffer between you two so you don’t kill each other?" I asked.

"No. I don’t want you anywhere near him." he says.

"Okay. Did your parents even tell you that he was coming here?" I asked.

"They probably don’t even know where he is. I’ll call them tomorrow. Just to make sure that what he told me was the truth. Knowing him, it wasn’t." Tyler says lying down.

"Why would he lie about burning down a gym and getting kicked out of college?" I asked confused.

"That’s one thing that I cannot explain. He will lie about anything and everything. Probably to make himself seem more badass then what he really is." Tyler says pulling me down to him and I rested my head on his chest.

We were lying there for a while when we heard the front door slam open and Adam was laughing with some girl and it travelled all the way upstairs. And were all the noises that they were making downstairs.

So I got up and went to the banister and looked down the three flights to the foyer.

"Oi. You better not be fucking on the same table that we eat breakfast on." I yelled from the third floor. And then Adam and a girl came into view.

"You’re not even the Luna and you’re trying to tell me what to do." Adam yelled. He was obviously drunk. But the girl stood in front of him.

"Sorry Luna. We’ll go to his bedroom." She says.

"Thank you." I said and I turned back to the bedroom and Tyler was laughing his ass off at me. But I just stood there and stared at him.

"I think you’re the only person I’ve met that is as straight forward as Adam. You might actually be a good match for him. Put him in his fucking place." Tyler said laughing.

"Well, I will definitely try." I admit as I climb back in bed.

"Who’s the girl that he’s with?" Tyler asked.

"I have to be honest. I don’t know. We never had that pack meet and greet. So, I don’t really know too many people around here. I was just thinking that today." I say.

"Alright. We need to fix that." Tyler says.

"I intend to. Don’t worry about that." I say.

So the following morning I woke up again before Tyler and I got dressed into black and red tights, a red sports shirt, a sweater, socks and sand shoes.

I ran the territory again while I saw the patrols out but I stayed in away from the boarder and again I could only do one lap. I was feeling completely useless. I was doing better than this while I was training with Tobias. I was getting frustrated with myself.

When I got back to the packhouse I got a bottle of water out of the fridge and I started towards the stairs but I heard someone talking in the other room. So I went around beside the stairs and it was Adam. He was talking on the phone to someone, but I couldn’t hear who was on the other end.

"I told you that you will get what you want...I only just got here yesterday and you know that my brother hates me...it will take time for him to trust me...I know that. I will get it to you as soon as I can...my parents kicked me out so they won’t help me...I need to get my brother on board, but things are more different than I thought...you were right about Tessa, she is going to be a problem...well, she’s stronger than what you led me to believe...she’s not the weak depressed little wolf that you told me she was, she’s getting better every day...I know what I promised and you will get it. It will just take a little more time than expected. I will call you when I have more information about the situation. Don’t call me again, it’s too risky." Adam said and he hung up the phone.

I then snuck back to the stairs and ran up them, making sure that I missed all the squeaky ones until I got to the bedroom and Tyler was again just waking up.

"Hey, I told you to wake me so we could jog together." He says sitting up.

"Maybe I just enjoy the quiet time." I say.

"Did you see the patrols? I told them to keep an eye on you while you’re jogging. Especially in the woods with what’s been going on." He says.

"Yes. They were watching me. Listen, I’m gonna have a shower and I am going to head into town today. I think it’s about time I met a few of my pack members. I hate not knowing who anyone is. Especially if I am going to be their Luna." I explain.

"That sounds like an awesome idea. I’ll come with you. It’ll be easier if I make the introductions." He says.

"No worries." I say as I go to the bathroom.

I have a shower and I get dressed into a nice red halter top, jeans, black boots and a black jacket.

When I walked out of the wardrobe Tyler whistled at me and I tell him it was only to make a good impression. They will see me a lot worse than this at times.

When we went downstairs to have breakfast Adam was sitting at the table with everyone else telling embarrassing stories of Tyler from when they were growing up. Obviously trying to embarrass him but I sat there eating my food trying to forget what I heard this morning.

I was glad when it was time for us to leave and I was standing at the table in the foyer making sure that I had everything in my bag while I was waiting for Tyler and Adam walked over to me.

"So, the happy couple are spending the day together. Isn’t that sweet?" Adam asked mockingly as he strolled over to me.

"What would you know about being sweet?" I snapped back.

"Ouch. You do have a little bite on you, don’t you?" He asked.

"Yeah. A lot more than you realize. Especially now that I’m not the pathetic depressed little wolf that you were made to believe that I was." I growled staring him straight in the eye.

"What?" He asked looking a little pissed off.

"Whatever you’re doing here, I suggest you forget all about it. Or I tell Tyler what I heard you say on the phone this morning. Because I doubt he is going to want you here if it means endangering my life. Again." I say starting to walk away but he grabbed my arm in a death grip and I couldn’t get it out again.

"You listen to me you little bitch. I’m here for one reason, and one reason only. And if I fail then I am dead. So I would much rather it be you then me. And I always get what I want." He says trying to stare me down but I smirked at me.

"Is that why you’re Alpha of this pack?" I asked. And he growled at me. He was then ripped away from me and thrown across the room.

He looked up to see a pissed off Tyler glaring down on him and he tried to stand up but Tyler forced him back down.

"What the fuck is going on?" Tyler asked.

"Would you like to tell him? Or should I?" I asked.
