Chapter 181: Necessary Meeting

Chapter 181: Necessary Meeting

Rory stopped seeing the guards by the door. She turned to see both Liam and Ellie both asleep. She stepped out and closed the door.

"Take me to that guy," she said.

The agents who were on guard duty looked at each other and shrugged. "We are under strict orders to guard you, ma’am. We cannot let you~"

Before they finished, Rory walked out.

"Ma’am, you cannot wander around like~"

"I am not wandering. I told you. I am going to talk to Lennon. Now," she stopped and turned to look at them. "If your instruction is to guard me, guard me," she said and turned swiftly.

She then sashayed through the hallway.

She knew how she was treated by those "guards" till then. They treated her as a superior maybe because she is Agnes Roberts’ granddaughter. Little did they know...

But as long as it benefits her, she can do what she wants to do. And right now, she needs to meet with Lennon. She cannot simply stare at the floor all her life wondering what Lennon is hiding.

She was scared. What will she do if he says that the dark figure she saw in her nightmares was actually him?

She increased her pace not listening to the agents. They were saying that she was going in the wrong direction. But she was listening to Derick and Liam talking. She knew in which room Lennon is kept.

Lennon was guarded more preciously than her. Apparently, his life was in danger on many fronts as this is a very high-profile case. Rory could only scoff seeing how criminals get more protection than innocents.

But hey, that’s the way of the world. What can she do about it? And she too has the privilege that is her being Agnes Roberts’ granddaughter.

"We cannot let you in!" the agents by Lennon’s door stopped her.

"Okay," she said and pushed through. When an agent tried to grab her hand, she screamed her heart off. He let go of her hand immediately. But they were blocking her not letting her in.

"Has he said anything?" she asked. She knew he didn’t, and they know that they need his confession for the last nail in the coffin. She saw one of the agents sneaking past behind the corner with his phone.

She smirked confirming her belief that it was Derick who is stopping them from getting her to Lennon again. Even after all this, she didn’t even doubt her grandmother’s scheming behind all this.

"I can open his mouth. He’ll talk to me. I know he is asking for me," she stopped the guy who was going to tattle. "What do you say?"

"But we are under strict orders to~"

"What will happen if he slips? Don’t you want him arrested? Do you think any one of you can stop me from talking to the press outside?" she smirked.

She wanted to talk to Lennon. And she will. She didn’t want anyone to stop her. She didn’t want her family to know that either. Especially Liam.

She tried. She tried her best. She even told herself that he is nothing like Lennon. That’s why she said it to him. Not to convince him, but to convince herself.

But he is! He is Lennon’s son. Even the shape of their eyes was the same. it was weird that she never figured it out till then.

Maybe because she thought that he was his uncle. But... It’s all weird. And screwed up.

She couldn’t even face Liam anymore. She could see that he was hurt by her keeping her distance. But she couldn’t put herself to be near him. When she thinks about him and when he is not near her, she could feel the same love she had for him. But when he is near, all she could see was Lennon’s son.

And Ellie... Her poor baby...

Please no... Please...

She wanted to squat and wail as she thought about the weird doubt rising in her heart. She did not want that to be true.

She heard someone talking that they found trace amounts of a cocktail of drugs in Allison’s system. They said that those drugs would render them unconscious and, in most cases, would cause amnesia. More like date r2pe drugs.

She wondered if Lennon ever tried that on her and that’s what the nightmare, she kept on seeing was about.

She could not talk about her doubts with anyone. They will try to silence her and won’t even let her talk. Liam definitely won’t. He doesn’t want to talk about what happened in the house. He wouldn’t want anything to change between them. He said that much.

But it had changed. They are not who they were a week back.

And then when everything settles, she will watch him retracting himself from her. He won’t stay with her. He is not one for sharing. To be honest, who will want to share their wife with their father?

That’s insane!

She let out a sigh. The thoughts that are plaguing her mind these days are so vulgar and dirty. She hated herself. She didn’t want to live in this body anymore.

Who wants beauty? I just want peace!

The agents didn’t want to let her in still. "I need answers," she looked at them and her eyes watered. "He... after everything...I just want to..."

When all else fails, tears would help. Especially, the tears of a good-looking woman. She never thought that she was "that" pretty. She knew she was pretty, but making a serial killer getting obsessed over her pretty... She definitely didn’t think that was the case.

"I have a baby to look after. And I have to move on. I can’t keep on hanging over what was left unsaid. You can check me. You can be with me when I talk. I am not going to hurt him. I just want to talk..."

She tried to convince them. She got happy seeing their concerned face. They were eating up her acting. One of the agents, who probably was their boss, nodded at them and they formed a pathway for her.

Rory took in a deep breath and stepped inside the room.

"I knew you’d come to me, little rose," Lennon said. He was smirking and picked up a roasted cashew from the bowl beside him.

Are they giving him cashews to snack on?

Rory scoffed.

"They gave me almonds first. But I knew not to eat them. What if it was bitter?" he smiled widely.

"Bitter almonds are good for health, Lennon," Rory said. Eat them and die!

Her entire body stung as she looked at him. Although she was covered up, she felt naked in his presence.

His eyes...

She dared not to look at them.

"Are they?" Lennon asked and pointed at the chair beside him. "If you give them, I will gladly eat them with no regrets. You have permission to kill me," he said.

"And why is that?" Rory did not want to get closer to him. She stood at a distance watching his hands.

"Because we have formed a bond over the years," he said. "Although you wouldn’t probably not know it."

"Stalking me?" Rory asked. She hoped that was all. She saw one of the agents showing a recording device. She nodded and the agent started recording after getting her permission.

"Stalking?" Lennon laughed. "Why don’t you come sit by my side, Rory? You did promise me a dinner together? Can’t you?"

"You know I lied, right?" Rory smirked. "Oh, poor Lennon. Or did you...Oh dear, you thought that I was interested in you? How stupid of you!"

She gritted her teeth.

"You thought that I would even think of actually flirting with my husband’s father?" she scoffed.

"Did the Count’s son help you?" Lennon asked. His smile was still not fading.

"You’re not that smart, are you?" She said. She did not want to answer him. She wanted to get answers from him. And for that he needs to get provoked. Nothing will provoke him as comparing him with Liam.

"If not for my husband, your company wouldn’t have seen the growth you’ve seen the past year. I checked the market stuff... There was a five hundred percent improvement in your company’s profit and my husband’s company was the reason.~"

Before she could finish, Lennon shouted. "He’s not the mastermind! I am! Even before he was there, I was doing fine. I just threw morsels at him like the dog he is and how dare you to say that he was the one..."

He stopped seeing that Rory was actually liking that he is getting mad.

"Your husband... You keep on saying that he is your husband. Is he though?" Lennon smirked. The smile on his face was no more and his eyes glittered in the warm table lamp beside him.

"He is my husband. Then what else is he? Unlike you, he did what he did to have me. He had me first. You... you were the pathetic loser who searched for my shadows and killed them for not being me. Liam... He is the man. He is my husband and he is the father of my baby. You... You failed!" She smirked.

Lennon laughed holding his stomach.

Rory’s hands went cold. She knew this is the moment of truth.
