Chapter 112: Still In Her Clutches

The moment Megan saw Derick, she started to shout and scream profanities at Rory.

*Slap*

Without saying anything, Rory slapped her. Megan trembled and started scrubbing the floor. Derick said that it was the first time he saw a real expression on her face--fear.

Derick only then noticed that Rory’s hands were as red as Megan’s cheeks. And the living room looked messed up as if there was a scuffle. Derick guessed that there was a fight, and obviously, the winner of the fight was Rory.

Rory did not leave immediately and tried to reason with Megan. Megan was hurt, or rather her pride was hurt. She kept on blaming Derick for abandoning her to get bullied by his cousin.

He did feel pity for his wife mostly because he was conditioned to think that his wife was pitiful by his wife.

But as he tried to make her understand his feelings, he saw that she was not willing to listen to him. She mocked him for being a man and having feelings.

When he voiced his frustrations with her behavior... that’s when the ugliness inside her reared its true form.

She started to blame everything on Rory and called her names. He could not accept that, and the next thing she did was blatantly blamed him for cheating...with Rory.

He could not accept the way that woman described why he is "attracted" to Rory, he was utterly disgusted.

He brought up divorce.

She seemed to be behaving after he brought up divorce, but he didn’t think she was silently executing her plans. But when he was home, she would treat him with respect, she started to share household chores.

Derick believed that she had turned a new leaf. And so when she asked him if she wanted to visit her parents for a week with their son, he agreed.

But she played him.

She accused him of violence and others who "witnessed" how Derick was an abusive man supported her.

He was disoriented.

Everything she said was exactly the opposite of what happened. Everything she did was mentioned in her complaint as he was the perpetrator. She knew what she was doing to him and did it anyway and she had the galls to tell everyone that he was the one who mentally and physically abused her.

And she was believed. Her (fake)tears melted the hearts of everyone and he was looked at as if he was a criminal.

Derick almost sank to depression then.

He didn’t elaborate on how he got out of it, but he told Julia that Rory was his support during that time.

He almost lost his job. And he had no solid proof against her. He lost the custody of his son to her.

And the funny thing is that woman still smiles and talks to him as if they are friends.

And she still has the gall to ask shamelessly for Derick’s money for the sake of Ryan.

Julia hated that woman.

But she has to smile and accept all that because if she does what she wants to do, then Derick might lose his right to visitations of his son.

Till now there is no proof that she is abusive to Ryan. Derick makes sure she gets what she asks for that reason.

She still has him under her claws.

It is a sad reality. Women gain more in divorce. And men mostly lose custodial rights even if they are the better parent unless the mother is extremely unstable.

And Derick might be a slave to his ex-wife’s every whim until his son becomes 18. Julia wished in her heart that Ryan could see his mother for who she is and not blame his father. She wanted him to know that his father did everything to protect him.

When she started dating and once they started talking about their past, Derick was honest with her. He said that he is not worth all trouble. He said that she could find a single man with no children and would start her own happy family.

He gave her time to think about it all. He said he would understand if she does not want to deal with a troubled man like him. "Because," he said, "I cannot give my heart for me to get more hurt. If you’re in, you should be in for a lifetime."

That’s what he said.

She knew him for three months, and that was a big decision for her to make. She asked for advice and women her age mostly asked her to steer clear of him.

But for some reason, she could not.

She thought about it. They would meet often and the more she talked to him, the more she fell in love.

Plus, he was tooo good in bed!

When he talked about his family, and when he talked about Rory, she could see the future she will have if she married him. He did say that he is courting with marriage in mind. And she knew that would come, always.

As he said, that woman tried to create trouble in their relationship. She even tried to use the little boy against her.

But she watched how Derick handed it all. And she only fell deeper for him.

She said ’yes’ to him. She told him that she is in for a life with him.

The happiness she saw on his face... She’d do anything for that smile!

She had her ways to handle all the troubles brought by that woman and her minions. Derick would apologize for the needless troubles in the beginning.

But that woman is not just his problem anymore. She is their problem. They can face her together.

Still, Derick has the bad habit of keeping his thoughts to himself. It never annoyed her. Her dad was the same way. She could understand him.

And when she talks, she listens. And that’s how she understood why he talks more about Rory. Sometimes, he does not talk about Rory although he is talking about her. He would be talking about himself. He would be asking for advice, or at times he just needs to be told that he is right. That’s all he needs to be happy. And she loves to see him happy.

And she only gives him the courage to be open with his feelings. If she does not listen to his feelings, who else would?

She has no fear of entering into marriage with him. She loved him and she knows he loves her too.

After all the pain he suffered in his previous marriage, he still had the courage and trust to ask her to marry him. He wants to make an honest woman out of her.

She considers that his biggest show of love.

And truly, she could see the similarities between his family and hers. They would get along spectacularly well.

If only Ryan could be added to the fun side... That would be better.

But...

There should be a way!

"You’re starting at me..." Derick rested his forehead on hers.

"I am...Why can’t I look at my cute future husband’s face?" Julia asked.

"Oh, you..." Derick pressed her on the tree. "You make me want to..." He hissed in her ear. "Shall we...go to our room?"

"I have no problem..." Julia slipped her hands inside his trouser. "But your grandma is calling for you..." She bit his earlobe.

"Ah..." He grunted as her hand slid over his manhood. "Come on... let’s move a bit over there and have a quickie... Jules... Please..."

Julia looked around. And then her eyes ended up on the tall man holding her with the gentlest hold. His blue eyes were begging and she wrapped her hands around his neck and hung on his shoulders.

"Those trees over there would give a nice coverage..." She whispered.

"You are amazing, babes... I love you so much," Derick kissed her neck and carried her to the farther row of trees. Her legs wrapped around his waist.

"Don’t let me scream, please..." She hissed as his hands slipped inside her shirt.

"I’ll take care of it," Derick winked and his lips crashed on hers.

"Do you hear that?" Liam asked Rory who was washing her hands. He walked to the window and opened it to look outside.

That weird sound was definitely coming from the trees.

"Hear what?" She asked. "And aren’t you going to help the others in preparing the lunch meat?"

"What help? I don’t know how to skin or fillet... What am I- Oh my God!"

He slammed shut the windows and closed the drapes.

"What?" Rory could see that Liam was shocked. "What did you see?" She walked to the window.

Liam pulled her away from the window. "Derick is having his fun time with his fiancee..." He grumbled. "You are not letting me touch you..."

"Seriously, Liam?" Rory slapped his butt.

"Hey!" Liam turned and looked at her with a frown.

"What?" Rory slapped his butt once more. "I love it!"

"You nasty little..." He pushed her to the wall and pinned her between his arms.
