Chapter 50: Chapter 50: He Felt That He Might Be Poisoned

Lu Jinghan tightened his grip on Han Xi’s hand, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips: "Hmm, that works too."

They bought a whole bag of things, and after paying, Lu Jinghan carried the bag in one hand and held Han Xi’s little hand in the other as they walked to the car.

Back at Han Xi’s place, they changed shoes at the door, and Lu Jinghan carried the groceries to the kitchen.

Han Xi walked around the house, initially thinking Li Manman would be there, and had even specially bought lots of food she liked.

Han Xi sat down in front of the sofa, took out her phone, and dialed Li Manman’s number. The call was quickly answered on the other end.

"Manman, why did you leave? Are you coming back to sleep tonight?"

Li Manman was bored watching TV at the Li Family’s old house, all because Lu Jinghan had called her in the afternoon, asking her to avoid coming back at night so as not to disturb their private time. Otherwise, why would she be stuck at home so miserably?

The more Li Manman thought about it, the more unbalanced she felt, and she spoke up angrily: "Your Mr. Lu told me to avoid you two, so where would I dare to come back?" The next second, she became excited, like she was on adrenaline: "Do you think... Mr. Lu wants to do... that, which is why he asked me to avoid it."

Even across the phone, Han Xi could imagine the sparkling look in Li Manman’s eyes. She coughed awkwardly and bit her lip, speaking softly: "Can you not always think about that? Can’t your mind be a little purer?"

"Haha, I bet Lu Jinghan definitely wants you tonight. Do you need me to come to your rescue?"

Han Xi sneaked a peek at the man in the kitchen, feeling a little nervous. If it were as Li Manman said, she feared she wouldn’t be able to handle it: "Manman, maybe you should come back."

Li Manman’s laughter over the phone was spectacular: "Alright, I’ll be back after you’ve about finished eating."

After hanging up, Han Xi got up and went to the kitchen: "Is there anything you need me to help with?"

"Help me roll up my sleeves."

Lu Jinghan was washing vegetables, the warm light casting an enticing glow on his handsome face.

Han Xi nodded, reached out, and rolled up his sleeves to his elbows: "How about I help you chop the vegetables?"

Lu Jinghan looked at her, his deep black eyes filled with tenderness: "Aren’t you tired? Go take a rest."

"Can you really manage alone?" In truth, Han Xi was quite tired, but she felt a bit guilty letting him busily work alone in the kitchen.

"Go on, I’ll call you when it’s ready."

Han Xi went back to the living room, threw herself on the sofa, and took a short nap.

She didn’t know how much time had passed, but in a daze, she felt a soft, cool touch at the corner of her lips. She opened her eyes to see Lu Jinghan’s deep black eyes, and when their eyes met, her heart suddenly started racing.

"Dinner’s ready..."

"Mmm..."

Lu Jinghan was half-kneeling on the ground, one hand supporting the sofa, the other holding the back of Han Xi’s head, greedily capturing this woman’s breath.

He felt he might be poisoned; Han Xi was like a poppy—once touched, she’d make you lose control and unable to extricate yourself.

His lips slightly parted, and his rough breaths fell between Han Xi’s eyebrows, his hoarse voice carrying an enchanting power: "Xiao Xi, I like you."

Han Xi’s heart trembled uncontrollably under the sway of his sweet words, and in the depths of emotion, her moistened black eyes shone softly.
