Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Saying you’re a beast is an overstatement

"Xiao Xi, open your mouth a little, there’s blood inside too."

Manman threw the blood-stained cotton swab in her hand into the trash can, so furious she wished she could tear that bastard Li Chenghao apart right away.

Han Xi had a bite on the corner of her mouth, and even slightly opening it tugged painfully. She frowned and endured the pain, slowly parting her lips, revealing the bitten tongue.

Manman couldn’t bear it anymore and slammed the table, standing up from the sofa: "How perverted is Li Chenghao!? To hurt you like this, I’m going to settle this with him right now."

Han Xi grabbed Manman, looked up at her, her wounded eyes desolate: "Don’t go, stay with me."

Manman felt uneasy leaving Han Xi alone, so she had to temporarily stifle her anger, planning to confront Li Chenghao after Han Xi’s mood improved a bit.

Manman sat back on the sofa. Han Xi wearily leaned her head over, her eyes brimming with misty wetness.

The two sat there quietly, neither speaking a word.

Suddenly, Manman’s phone rang from her bag. She retrieved it, glanced at the number, and angrily pressed the answer button.

"Li Chenghao, you sick pervert! How dare you do this to Xiao Xi? Did you ever consider her feelings? Calling you a beast would be a compliment. Why didn’t Han Siyu just stab you to death back then? People like you just pollute the air by living, you bastard, scum, pervert..."

Manman only stopped cursing after she was exhausted, but the anger inside her didn’t lessen at all.

On the other end, Li Chenghao let Manman curse him out completely, and only spoke after he heard no more sound on the other end: "Xiao Xi, is she okay?"

Manman let out a cold laugh: "Okay, my ass."

Li Chenghao gripped the steering wheel tighter, feeling a painful tug at his heart: "Could you tell me where Xiao Xi is? I want to see her."

Li Chenghao drove around searching all afternoon but couldn’t find Han Xi. Actually, before Manman, Li Chenghao had gone to Han Xi’s villa, but he pressed the doorbell for nearly half an hour, shouted until his throat was hoarse, and no one answered the door. He figured Han Xi probably wasn’t there.

He even went to Lu Jinghan’s house....

Manman shouted loudly into the phone, spewing words without thinking: "Dream on, Li Chenghao! Xiao Xi never wants to see you again in this life. Get as far away as you can, and disappear from her world at once."

After speaking, Manman didn’t give Li Chenghao a chance to reply, she hung up the phone immediately.

Listening to the busy tone in the phone, Li Chenghao punched the steering wheel with a clenched fist, splashing blood that dripped onto the collar of his white shirt.

Manman angrily threw her phone onto the coffee table, breathing heavily as her chest heaved in anger.

........

Now the sky outside was already dimming, the streetlights just starting to come on, cars and people bustling about.

Because it was the rush hour, Lu Jinghan’s car was stuck in traffic. At the intersection, while waiting for the green light, Lu Jinghan took out his phone from his pocket and sent a WeChat message to Han Xi.

[Mrs. Lu, I miss you. I think I’ll have another sleepless night tonight. What if I want to come to the hospital to see you?]

Han Xi looked at the WeChat message from Lu Jinghan, her smile as sweet and silly as a happy little fool.

Sitting beside her, Manman sighed: "Why not tell him? Can you really avoid it today and tomorrow? After all, your injury won’t heal in a day or two, and since it’s in such an ambiguous place, how can Lu Jinghan not overthink it after seeing it? You might as well be honest with him."
