Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Let bygones be bygones.
This was the most exhausting surgery Han Xi had ever performed. In the last one hundred and forty minutes, she was almost constantly worried that she couldn’t save this man, fearing that he would just die in front of her.
"Xiao Xi, how is it? Chenghao was saved, right?"
Han Siyu held onto Han Xi’s arm tightly, her desperate eyes struggling as if in a death throe.
Han Xi lifted her right hand to cover Han Siyu’s icy hand, gently comforting her: "Sis, Chenghao is fine now, he should wake up in about an hour."
Han Siyu was so frightened and tense just now that after hearing the news that Li Chenghao was fine, her whole body went limp.
"Sis, are you okay?" Han Xi looked at Han Siyu worriedly, helping her to sit down on the bench nearby.
Han Siyu shook her head. When she saw Li Chenghao being pushed out of the operating room by the nurse, she hurried over in a panic. Her bloodstained hand held Li Chenghao’s pale large hand, and her originally empty heart was suddenly filled.
Han Xi stood up and walked over to Han Siyu: "Sis, the nurse is taking Chenghao to the VIP ward now. He should wake up in about an hour, you should go over and stay with him."
Han Siyu nodded with tear-filled eyes, her gaze never leaving Li Chenghao.
Watching them get into the elevator, only then did Han Xi, completely exhausted, walk over to Lu Jinghan and wrap her small hands tightly around him.
Lu Jinghan also embraced the woman in his arms, his chin gently rubbing against her hair.
The embrace of this man always inexplicably reassured Han Xi. She leaned her head against Lu Jinghan’s chest: "Just now, I almost thought I couldn’t save him."
"It’s okay, it’s all over now. I’ll go with you to rest for a while."
"Mm."
Lu Jinghan held Han Xi’s hand and got into the elevator. There was no one inside, and Han Xi laid her head on Lu Jinghan’s shoulder, closing her eyes in exhaustion.
Back in the office, Han Xi intended to take a nap, but was called away by a nurse. Half an hour had passed by the time she returned, and Lu Jinghan was standing by the window on the phone. Seeing Han Xi enter, he said a few words into the phone and then hung up.
"Finished?"
Han Xi nodded, walked to his side, and greedily rested her head on Lu Jinghan’s chest: "Let’s go see Li Chenghao, he should be waking up soon."
Lu Jinghan pulled Han Xi into his arms, a faint smile on his lips: "But don’t you need to rest first?"
"It’s okay, let’s go see him first."
"Okay."
When Lu Jinghan and Han Xi arrived at the VIP ward, Li Chenghao was still unconscious. Han Siyu sat quietly at the bedside, holding his hand, looking hollow as if she were a soulless shell.
"Sis, are you hungry? I’ll go get you something to eat."
"No need."
Han Siyu turned her head, her eyes looked at Han Xi as distant and empty as a dry well, as if they were mere acquaintances.
"Xiao Xi... Xiao Xi..."
Li Chenghao, still in a coma on the bed, weakly called out Han Xi’s name, the sound pale and feeble.
Han Siyu’s hair was somewhat disheveled, and her exquisite makeup had long been ruined by tears. She suddenly smiled at Han Xi, but the smile did not reach her eyes: "Two people who were once so in love were torn apart by me. Do you guys hate me terribly?"
"Sis, I’m already married and very happy now. Let’s let bygones be bygones."
