Eric did not go back on his word. The next day, he came to the hospital early in the morning. Yuri had been discharged from intensive care and moved to his private VIP ward on the top floor.

walking into the elevator, he let out a huge sigh. ’Why did I agree to this...’

Just as he was thinking this, the elevator door that was about to close opened again, and a familiar couple stood before him.

"Oh... Mister Bai... Mrs. Bai."

Kiyuki nodded his way and walked into the elevator. "Mister Eric, can I ask you for a favor?"

"Y-yes?" Eric startled, gazing at her.

"I would like you to do a DNA test," she said, not looking his way.

"Huh?" Eric could only see her expression through the reflection on the elevator. She looked like she was holding back her tears.

"Your friend. He... he might be my son. I want to confirm that. Is it okay if we do a DNA test?"

Eric froze up. Shadow was a ghost, and his corporeal body was destroyed long back. The body he had now was cultivated with his spiritual energy and some spiritual wood he had hunted down. There would be no DNA matter for them to do any kind of testing!

"Um... tell my friend about it. C-can you tell me more about your missing son?"

"Yes!" She anxiously gazed back. "We lost him when he was just five years old. We searched everywhere but couldn’t find any clue about him. Can you please tell me about your friend, Shadow? Please."

Eric gulped. "I... I met him when he was searching for work. We... we are not that familiar, Miss Bai."

"Oh, is that so? C-can you please ask him for me?"

"I’ll ask him," Eric let out a long sigh. Even if Shadow was her son, it was impossible for them to reunite. The moment Shadow finds out that the Bai’s were his family, he will have no attachment to this world and will disappear. What will happen to his brother then? They both were a loving pair that would not separate every day. He could not bear to see his brother heartbroken.

’But is it okay for me to hide this from Shadow?’

While he was contemplating this, the elevator came to a stop on the sixth VIP floor. The Bai family came out first, followed by him. He slowed down his pace to make sure he was behind them.

’Coming here was a mistake. I shouldn’t have agreed to Yuri...’

The regret was overwhelming yet still he entered the ward with the Bai family.

Yuri smiled softly seeing his family, but when his eyes caught a small figure behind him, his smile brightened. "Eric. You’re here." He patted the spot beside his bed. "Come here."

Eric walked up to him, sighing loudly. "Sorry for intruding, Mister Bai, Mrs. Bai." He bowed to them and walked up to the bed.

"Did you have your breakfast? I can order you some."

"I had my breakfast," Eric sat down and gave out the bag of fruits in his hand. "How is your pain?"

"It’s better, but it will take a longggg time to heal," he added in a hurry.

Eyes narrowed, Eric gazed at him. "Your family is here. They will take care of you."

"No!" Yuri grabbed a hold of his hand. "You promised."

He then gazed at his family. "I have Eric to take care of me. You guys can rest assured he will take good care of me."

The Bai family instantly knew what their son was insinuating. "We just wanted to see how you were doing. We’ll get going," Kiyuki pushed her husband out of the room. "We leave him in your hands, Eric. Thank you so much for taking care of that unfilial son," giggling, she ran out of the room.

Yuri victoriously glanced at Eric’s way.

Eric glared at him. "You’re deceitful."

Yuri leaned his head against his bent knees. Eyes narrowed, he looked his way. "What can I do? The guy I like always runs away from me. I would physically tie you to me if I can. But I like you too much to do that."

His piercing gaze was too much to handle.

Eric looked away, clearing his throat. "What help do you need?" He noticed that Yuri was wearing the same clothes as yesterday. "Do you wish to change?"

"First, I’ll get discharged. Then I’ll have a bath back at home."

"Home?" Eric’s eyes widened. "I thought I was taking care of you here."

"The bathroom is unsanitary," Yuri said, raising his brows.

Eric scoffed and walked to the bathroom. It was squeaky clean and looked brand new. "This?"

"Yes," Yuri quickly sat up and struggled to lean down to put on his shoes. "I’m not taking a bath in there."

"You can only take a towel bath," Eric walked up to him and helped him wear his fluffy shoes.

Yuri pulled his legs back and hissed when he moved his casted leg. "It’s okay; you don’t have to."

"Stop moving around," Eric glared up at him and helped him wear his shoes. "Did you call your driver, or should I drive?"

"I called a driver," Yuri said, gently touching the tip of his head. "Thank you, Eric."

Eric flinched back. "We need to set ground rules now. No touching allowed!"

Yuri raised his hands up with a playful grin. "Okay. But you can touch me all you want."

Eric blushed slightly. "Shut it," he shot up and held out his hand. "Let’s go home."

"I like the sound of that."

"I mean, let’s go to your home."

"It’s our home," Yuri leaned against him as he hobbled out of the door. "I really like the sound of our home."

Eric cleared his throat loudly. ’This minx. He really knows how to seduce me.’ He held back the urge to hug the taller man and helped him sit on the wheelchair.

Yuri reached out and touched his hand. "I like it when you take care of me."

Eric looked away. ’Ahhh, this man!’
