Chapter 252: Chapter 252 - ’Accidental meeting’
after shooting at Yuri’s face Eric slept like a baby. and the next day he was able to get him back to work as if nothing happened.
In the bakery, Sha was taking care of everything without any trouble.
"I’m really thankful you were here Sha," he gently patted his shoulders.
Little Shadow smiled. "How was your last trip? Did you get injured again?" he worriedly gazed his way.
Eric sighed. "No, we just met an unexpected person."
"Oh," Shadow did not ask him anything more. He went ahead making the macaroons. He piped strawberry filling in it and handed one to Eric. "Sweet things will help your heartbreak,"
Smiling, he took it from him. "Thank you, Sha,"
Eric really liked this about him, little Shadow never implored for more information, but he always understood what he was feeling right then.
He slowly ate the delicious macron "This thing is bomb. How was the store these few days?"
"Very busy. I really wanted to ask you to make me a third arm to help me work more efficiently," he gestured to his plastic tongue and winked.
Eric chuckled. "People would get scared and run away if so."
"Let them, I never liked meeting people anyways," Shadow placed the maroons in a very orderly fashion in a small box.
Eric watched him curiously. "aren’t you curious about your family? You never went searching for them,"
Little Shadow still hadn’t retrieved his memory at all. No one could identify his decomposed body, so his family was never found. Back then, this little ghost had been very insistent on finding his family, but as years passed, he slowly lost interest in it.
"I believe one day I would meet them and that one day when my final wish is fulfilled, I can leave. It will happen..." Shadow cast a smile his way. "It’s fated to happen,"
Eric smiled. "yes, yes, what is fated to happen will happen." He took over the freshly cooked croissants from the oven. "Go check the counter. I’ll take care of things here, the new part-timers seem completely lost as to what to do," he rolled his eyes.
Sha removed his apron and walked out of the kitchen in a hurry.
As it was a weekday, there was not a big crowd, only a few usuals taking their coffee and buying a few treats. He manned the counter and since the part-timers were not trained; he thought it was about time to do so.
A man in a grey suit walked in, adjusting his lapels.
Sha looked at him curiously. "I’ll show you guys how we have to serve the customs. Please make sure to observe," saying so he let the counter to take the order. He handed the menu to him. "What would you like on this fine day sir,"
The man gazed up. his brown eyes widened ever so slightly. "You... what is your name?"
Shadow raised a brow. "I’m Sha and I will be taking your orders for the day. Would you like to order anything, sir?"
the man simply shook his head. "You look awfully familiar.... I... what is your family name?"
"xiao*" little Shadow said patiently.
Seeing that he was not saying anything more, Yuri cleared his throat. "I’ll have a coffee please."
the man blankly looked his way after saying that.
"Anything else, sir?"
"I-I’ll order after a while." He smiled up at him, but as the waiter was leaving, he called for him. "Umm... this store owner.... No, the cook, is he here? do you have one.... I haven’t seen him... I mean... what am I saying," the man let out a loud sigh.
Sha chuckled slightly. "Without a pâtissier we won’t have any tasty treats, sir. Every one of our pastries a made fresh that morning so you don’t have to worry about hygiene issues."
"no no not for that... its... it’s just..."
Sha gave him an intense look waiting for him to complete his sentence.
"I just want a pastry. What do you suggest?"
"The macaroons. They are delicious,"
"I’ll have one," Yuri sighed. He adjusted his blazer and sat uncomfortably in the soft cushion. His private investigator had sent in the information that the young man was working in this small pastry shop. He had made plans to ’accidentally’ meet him again but it was all destroyed because he couldn’t even get the words out of his mouth.
He did not know what but when it came to the young man named Eric he was completely dumfounded. he could barely get a word out. His brain seemed to short-circuit.
Shaking his head, he sipped on the delicious coffee. A small box full of macron was soon delivered to his table.
He took one and ate it with gusto. the fresh taste of strawberries and the fluffy pastry melted in his mouth.
’These are delicious...’ he ate a few more until the box was completely empty with only crumbs remaining.
He called for the waiter again.
The tall guy with shoulder-length hair approached him again.
Yuri gazed at his face once again in a dazed manner. Weirdly so, the young man had similar facial features to his stoic father. In their family, only he had inherited his mother’s facial features. His younger brother, who was lost at a young age, looked completely similar to his dad.
Looking at the young waiter, he couldn’t help but remember his lots younger brother.
"Sha, right? I really love this pastry. Is it okay if I get to meet the chef?"
Sha’s expression stiffened up slightly but quickly he put on his professional smile. "I’m sorry but our chef is really busy behind the kitchen,"
"But I’m only trying to compliment him. Is it not possible?" he curtly smiled at him
the young waiter seemed frozen for a second. "I’ll ask the chef." He walked back to the kitchen.
Yuri anxiously waited to see that familiar face, but only that waiter exited the kitchen once again.
"Our chef is really busy right now but if you wish to meet him, you can wait until the end of his shift. It will take him four more hours to finish." He said with a kind smile.
"I’m willing to wait. Please get me another box of these maroons. They are delicious"
Sha smiled softly. "don’t eat too many. You will get a bad stomach ache."
"Sure,"
