Chapter 236: Chapter 236 - Innocent little sheep in the fox’s den
Ruelle walked up to the reception and then gazed at the young boy. "Which room are you in? I can upgrade you to a room close to mine."
Jia Cheng awkwardly gazed at his torn sneakers. In fact, he did not have a reservation. The ghost general appeared out of nowhere in his sleep last night and informed him to get there. he had used up all his savings for the flight alone just to get to this exact hotel. a single night in this hotel was enough to throw him into a lifetime of debt.
He scratched at the rusted parts of the swords anxiously. ’Will the kind lady kick me out too? I can’t afford to leave. Ghost general wants to be here... what to do..’
A hand gently touched the top of his head. "it’s okay if you don’t. kind sister will book you one," the lady winked at him and asked the registration counter to book a room close to hers.
Jia Cheng watched her whilst clutching his shirt. No one in his life had been as kind as this person. In his life all he had was a misfortune. Not a day goes by without him stumbling and being pushed down. Everyone looked down at him. even the ghosts who fold him back home would mock him and make fun of him.
Except for the ghost general.
He was the only one who protects him from the dangerous ghost. He kept him safe...
And now this lady.
She was but a stranger to him but she was willing to spend so much money to help him out of his awkward situation.
Jia Cheng silently teared up at this feeling of compassion.
Ruelle, on the other hand, was looking at the meek little sheep that had run under her trap. She could see that his man was an innocent-minded young man with a big treasure. If she played her cards right, she would be able to get the sword with ease.
She took the room key from the reception and held it up for him. "if you have any luggage, you can give it to the bell bot," she snapped her finger.
A bellboy came up to them with a small smile.
Jia Cheng shook his head. He had not packed anything. he simply left home with only the sword in hand.
"then let’s head up," Ruelle cheerfully pulled him to the elevators.
All this was seen by Yuri who was waiting by the penthouse elevator. He shook his head with a sigh of relief. ’I’m glad that she finally found another target to pull to bed.’
Not knowing any of this Ruelle happily dragged the young man back to her room. She invited him courteously and ordered an array of dishes.
She pinched his arms. "a young man like you must not be this him. Tsk tsk, you must learn to take good care o yourself." she said in a kind way.
The boy gave a shy smile. "I’m very strong, ma’am. I can even carry up to fifty kilograms."
Ruelle mentally rolled her eyes, but on the outside, she looked impressed. "that’s good. I’ve seen a lot of young people take on fad diets to lose weight. Which is ridiculous. You must learn to love yourself" she just blurted out things she had seen in a tv program.
She plopped down on the white sofa and patted the spot next to him. "Sit, I’ll bring some wine to go with our food."
Jia Cheng obediently sat on the sofa and placed the rusted sword on the nook of the sofa. The ghost general does not do well in sunlight. In fact, no ghost can walk in the sun. he had to be extra careful when carrying the sword around. That was also the reason he had been carrying it in a trunk. But that security guy took it from him.
He gently touched the bumps and scratches on the scabbard. "Are you comfortable?" he whispered.
The ghost general did not appear as usual.
Sighing, he continued to enjoy the delicacies that were spread out on the table.
"Whiskey or tequila?" Ruelle held up both drinks. "I feel like whiskey today,"
"I.. I don’t drink hard alcohol." He shyly whispered as he swallowed the food.
"It’s not that bad. You must try this one. It’s a hundred years old." she shook the bottle. "Yours," she poured it into a crystal glass and handed it to him.
Jia Cheng wiped his sweaty hands and took the glass.
"Cheers to new friendship~"
Jia Cheng gulped the drink down. The hard liquor burned his throat so much that he started to tear up. "Cough... it’s too strong."
"Don’t be a baby. It’s just a drink," she replenished his glass again. "Come on, drink with sister."
Jia Cheng doubtfully looked at the second glass.
Seeing his situation Ruelle decided on another strategy. With a small sigh, she leaned back. "Actually... today my husband asked for a divorce."
This caught the young man’s attention.
"We.... We were married for four years... I love him greatly but he seems to find me a bother. I.. I don’t even have a person to drink with or talk with," she shed her crocodile tears.
Jia Cheng immediately handed a tissue to her. "You mustn’t feel down for that. that... that guy doesn’t deserve you! You are a kind sister and you deserve only the best!" he took the crystal cup and downed the drink again. "Who said you have no drinking partner I’m here aren’t I?"
Ruelle smiled brightly. "yes... you’re here." she pretended to drink it but actually she was pouring it all in the small potted plant close to her feet.
Actually, the hundred-year-old bottle of whiskey she found was just a ten-year-old brew. It was not even that strong.
but she had cast a special magic spell on it to age the wine. The alcohol content in this small bottle was enough to knock out a huge elephant.
After just two drinks the young man started to slump and mumble illegible things.
Ruelle silently pushed him to the side and took the sword that was behind his butt.
the sword trembled violently, letting out dangerous killing intent.
Even Ruelle was shocked. She had killed at least fifty people before in her life but she had never felt a killing intent as strong as this.
Gritting her teeth, she scratched the rust off and sucked off the yin energy in it. "You think you are so great. Don’t forget that you are just a ghost stuck in a rusted. What can a pitiful ghost as you do against an exorcist."
