Eric pulled off his oxygen mask

"Ghost boy!!!! Oh my god... you have a face..." he started to sit up but that searing pain in his stomach stopped him. With a bright smile, he peered at the boy’s features.

He had straight black hair that came down to his nose bride. but when looking from a lower angle, Eric was able to get a clear view of his face. elongated eyes and cherry lips. Somehow, he looked similar to someone but Eric couldn’t put a finger on it.

Ghost boy actually looked pretty handsome.

His overwhelming happiness overcrowded it all.

"It’s so nice to finally see you...wait how am I able to see you? Am I also... no ... no I am not dead, am I?" he whispered in horror. ’I still have so much to do... I have to save Bai and....

The ghost boy shook his head vigorously.

"Phewww... oh thank god! I still have a lot to do...." He let out a big sigh of relief. Soon his eyes focused on the ghost boy. "Are you not able to talk? Why are you always so silent?"

The ghost suddenly opened his mouth. What he saw inside Eric couldn’t help but close his eyes in shock.

The poor ghost’s boy’s tongue was torn off completely leaving behind only the ugly rotting muscles attached to the end.

He had been wondering why the ghost boy’s voice was so nasal but he didn’t expect this to be the reason!!

"That fucker....im so sorry..."

The ghost boy just smiled and shook his head. He reached out to touch his hand but since he was a ghost, he couldn’t really touch him. With a saddened look, he peered at him.

"I have avenged you." He whispered with a smile.

But the ghost boy did not look any happier hearing this. He only smiled sadly and shook his head.

"He is gone from this world. For all the sins he has committed he must be rotting in hell right about now." He mumbled fiddling with her fingernails. He only killed him accidentally but that guilt still stuck around. He still felt scared of the possibility of being caught by the cops when they start investigating that place.

’Should I just avoid telling them anything for now? After healing Bai I... I will go to prison. its okay. I’m a young boy and it was self-defense I would not be in for long.’ He thought to himself.

all of a sudden, a tall dark figure sat up beside his bed.

Stunning Eric peered at the person. He looked like he was sleeping on the floor.

’who is this? Another ghost?’

The man glanced his way. And when he noticed that he was wide awake, the man froze. "you’re awake... you’re finally awake. Oh, thank god." He rushed to him and hugged him softly.

Eric laid there on the bed not knowing where to put his hands. "ummm who are you?"

The man awkwardly pulled away. "Sorry I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Joo Haolei, but you call me Haohao or Hao, anything you want to. You collapsed in front of my house ad we got you here. how are your wounds? Do they hurt?"

Eric nodded. "my stomach hurts a little."

"Where?"

"Here," Eric pointed to that area.

"Wait I’ll bring the doctors here to give you a check-up." Before pulling off the privacy screen open the man glanced back anxiously. "I’ll be back okay, so don’t be afraid."

’I’m not afraid though...’ even though Eric thought that he didn’t say it out loud. He simply nodded and watched the man rush out of there.

"Hey ghost boy, how many days was I unconscious?"

He counted with his fingers and held up three fingers.

"Geez, three days is too much. What the heck happened to me?"

With difficulty, he sat up and pulled up his shirt. there was a huge bandage tied around his waist but the wound though was definitely close to his chest.

He gently poked that area.

a blinding pain hit him like a truck.

’oh that was a bad idea...’ he groaned loudly.

"shit..." the man named Haolei came back with a doctor and rushed to his side. He gently held his hand. "is it hurting too much? Doctor, do something. he is hurting!"

The doctor checked his vitals. "He is doing okay. I’ll give you some pain meds, and make sure that he stays on his bed properly. He needs to be well rested until his sutures are healed."

"s-sutures? I got stitches?" he looked at both men with his eyes wide open.

"Your ribs were broken in three places, completely displaced, so we had to surgically place plates there. one of the broken ribs had pieced through your right lung. so we have to go in manually and place a breathing tube there. Sooooo.... don’t touch that place. I don’t even know how you have the strength to sit up actually," the doctor frowningly read the reports once again.

Eric only felt a fraction of the pain the doctor just listed. He knew he had a broken rib, but he didn’t expect his wounds to be to this extent. ’Why don’t I feel that much pain? Ohh right, they must have given me very good pain meds.’ He nodded to himself.

Haolei helped him lie down again and covered him up diligently with the blanket. "Will he be an okay doctor? When will the chest tube be taken out?"

"Five to six days later. We will take an x-ray to determine if your lungs had recovered or not." The doctor looked at him once again with that weird gaze. "I’ll have a nurse change your bandages."

"Wait," Eric called him out. "What if I need to go to the bathroom?" he shyly whispered.

"Oh, you already have a tube connection to your body for that. You don’t need to do anything."

Eric just gaped at the doctor’s retreating back. ’oh my god what did he just say?! I have a tube down there. That means......’ he reached down and touched his peepee. He hadn’t noticed before because the blanket was thick, but now that was feeling around, he felt that tube running out of his peepee.

’I can’t even pee on my own!! Shitttt....’ He closed his eyes in embarrassment. He knew his body sustained a bit of injury from that struggle but he didn’t know it was to this extent.

"it will be only for a month. Then you will be able to go on your own." That guy, Haolei said, assuring him.

Eric just looked at him. ’Why is he helping me so much? Is he afraid that I will sue him? I have no reason to sue him, actually. So why?’

"Grandma made some porridge... wait I have to ask the doctor if you can eat it or not?" the man unpacked the small parcel on the side table. "it must have gone cold. I can heat it up though." he said sniffing the food. "Thank god it didn’t go bad."

"Excuse me,"

Haolei looked up at him with a smile. "Yeah, you don’t like porridge?"

"Not that. But why are you helping me so much? You don’t owe me anything."

The guy froze for a second. his mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. "I-I’m a cop! Did I tell you that? I am dealing with your case so I came to check on you... you looked like you didn’t have anyone so... I stayed behind. If you are uncomfortable with me here, I can leave."

Eric’s hand tightly clenched into a fist under the blanket. ’he is a bloody cop! Oh my god, he is here to arrest me. No wonder he was sleeping close to me. He was scared I would just run away. Mommy, why did I get caught right after I committed my first ever crime....’ Internally, he was in turmoil.

The man suddenly held his hand. "to be honest you remind me of a brother ii never had.... Looking at you like this really hurts. I don’t have any bad intentions I can assure you that. I just... please can you let me stay with you until you recover? Please?"
