Lia’s face had slimmed down a lot since the last time he saw him. His high-rise cheekbones were poking out. His cheeks were riddled with small scars. "I’ll give him a towel bath. Can you bring me some warm water?" he looked up at Aaron.

Without a word, Aaron brought in a bowl of warm water and a towel.

Kang slowly removed Lia’s clothes. The sight in front of him was heartbreaking.

Lia’s small body was riddled with heavy black and blue bruises.

"Shit. Do we need to get him an x-ray?"

"The doctor assured me that he was unharmed. They gave me his health report." he pulled out a huge file from under his shirt.

Kang did not know how to read reports like this. "Can we take him to the hospital with us? I just want him checked again."

"Definitely."

With that said, they all got ready to leave. Instead of flying around, they took a car to the nearby hospital, which was about ten minutes away.

the ride was smooth without any issues.

After getting to the hospital, though, he saw a group of nurses and doctors standing out the door waiting for them.

"What is this?"

"I informed the chairman of the hospital that we were dropping by," Aaron led the out with Lia in his rams. One of the senior doctors rushed to him and held Lia onto a stretcher.

Kang was slightly surprised by this welcome. For the first time, he realized how much influence Aaron had. He knew he was a wealthy businessman and a superhero, but Aaron had never flaunted his status or his wealth anywhere. Even the clothes he wore were simply brought from small stores and brands.

Standing in front of the group of doctors, Kang finally realized the distinction between the statues of wealth between them.

"Zhu," Aaron placed a hand on his back and slowly led him in.

Kang paused in front of the door. "so, we need to?"

"Yes, we need to. Come in, it’s just a small medical check-up. Nothing else," he assured him and took him through all the procedures.

It was so tedious to pee in a small cup and to have his blood drawn, but since Aaron was close to him, he did not whine or complain.

He complied with everything.

By the end of the testing, he was told to wait in the lobby until they got his results.

Aaron did not sit with him. Instead, he went to the senior doctor and whispered something to him. The old man started to sweat and anxiously nodded.

Then he came back with a bright smile. "We will get our results in ten minutes. Wait here. I’ll get you a drink." he gestured to the vending machine that was close.

Zhu Kang watched his back with a soft gaze. What Aaron did was quite sweet.

Because from the moment he stepped into this place, he had an unusually uncomfortable feeling. He had never felt anything like it before.

The last time he was admitted to a hospital, the zain uncle and nephew made a scene that had him quite distracted.

But even then, he had that uncomfortable feeling.

Overall, he analyzed that he hated hospitals.

’Why is that? I had no bad experiences with hospitals since I came to his world. was it because it had something to do with my life prior to becoming a system?’

"Here," Aaron handed a cool coffee. "They have fruit-flavored drinks too, but I thought this might energize you a bit,"

"Thanks," Kang cracked open the can and gulped it down. his hands sought out Aaron’s for comfort.

Feeling his anxiety, Aaron sat by him patiently holding his hand.

One of the doctors came to them with Lia’s report. It was found out that he had a few broken, but all of them were almost healed.

The doctors were quite curious about his injury, and one of them even wanted to call child protection services.

But Aaron used his influence to snub their remarks.

Lia’s situation was directly related to the snake pit. And if the public knew about the uprising of the villains, they all would start to panic.

Till now their acts of capturing the villains had been done very silently. There were a few cases that got the attention of the press, but other than that they were able to keep a tight wrap on it.

Kang suddenly squeezed his hand.

Aaron looked his way with a smile. "Tired?"

"No, I want to see Lia."

They left for Lia’s private room, which was quite close to them.

Kang cracked open the door silently and poked his head in. a nurse was by Lia’s side checking on his iv drip.

"oh, you guys can come in. I’m almost done here." the nurse smiled at them kindly and left the room.

Kang sat on the small stool beside the bed and held Lia’s small bruised hands. "He suffered a lot."

"yes he did....but he is a strong little man. He has good friends who will help him out."

Zhu Kang did not know what he was feeling at that moment. Seeing Lia like this reminded him so much about little Zhu Kang. he too suffered a lot in that hell. But he had no one with him.

’no... ruth was with him.... at least he had one person who was willing to be with him during those tough times...’ he laid his head on the bed. ’I want to be that person for Lia... is it okay for me to?’

This thought stuck around in his mind.

it ran rampant in his mind, making him unable to think about anything else.

Before he could even realize it, he mumbled, "can we adopt him?"

Just as he said this, he felt the whole room froze. Aaron, who was standing by the window, did not move a single muscle.

"w-what did you say? I didn’t get you."

Kang felt his heart pound loudly in his ears. he cleared his throat and whispered. "I said can we adopt him? you and me, can we adopt him?"

Aaron just looked at him, unblinking.

Zhu Kang was dying with anxiety. "Are you okay with it? if not I can adopt him by myself. but I........ what I’m saying is..... I want to raise him with you."

Aaron’s eyes shone golden. His blond hair suddenly had a bright halo around it. the man literally ran to him and hugged him tightly. "Are you being serious right now? do you know what your words mean right?"

"yeah....." Kang hugged his waist. "Marry me."

Aaron’s breath hitched audibly. "r-really?"

"yes really. Marry me and be Lia’s father." Kang looked up at him with a small smile. "Are you willing?"

"Hell yes!!!" Aaron grabbed his face and kissed him ferociously. "yes, I will marry you! oh my god... yes..."

Chuckling Kang cupped his mouth. "shhh we are in a hospital, mister zain."

"I can’t hold back the excitement. You agreed. You agreed..." Aaron’s shimmering eyes peered into his. "where’s my ring?"

Kang paused awkwardly. "I don’t have a ring with me. but.. wait a bit," he shifted his nails into sharp talons and cut a long strand of curly hair.

He braided the strands and put it around Aaron’s ring finger. "Does this suffice?"

"yes!!! Yes!!!" Aaron pulled him up high into the air and kissed him happily.

Kang laughed out loud, looking at his ecstatic face. "I’ll buy you an actual ring later."

"Hmmm, I’m really happy with this one."

"its hair. It’s disgusting."

"no it’s not." Aaron kissed the little hair ring. "it’s very beautiful. Mush more precious than any gold or silver,"

Zhu Kang softly cupped his face. Who would have known... who would have known I would have a wonderful man like Aaron with me.. this rebirth was the best. Running into the system was the best decision of my life.’ He hugged his neck and snuggled into him.

His eyes started to tear up. he hurriedly wiped them away. "When shall we get married then?"

"Now?" Aaron looked at him hopefully.

"No, are you kidding me? do you think I will get married without my brother with me?"

"yeah..." Aaron looked downcast. "Fine I’ll make arrangements. I need to book a marriage hall and cake decorators and a floral arrangement. I don’t know if any of the marriage halls here are to my liking. How about we have our wedding in Bali? "

"Okay, anywhere you want."

"Then Bali it is. Its going to be the best of the best.. the whole world has to see that you are my beloved husband. I will broadcast it live."

"no!!! never do that!" Kang glared down at him.

"why not?"

"just cuz I said so.. no live broadcasts. No extravagant things. I want a simple wedding. With just you me and Gwyn and Altren. No one else. The after party can be held somewhere grand, you can invite all your business associates and hero friends,"

"Hmm that sounds like a great idea," Aaron powered him down on the chair and leaned down and kissed him. "I’m waiting for the day to call you mister zain."

Kang felt his cheeks heat up instantly. "Shut up. I will not be mister zain,"

"Then missus zain?" he playfully smirked down at him.

"Not missus zain either,"

Aaron pouted. "Why not?"

"I am the one who proposed, so you have to carry on my name. you will be called Aaron Kang. how about that?"

Aaron smiled dazzlingly. "I would like that very much and you will be called Zhu zain,"

"ah ha, never. That sounds wrong on so many levels."

"Zhu Aaron?"

"No!"

"Please..."

"No!"
