The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance -
Chapter 71: Frustrations
Chapter 71: Frustrations
"Is that where your true motive lies? In winning the bet with Lucas?" asked Sylas.
He leaned closer to the table. There was a glint of teasing in those steely blue eyes, mesmerizing her.
Violet immediately shook her head.
"My main intention is to make you happy, Alpha. Everything else comes second," Violet expressed with a wide smile on her face.
Then, her round eyes pleadingly stared at Alpha.
"Can you really ignore this adorable little thing, Alpha? Look at it, it’s so small and fluffy. Surely, looking at it will brighten up your day," Violet expressed, trying to please the Alpha.
Sylas’s eyes stayed on her face for a second before shifting towards the rabbit. He then commented, "More than a gift, I feel threatened to accept it."
Violet let out a silly chuckle.
"Fine, I will take it," Sylas expressed, "but you will be responsible for cleaning it every day."
Violet eagerly nodded.
Once Violet was done spending time with the Alpha, the next instant she barged into Lucas’s room. When she slammed open the door, Lucas was talking on his phone, standing half-naked.
Lucas quickly ended the call upon her arrival and said, "Hey, Princess, I get that we are close, but you can’t just barge into a man’s room like this. What if I was naked?"
Violet waved her hand. "It’s nothing precious. I am sure all the ladies has seen your bare body by now."
"Why, Princess? Are you jealous?" Lucas wiggled his brows.
Violet scrunched up her nose. "Anyways, I am here to inform you that Alpha accepted my gift. He liked the rabbit."
There was a proud smile playing on her face.
A hint of surprise crossed through Lucas’s eyes before he sat back on the bed. He placed his hand on his chin and contemplated. "Seems that Alpha adores you quite a lot."
Hearing that made Violet’s cheeks burn.
"Then, what do you want me to do now?" asked Lucas.
"Well, let me think about it."
Following this, Violet walked over to Lucas and sat on the bed beside him. Her curious hazel eyes stared at him as she asked, "Lucas, you know, yesterday night, I have seen Lydia and you."
The memories of what happened last night flooded into Lucas’s mind, and he frowned. Then, he fixed the smile on his face, appearing composed, and said, "These are all adult games. Princess, you should stay away."
Violet maintained her persistent attitude. "Lydia and you did all that. You must be attracted to her, right? Do you like her? How much do you like her?"
Lucas hissed. Raising his hand, he poked her forehead with his finger and tried to put distance between them.
"I thought you would know by now I don’t need to like someone to sleep with them. It happens, well, quite naturally."
"Even then, there should be something special between Lydia and you, right? Others aren’t close to you as Lydia is. And usually, you argue around, but there is a silent yet burning chemistry, connection between you two. Can’t you feel it?" Violet softly spoke out, trying to keep her voice as persuasive as possible.
She noticed how Lucas fell in a daze. This made her hope for a positive answer.
"I imagined it..."
Violet stared at him eagerly and encouragingly.
"And doesn’t it sound like a true horror? Spending more than a night with that shrew is scary. I just got chills," Lucas commented, shuddering.
His exaggerated facial expressions disappointed Violet. Standing in front of him, she placed her hands on her waist and stared at him in disapproval.
"How can you say that? Lucas, you’re ungrateful. Do you know all that Lydia has done for you? She has taken care of you so well everytime you get drunk or fall into trouble. How, how can you be so mean to her?" Violet rebuked him.
Then, Violet turned her back on him about to leave when Lucas grabbed her wrist. Her hazel eyes glared at him, asking him what more he had to say.
Lucas gave her a helpless smile.
"Princess, do you feel bad for Lydia?" Lucas asked.
"I just think it’s wrong how say all those cruel words to Lydia. And then, last night, you slept with her and left her alone in the bed afterwards, instead of caring for her," Violet expressed.
Lucas wondered what image of Lydia Violet had in her mind. Why was she painting that woman as a miserable victim?
"My dear, if she found me on the bed with her, my head wouldn’t remain attached to my neck today," Lucas expressed.
"Lydia won’t do that." Violet pouted.
Violet understood why Lydia was mean to Lucas at times. It was her out of frustrations of how Lucas acted and she couldn’t tell him about anything.
Although Violet would have presented everything clearly, unable to keep anything a secret, she understood prideful Lydia as well.
"Violet, you can not be that biased towards Lydia. What about me? Do you not feel bad for me?" Lucas complained.
After observing a moment of silence, Violet brought up, "What do you think about having a mate, Lucas? What will you do if you suddenly meet your mate?"
Lucas was a little taken aback by her sudden question. He lowered his gaze and then calmly answered, "I almost twenty-seven and haven’t met her. I don’t think I will meet her at this point."
"But then what if you do?" Violet probed.
The man then chuckled. "Violet, you know me. I am a free man. No woman can keep me caged. My dear mate would probably have to get her heart broken."
Violet frowned.
She clenched her hand into a tight fist.
Was there really no hope for Lydia and Lucas?
"But your mate could be someone very compatible to you," Violet expressed, "she could be the best out there."
Lucas sighed. "No matter how good it is, wouldn’t you get tired of eating the same meal everyday."
"Why?" she asked Lucas.
