The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance
Chapter 51: Attractive

Chapter 51: Attractive

Lydia’s abrupt question forced her to think.

Violet was never introspective about her feelings. Usually, she went with the flow.

It was the same with Mathew. The young boy played along with her and treated her well. Therefore, she found it comfortable being around him— not caring about how the other pack members viewed him.

And when it was established they were mates, Violet accepted it easily as it was something meant to be. Her dream of the future wasn’t grand either. She just wanted a usual werewolf life.

Violet knew she couldn’t escape answering Lydia.

"Lucas is my treasured friend. He feels like the older brother I never had. I am aware he treats well. But even then, I can see he is looking at someone through me.

He is trying to make up for his regrets through me. It’s not something I am complaining about. It’s just that I find it sad he feels like being nice to me will compensate for his regrets.

He must have lost something precious to be desperately searching for that in me, and just as he helped me heal, I sincerely wish I could be of help to him," Violet expressed.

Lydia’s eyes widened, not expecting Violet to be so well-aware and sensible.

"So, you knew about it and you’re not angry?" Lydia questioned.

Violet shook her head. "Why will I be?"

"What about the Alpha then?"

This made Violet fall into silence.

She could easily organize her thoughts when it came to Lucas, but Sylas made her confused.

Maybe she could easily answer how he was a treasured friend of hers, but her instincts let her know it was different with Sylas.

While Lucas made her feel happy and content, Sylas could easily throw her into a turmoil of emotions. She found herself overthinking about the smallest matters when it came to Sylas.

Violet wasn’t foolish enough to not know this wasn’t normal.

However, Lydia’s eyes made her feel exposed. Afraid of letting her true feelings out, Violet attempted to cover it up with her clumsy words.

"Alpha is a good friend of mine as well. It is the same as Lucas. Why are you questioning me like this, Lydia? It’s awkward. And Alpha will get mad and ignore me if he hears this."

"Do you have feelings for Alpha?"

Lydia’s straightforward question made her choke.

"That’s absurd. Alpha probably doesn’t even bother putting me in his eyes. He is nice to me just because that’s his personality, but deep down, he probably thinks of me as a nuisance," Violet softly said, letting out a despondent sigh.

"You’re quite perceptive," Lydia commented.

Violet pouted, not sure whether that was something to rejoice.

"But there is something you’re wrong about. Maybe because you have the potential to affect Alpha that you’re a bother to him," Lydia cryptically said.

Creases formed between both of her brows.

"What do you mean?"

"I am just saying if you like Alpha, as long as you’re persistent enough, he will give in to you. And if he doesn’t listen, cry in front of him like always," Lydia advised.

Violet’s cheeks flushed. "I don’t cry on purpose. And also I don’t like Alpha. I see him as a parental figure, yeah. That’s all. He reminds me of my dad."

Lydia nodded, but the look in her eyes let Violet know how she did not buy it.

Violet then hugged Lydia by her waist and stuck her face close to her. She then spoke out, "It’s you whom I love the most, Lydia. What about you? Are you sincere to me?"

"Get off of me. It’s hot," Lydia expressed.

Sylas furrowed his brows. The darkness around him dissolved to reveal a forest. The trees stretched beyond his horizon, impeding his path.

His expression calmed down. As if he has rehearsed through this scene many times, he walked forward hurriedly.

Once the expanse of forest was over, he reached a shabby house. Following the path in his memory, his expression was calm as he opened the hidden door before heading down the stairs.

The walls on his both sides were cracked. The constant tapping sound of water droplets falling could be heard. The dark pathway seemed gloomy and full of eerie silence.

When Sylas made his way through it, in front of laid massacred corpses. It was a horrifying sight with some having their organs pulled out and blood splattered on the ground. Some of the bodies were still moving, asking for help.

However, Sylas maintained his indifference, making way over to a specific prison. He grabbed on to the bars as he saw a woman laying down on the ground.

Stab wounds were made all over her body, and blood pooled around her. Her state was frightening to look at with her face barely recognizable. Sylas opened the door of the prison and entered.

He bent down and picked up her body, hugging it tight to his body.

"Julia," he mumbled, "let me accompany you already, alright? Have you not forgiven me yet?"

Sylas bent forward and kissed on the forehead. However, when he lifted his head, the face changed. It was Violet lying there with cold corpse.

Taken aback, Sylas’s eyes widened. He pushed the body off of him and stood up, stumbling backwards at the loss of composure.

Disbelief crossed his eyes.

The next second, Sylas’s eyes shot open, and he sat up on the bed. Bullets of cold sweat formed on his forehead. He raised his hand to touch his heart, feeling it rapidly beating inside.

He had forgotten when he had last felt it being so alive.

Julia’s death has repeated in his dream so many times that he had grown to become numb it. All he waited for was the day he could finally reunite with her.

Sylas pressed on his forehead, feeling agitated. He slammed his hand on the table before realizing how he was losing control over his temper.

No, he couldn’t allow that to happen.

°°°

Violet hummed while preparing the strawberry chiffon cake with Lucas. Lucas let it slip how despite his appearance, the Alpha actually enjoyed strawberries.

Although she didn’t dare to loudly comment on it, Violet thought it was cute.

Despite Lucas not letting her do much, she wandered around the kitchen behind him and listened to reveal secrets about the Alpha in full interest.

Lucas then handed her a bowl of cut strawberries. Violet sat on the chair with her legs folded. Lifting her body high, she delicately placed the strawberries one by one on the cake, making it look aesthetically pleasing.

Once done, she stared at the cake in satisfaction. Then, she took a bite out of the last strawberry on the bowl. The sweet and juicy taste left her satisfied.

"Lucas, look over here," Violet called. "Is it pretty?"

Her bright eyes blinked at him, fishing for compliments.

Lucas didn’t disappoint as he fawned over the cake.

"It’s absolutely gorgeous. How did you do it? I need to learn from you indeed," Lucas commented.

Violet giggled before saying, "Quickly cut a piece for me. I will take it to the Alpha to taste it."

"Why are you taking it to the Alpha? This is enough for us."

Violet got down from her seat, staring at Lucas in disapproval. Then, she pushed him by his shoulder and rushed him.

"Come on now. Cut it nicely. Alpha likes pretty things," Violet said.

Lucas sighed.

"Fine, fine. Aren’t you Alpha’s devoted little fan girl?" Lucas voiced out.

Violet ignored his comment and watched him closely as he slid the knife through the cake, cutting a slice.

"Slowly, carefully," Violet softly said along the way.

When the slice of cake was presented on the plate, Violet stated, "I will take it to the Alpha then."

"What’s with the rush? You should eat first and take the leftovers for Alpha," Lucas spoke out.

Violet turned back to look at him and vocalized, "You need to take a slice of cake to Lydia. She takes such good care of you. You need to be grateful."

Lucas scoffed at that.

Violet shook her head and went towards Alpha’s room. Clearing her throat, Violet held back her excitement as she raised her hand to knock on Alpha’s room.

The door to the room was opened.

Violet was greeted with a lethargic version of Alpha. His hair laid open fell on his shoulder. The top few buttons of his shirt was undone, revealing a sneak into his well-defined upper body.

Those pair of steely blue eyes stared at her with exhaustion. This was the first time Violet had seen the well-maintained Alpha like this, and she had to admit this carried a different type of sensuality.

’No, Violet, no, stop your nymphomaniac thoughts. Get a hold of yourself! No matter how attractive Alpha is, he isn’t food! You can’t drool over him!"

"Alpha, I baked a cake. Would you like to try it?"
