The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance -
Chapter 41: Flattering
Chapter 41: Flattering
"I am sorry, Alpha," Violet softly said.
All the excitement had worn off, and her chest was heavy with guilt.
"I let you stay here under the condition you wouldn’t be causing any trouble. However, if you carry on causing trouble and entice others into doing so, get out of here."
Sylas’s harsh, cold words stabbed Violet’s heart, sharper than any blade could ever. Her lips parted, unable to process her emotions for a second. Tears gathered in her eyes— a trail left on her cheek.
The thrill she experienced today already made her feel exhausted and dizzy, and now, she felt further lightheaded at Sylas’s words.
"Alpha, that’s too much," Lucas argued in her defense.
"I-uhm- I’m sorry." Violet’s tone reflected her horror.
The blacks spots in her eyes made her stumble backwards, and the whirlwind of emotions brewing within her made unstable. The next instant she closed her eyes and fell backwards, losing her consciousness.
Those pair of steely blue eyes widened for a second before he zoomed towards her and held her, preventing her from touching the ground.
Lucas wanted to say few words of rebuke, but the frightening aura surrounding the Alpha let him know it was better to keep his lips sealed.

When Violet gained her consciousness next, she lifted her heavy head and leaned against the headboard. She stared at the IV drip in her room and recalled she had lost her consciousness once again.
As the memories returned to her gradually, she tightly grabbed on to the bedsheet. She bit down on her lower lip, trying to control the outburst of her emotions.
She disappointed the Alpha.
She made trouble for him.
She resented herself for getting ahead of herself.
Right, he was kind enough to let her have a place to stay, and now, because of her, he had to pestered from all sides.
The Alpha came to stay here because he wanted peace.
However, her existence here wouldn’t let him to do that.
Violet was in no mood to get out of the bed. Hiding underneath the blanket, she didn’t care if she suffocated herself. She kicked her feet underneath the blanket.
All the thrashing around caused her to roll off her bed. Her instincts came into act as Violet held on to her stomach to protect it, and her head hit against the table, taking a sharp hit.
A wince left her mouth when she slid down the bed, accompanied by her blanket.
The sound alerted the rest, and the door to her room opened.
How humiliating!
Violet hid her face underneath the blanket and clenched her eyes shut.
Her hope to be left alone was crushed when the blanket was ripped away from her hand. She faced Lucas’s smiling eyes next.
"Good morning, Sleeping Beauty. It’s time you woke up. It has been more than a day," Lucas expressed.
Violet was a little shocked. She didn’t expect to be unconscious for so long.
A fake yawn left her mouth. "I am still sleepy. Let me get to bed."
Violet was about to get up and dive into her bed when Lucas held her by her stomach and threw her over her shoulder, carrying her out the room.
"No being a coward. You need to eat," Lucas voiced out, bringing her out like a trash bag and placing her on the table.
Sylas and Lydia was already there, eating their breakfast.
Violet shot a glare at Lucas to which he merely smiled.
He then served her plate of food— scrambled eggs with vegetables and cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and grilled steak. There was a pudding on the side as well.
"If this feels too heavy for you, I will cook something that’s easy on the stomach. I didn’t think you would wake up now," Lucas gently informed, acting as though nothing was wrong.
Violet wore small pout on her lips, playing with her scrambled eggs.
"Violet."
Hearing that calm voice call her caused her eyes to redden, and her emotions were on the verge of exploding. She looked at the Alpha as though she suffered from great injustice.
"I didn’t see you crying when you returned all injured. What’s the use to shedding tears now? That will not lighten your punishment, neither will fainting," Sylas sternly spoke out.
"I will take whatever punishment you give," Violet resolutely stated.
"Are you throwing a tantrum now? You have the courage to do so?" Sylas questioned.
Violet blinked her eyes— a drop of tear falling down her cheek. "I am not. Why are you being so mean to me? If anything happens, I will take responsibility and leave, okay?"
Sylas smiled, amused. "Oh? You will?"
"Yeah, and since you think I am trouble, if you want me to leave, I will leave," Violet added.
"You’re quite responsible," Sylas commented.
Her hazel eyes held determination in them. Violet nodded.
"You are indeed a trouble."
A streak of tear fell down her cheek at his comment.
Then, the look in his eyes turned gentle as he carried on, "However, I am quite responsible as well. That’s why, since I have decided to take you in, I will keep my end of the bargain."
Violet instantly broke down crying after hearing his words. Sylas almost gave her a heart attack.
Even Lydia laughed and patted on her back in an attempt to calm her down.
"Alpha was worried about you. That’s why, he said all that. You gave him a scare when you disappeared with Lucas at the middle of the night," Lydia comforted.
Her tears paused for a second as she carefully stared at Sylas.
The man’s silence acquiesced the answer.
"You must be my arch nemesis. I can’t say anything to you, can I? One fool planned with another fool— do you think your plan was foolproof? What if you got caught yesterday? Are you aware you are pregnant? How dare you play with explosives?" Sylas scolded.
Knowing that this came from a place of concern made Violet feel warm.
"Alpha, you can be pretty long-winded too it seems. Princess, you changed Alpha’s personality from a cool hotshot to a nagging mother," Lucas commented playfully, wiggling his brows.
Violet got up from her seat and went behind Sylas. Assuming a flattering stance, she pounded on his back. A wide grin settled on her face.
"Don’t say that about Alpha. He was only like this because he was worried about us. It was us who was short-sighted. Please be magnanimous and look past it, alright?" Violet spoke in a sweet and delicate voice with full intent to please Sylas.
