Chapter 389: Chapter 379: Sword Martial Immortal, Ximen Wuhen

In just a few short days, the news that Long Chen had been afflicted with an unsolvable curse spread thoroughly throughout the Cultivation World, fermenting as it went.

When this news reached Ancestor Xia’s ears,

Ancestor Xia personally picked up the phone to inquire. All Long Chen told Ancestor Xia was not to worry, that he could solve it himself, that he had a plan.

But in truth, the Evil Talisman was indeed very troublesome. These past several days, Long Chen had been trying every day but failed to break the Evil Talisman.

Furthermore, as he circulated his cultivation, the Evil Talisman spread like cancerous cells.

This was extremely terrifying, very hard to stop.

Because the Evil Talisman was tightly fused to the Divine Soul, trying to remove it would cause great damage to the Divine Soul.

Long Chen searched his mind, combing through the "Medical Immortal Treasure Manual," but found no remedy.

However, Long Chen’s state of mind remained calm, not frantic.

Qing Zhi did not leave either. No matter where Long Chen went, she followed close by, protecting him and actively helping him to think of solutions.

Unfortunately, after ten consecutive days, the pair were at a loss.

"Alas, it seems there’s no solution left. I’m starting to lose patience."

Qing Zhi sighed.

Long Chen wasn’t surprised by this.

"You can go. Don’t worry about me, I won’t blame you," Long Chen said with a smile.

Yet within that smile, there were a few strands of loneliness.

Qing Zhi’s expression darkened, and she immediately retorted, "You’ve misunderstood me. I’m not trying to abandon you, but rather I want to take you to see my master. My teacher has lived through countless years; perhaps he has a way to resolve the Evil Talisman."

"That doesn’t seem very appropriate," Long Chen said with a wry smile. "I’ve killed one of his disciples before, would he help me?"

"If he can solve it, he certainly will help you. Besides, the person you killed wasn’t actually considered my master’s disciple; that fellow was just presumptuous. And I only came to fight you following that wind. Little did I know, it would lead to all this mess," Qing Zhi sighed.

"So that’s how it is."

Long Chen fell into contemplation.

"Don’t hesitate anymore. The Evil Talisman can’t wait. Follow me to see my master. Even if he can’t solve it, he should have some useful advice or hints," Qing Zhi urged.

"Fine, let’s give it a try then."

Long Chen agreed.

"Alright, go tell your beloved ladies, then we’ll set off," Qing Zhi said indifferently.

"That urgent? How about we go tomorrow?"

"No, you must go and say your farewells to them now."

Qing Zhi was very resolute.

"Qing Zhi, with you being so domineeringly kind to me, I might get the wrong idea," Long Chen teased.

"Still in the mood for jokes?" Qing Zhi glanced at Long Chen and said, "If we don’t hurry, you really will end up a cripple."

"Alright, wait for me a moment."

"Okay, I’ll wait for you at the door."

...

Half an hour later, Long Chen and Qing Zhi secretly set off, leaving Qianzhou City.

Long Chen specifically instructed Xia Ling and others not to reveal any news.

He was concerned that if the old thing from Undying Mountain knew he was not in Qianzhou, he might act rashly.

But Long Chen was only slightly worried. After all, even if the Master of Undying Mountain truly forced his way into the Great Xia Mansion, the people of the Great Xia Mansion were not pushovers.

As of now, the cultivation levels of Xia Ling, Zhao Churan, Li Yuechan, Long’er, and others had grown significantly. If the Master of Undying Mountain dared to go, it was uncertain if he would come out on top.

In the blink of an eye, two days passed.

Long Chen and Qing Zhi travelled through various places before finally arriving at Martial Immortal City.

Martial Immortal City was an extremely ancient city, said to have a history of three thousand years, situated near the Southern Desolate Sea. Across the sea was other dynasties.

Since ancient times, Martial Immortal City had produced countless heroes and legends. It was a city filled with legendary tales and many a mysterious story.

In the present day, Martial Immoral City had acquired a touch of technological feel, but one could still experience the ancient atmosphere washing over them.

Qing Zhi led Long Chen into the city, walking for quite a while, before arriving beneath a mountain in the center of the city.

Long Chen looked up and could faintly see a few palaces amidst the mist-enshrouded mountain.

"My teacher is on the mountain. When we see him, just answer honestly whatever he asks you. He will not harm you," Qing Zhi whispered.

"Okay."

Long Chen nodded.

"Well, let’s go up."

Qing Zhi led Long Chen to start climbing the mountain.

It wasn’t long before the two reached the summit.

The view from the mountain top was staggeringly beautiful, making it possible to take in the whole of Martial Immortal City at a glance.

Long Chen sensed that the spiritual energy at the peak of the mountain was extremely dense, a completely different world from other places.

"This must be what the ancients called a ’blessed land.’ Given that you’ve been cultivating here since childhood, your realm is really quite low," Long Chen teased.

Qing Zhi’s breathing hitched, "Do you still want my help or not?"

"Yes, yes, of course. I’m grateful for your assistance, Miss Qing Zhi."

"Buzz off, don’t talk to me in that flowery language."

Qing Zhi gave Long Chen a sharp glance.

Perhaps even she hadn’t realized that over the time they spent together, her tone when speaking to Long Chen had lost some of its initial coldness.

Or rather, the coldness that remained now carried a trace of the mundane world.

Minutes passed, and Qing Zhi led Long Chen to the grand hall in the center.

In front of the hall, a little girl around ten years old was dozing off, nearly asleep, even drooling a little at the corner of her mouth, looking incredibly cute.

Qing Zhi approached and gently tapped the little girl’s head.

"Who’s there?"

The little girl suddenly jumped up, her eyes as clear as crystals.

Upon realizing it was Qing Zhi, the little girl sat back down, "Sister Qing Zhi, how annoying you are, disturbing someone’s nap, hmph."

"Is the master inside?" Qing Zhi asked.

"Of course, why else would I be sitting at the door?"

The little girl replied, not in the best mood.

During the conversation, the little girl glanced at Long Chen, but surprisingly didn’t ask who he was.

"I’m taking him to see the master about something," Qing Zhi said.

"Sister, aren’t you afraid the master will be angry you brought Long Chen to our Martial Immortal Mountain?"

"You pesky kid, go play with your mud."

Qing Zhi couldn’t be bothered with the little girl.

The little girl stood up huffily, stomping her feet. As Long Chen passed by, she tugged at the hem of his clothing and whispered, "Long Chen, I seriously suspect my sister has feelings for you. Be careful."

Long Chen was taken aback and smiled without responding, walking into the grand hall.

In fact, this little girl had left a deep impression on Long Chen, having guessed his identity immediately, something not expected from a little girl.

But at the moment, Long Chen didn’t have time to ponder it as upon entering the hall, he saw an old man in a white robe, seated on a meditation cushion.

The elder had a full head of white hair, and a long white beard that fell to the ground.

He seemed as if he hadn’t moved for a very long time, and when he sensed the arrival of Qing Zhi and Long Chen, his eyelids moved slightly but didn’t open.

"Greetings, Master,"

Qing Zhi bowed respectfully.

"Mm, the person you brought, is he Long Chen?"

Ximen Wuhen spoke slowly, his voice quite hoarse.

"It is indeed this junior, greetings to you, senior."

Long Chen also bowed.

Meeting this legendary figure, Long Chen was anything but calm.

Seeing Sword Martial Immortal, Ximen Wuhen, in person, even though he didn’t move, Long Chen still felt an immense pressure.

Long Chen also felt that even though the elder hadn’t opened his eyes, he seemed to be scrutinizing him.

This sensation was very mysterious.

"Young man, what have you come to Qing Zhi for?"

Ximen Wuhen asked.

"Master, he’s been afflicted with an Evil Talisman, ambushed by the Master of Undying Mountain. I’ve brought him here hoping Master might know a way to break the curse," Qing Zhi reported softly.

"Evil Talisman?"

Ximen Wuhen suddenly opened his eyes.

He seemed not to have expected Long Chen to be afflicted with an Evil Talisman.

"Senior, do you possibly have a method to counteract it?"

Long Chen inquired.

"The Lord of Great Xia Mansion was actually ambushed by someone from Undying Mountain; your strength as the Lord doesn’t seem too formidable,"

Ximen Wuhen said with a chuckle.

Long Chen sighed, "My cultivation is not high, I’ve just been lucky. I appreciate your indulgence, senior."

"Master, it was actually me who insisted on dueling with Long Chen. We were both injured when that old thing from Undying Mountain suddenly launched a sneak attack. It was unexpected," Qing Zhi explained.

"That fellow from Undying Mountain is indeed a deceitful and sly creature. I didn’t expect him to use the last Evil Talisman on Long Chen. Breaking this talisman is as difficult as climbing to heaven, but it might not be impossible to try,"

Ximen Wuhen said.
