Chapter 385: Chapter 375: The One Who Seeks Help
For a moment, their eyes met, and the atmosphere suddenly became delicate.
Immediately after, Qing Zhi’s eyes turned icy cold, and with a murderous lift of her hand, the Broken Sword unsheathed itself and flew into her grasp.
"Beast, I’ll kill you."
Qing Zhi swung her sword, ready to strike.
"Wait a moment," Long Chen said urgently. "I’m injured right now; if you want to confront me and kill me at this moment, even if you win, it will be a hollow victory. The word would spread, and it won’t reflect well on you or your master’s reputation. Moreover, I didn’t do it on purpose, it was really an accident."
"Then why are you still looking? Why? Get out now!"
Qing Zhi roared.
"All right, all right, calm down."
Long Chen quickly turned and shut the door.
Qing Zhi hastily dressed herself in a spot where Long Chen couldn’t see her, her face flushed with shame and anger.
For over twenty years, no man had ever seen her undressed like this.
But Qing Zhi had never expected that in Qianzhou, she would have been seen in the nude by a bastard who had many women.
The more she thought about it, the angrier and more wronged she felt, and before long, she began to cry quietly.
A good while passed before Qing Zhi calmed down a bit.
Sensing Long Chen was still outside her door, Qing Zhi took a deep breath, composed herself, and asked, "What do you want?"
"I’m not accustomed to chatting with people while standing outside a door," Long Chen said.
"Come in," Qing Zhi replied.
"Okay."
Long Chen opened the door and walked in.
Qing Zhi was sitting in a chair, her expression had returned to being blank.
Long Chen couldn’t help but marvel at this woman’s acting ability. She had just been seen naked, yet now she behaved as if nothing had happened, as if it were all in the past.
"Spit it out. Spit it out fast; my time is limited. I don’t want to waste words with you," Qing Zhi said sternly.
"You’re waiting for me to recover, aren’t you? There’s nothing else," Long Chen muttered.
"I want to sleep; I need rest. That’s important," Qing Zhi replied.
Long Chen shook his head and said, "That’s true. Since you’re staying at my Great Xia Mansion, you’re a guest, but a guest must follow the host’s rules. I don’t want to see any more eavesdropping like before. I also believe you are a guest with martial virtue, right?"
"Oh, so barging into a guest’s room and seeing things you shouldn’t have... That’s martial virtue?" Qing Zhi retorted.
"Cough, let’s just call it even," Long Chen replied.
"Is this something that can be ’called even’?" Qing Zhi felt her temper rising again.
"Then I might as well strip and let you have a look back, how about that?"
"You’re shameless," Qing Zhi was so angry she almost drew her sword again.
Seeing this, Long Chen spoke casually, "It was truly an inadvertent act earlier, so please don’t mind it. You should rest well. After I have recovered, we can have a fair fight."
"Get lost. And you can also be assured that I won’t eavesdrop on your conversations again," Qing Zhi said through clenched teeth.
"That would be for the best."
"If you don’t leave now, I really will make my move," she said through gritted teeth.
"I’ll take my leave," Long Chen said, quickly skedaddling.
Although he didn’t yet know the full extent of this woman’s strength, based on her aura, he felt that her cultivation was not much less than his, if not on par.
Currently, he indeed had an injury; Li Yuechan’s sword had pierced through him, which seriously hurt his Primordial Energy and required time to recover.
Long Chen then left and returned to his grand hall to meditate and cultivate.
During this time, Xia Ling and others came by to check on Long Chen, and seeing that he was not seriously harmed, they all were relieved and also resumed their own endeavors.
Time flew, and in the blink of an eye, five days had passed.
By then, Long Chen had fully recovered.
Qing Zhi sought out Long Chen, demanding a duel.
But Long Chen declined, "Miss Qing Zhi, I still feel uncomfortable and can’t exert my full strength. Let’s wait some more."
"How much longer must we wait? I suspect you’re deliberately stalling. If you’re afraid to fight me, just admit it," Qing Zhi stated solemnly.
"Afraid of you, a little fairy? What a joke," Long Chen said disdainfully.
A little fairy?
Qing Zhi paused, momentarily forgetting what she was going to say.
Noticing Qing Zhi’s lapse, Long Chen was about to speak when Zhao Churan hurriedly approached him, "Husband, something has happened outside. Do you want to take a look?"
"What happened?" Long Chen asked.
"A little girl has run to the gates of our Great Xia Mansion being chased. She claims her father is trying to kill her, but we suspect it’s a ruse her father is telling her to use to swindle us," Zhao Churan explained.
"Let’s go take a look."
Without hesitation, Long Chen got to his feet and walked outside.
Qing Zhi glanced at Long Chen’s retreating figure, thought for a moment, and then followed.
A short while later, several people arrived outside the mansion.
Outside, a very disheveled man was wielding a kitchen knife, glaring menacingly at a little girl whose face was black and blue.
However, at that moment, the man was restrained by men from the Great Xia Mansion and couldn’t move, but he kept yelling obscenities, which were hard on the ears.
The little girl was terrified, her face pale and trembling, constantly pleading for protection from the people of the Great Xia Mansion.
"Little sister, what’s going on? Is he really your father?" Long Chen stepped forward to ask.
