The Rise of Dragon Son-in-Law
Chapter 356 - 346

Chapter 356: Chapter 346

Long Chen stared at Wang Meng, silent.

That look made Wang Meng’s scalp tingle.

Finally, Wang Meng couldn’t help but say, "Alright, alright, a month is a month. As long as you’re fine with it, I suppose I won’t have a problem either. Just, be gentle, okay?"

"What on earth do you think about all day in that head of yours?"

Long Chen finally spoke up, "I meant you’d be staying here alone, not with me. And for the record, I don’t have any designs on you right now, so don’t you dare think I’m trying to take your ’first time.’"

"Ah?" Wang Meng was stunned, then asked with flushed cheeks, "You’re not planning to bully me?"

"What point would there be in bullying you? A melon forced off the vine isn’t sweet."

Long Chen spoke with righteous sternness.

"You’re lying," Wang Meng immediately retorted, "Then why did you, that day, in the newly restored hall, make me kneel before you for...for what? Was that my choice? Huh?"

"That was...cough cough, then was then, now is different," Long Chen dryly chuckled.

"I think you’re saying one thing and thinking another. Humph, you’ve realized that I’m now willing to stay with you, so you’re acting this way on purpose. Actually, you like the melon twisted off the vine, don’t you? Not the docile cat, right?"

Wang Meng glared at Long Chen.

"You’re talking nonsense," Long Chen said, "Just stay here comfortably. Call me if you need anything."

With that, Long Chen prepared to leave.

Wang Meng quickly grabbed ahold of Long Chen, "Don’t go, I have a problem right now."

"Then spit it out."

"Stay with me; I can’t sleep alone, I get scared," Wang Meng said.

"Why? Didn’t you sleep alone back in Qianzhou? Or maybe you had a man with you after all?"

Long Chen asked.

"Not at all," Wang Meng replied, "It’s because, whenever I think about how the Heavenly God Temple’s Hall Master might seek insane revenge, I get really scared."

"He won’t find you, no need to fear."

"But I have nightmares," Wang Meng said, looking pitifully at Long Chen.

"Just bear with it, nightmares are all fake."

"I don’t care, you can’t leave tonight. Stay with me, let me get used to it, then tomorrow night I won’t be afraid anymore, really, I’ll be okay alone tomorrow night," Wang Meng insisted.

"How about this then, don’t sleep tonight. Stay up until you can’t keep your eyes open tomorrow. How’s that?"

"You really are... a genius," Wang Meng said, wide-eyed, "That idea is just so freaking awesome."

"Awesome, right? Then let’s do that, good luck."

Long Chen pretended he was going to leave.

Wang Meng promptly leapt up and clung to Long Chen, her long legs twining around his waist: "I won’t let you go."

This pose was indeed very alluring.

In that moment, Long Chen nearly couldn’t resist taking her right there.

"Stop messing around. Men and women shouldn’t touch so casually. If I really stay the night, you’ll be at a loss," Long Chen said with a wry smile.

"Long Chen, you were so bad to me and so direct before, and now you’re being so wishy-washy. You’re acting this way, and it makes me feel like I actually prefer the ’bad’ you. Are you even a man?"

Wang Meng glared at Long Chen.

Long Chen raised an eyebrow, "I am a man, a man with principles. If you want me to sleep with you, you’d have to move me first, now get going and sleep by yourself."

With a slight effort, Long Chen tossed Wang Meng onto the big bed.

Then, without hesitation, he left.

Wang Meng lay alone on the big bed, and as she thought about it, she suddenly chuckled.

She could tell Long Chen was interested, but he held back, which meant he had started to respect her—not treating her as a plaything.

This was a stark contrast to Ning Shenji.

If Ning Shenji had had such an opportunity in the past, he would have probably turned into a mad dog.

"Long Chen, oh Long Chen, you really are becoming more and more fascinating."

...

Outside, Long Chen stood by the roadside trying to hail a cab, but after a long wait, none had passed by.

In the end, Long Chen had no choice but to board a bus.

This was the last bus of the day, crowded with many people.

Long Chen stood near the back door, gazing out at the scenery, momentarily lost in thought.

A long time ago, he too had squeezed onto buses every day.

"Hey, move over a bit, don’t press against me, you stink to high heaven, so annoying."

Suddenly, a voice filled with utter disgust came from beside him.

The speaker was a woman wearing a mask, dressed in trendy clothes, glaring disdainfully at a manual laborer.

The laborer hung his head, not daring to meet the woman’s gaze, and said in a low voice, "I’m really sorry, but it’s so crowded, I can’t move, truly, I apologize."

"It’s revolting, then just squat down, or stand up. Even through a mask, I can smell your bad breath."

The woman said loudly, scooting back forcefully, nearly squeezing into Long Chen’s arms.

Long Chen frowned and said sternly, "You should also stay away from me."

The woman turned and cast a glance at Long Chen.

Just one look and her eyes lit up: "Sorry, young man."

As she spoke, she even twisted her body slightly, her posture somewhat coquettish.

This only intensified Long Chen’s disdain, as he stated coldly, "What gives you the right to look down on others? You’re just covering up your own stench with cheap perfume, putting on airs here."

Upon hearing Long Chen’s words, the woman’s face almost contorted: "You... you..."

"You what? When you’re out and about, don’t be so arrogant. Who do you think you are? Look back a few generations, and who the hell wasn’t a farmer?"

Long Chen rebuked her mercilessly.

"Exactly, judging people based on appearance."

"Well said!"

The entire bus chimed in, their expressions unfriendly as they glared at the woman.

The woman’s face turned red, and she no longer dared to speak.

At the next stop, she dejectedly got off the bus early.

"Young man, thank you."

The laborer said quietly.

"No need to thank me, it’s what should be done." Long Chen replied with a smile.

"Young man, one can tell at a glance you’re no ordinary person. I hope there are more people like you in the world. Ah, it’s tough for us who do the heavy lifting. Not only are we looked down upon, but we also can’t get our pay after the work is done."

The laborer spoke bitterly.

"Not getting paid? What’s that about? Tell me more." Long Chen asked.

The laborer explained, "The money has probably been sent to our boss’s account, but he’s not paying us, and there’s nothing we can do."

"How many of you haven’t been paid?" Long Chen inquired.

The laborer replied, "There are twenty-seven people in our work crew, and none of us have been paid. It’s been over two months. Sigh, my child is waiting to pay the school fees and I don’t know what to do."

"Take me to see, I’ll help you out." Long Chen offered.

The laborer’s eyes sparkled, but soon dimmed again: "Thank you for your kindness, young man, but it’s tough, better let it go."

"I can really help you, just lead the way," Long Chen smiled and assured, "I promise to take care of it for you."

"Alright, alright, then thank you so much, young man, thanks a lot."

Hope kindled in the laborer’s heart.
